During our last visit to WDW, last August, we noticed lots of activity just inside the MK. A CM told me that Jim Brickman would be filming a PBS special later in the week! Being a fan of his, that was exciting news!
As my dd and I walked in front of Tony's Town Square, Wayne Brady passed by and entered the taping area. Then we walked over by the Emporium and saw Jim B. seated at the piano. Soon Michael Bolton appeared and rehearsal began. Several female vocalists participated, too, but I can't name them as I wasn't familiar with them.
We noticed people were watching the whole thing from the platform at the RR Station, so we headed over to see if we could possibly watch from that vantage point. I was sure the steps leading up to the platform would be roped off, but we were delighted to discover I was wrong. We watched the rest of rehearsal and part of the taping from the platform, with the castle in the background. It was awesome!
As Michael Bolton sang, we were amused to hear two young (20 something) girls comment that he was HOT! He did look mighty fine and sounded great, too.
Wayne Brady...we love Wayne Brady...sang a gorgeous ballad called Beautiful.
Jim played beautifully, as usual. Some of the pieces performed are on Jim's new CD, The Disney Songbook. It's a great CD!!! Neat arrangements of some of the best-loved Disney tunes, like A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes, Mary Poppins medley, Baby Mine, Reflection, Can You Feel The Love Tonight?. We love it!!!
Before we knew it, the clock struck midnight, and we needed to run before our Disney bus turned into a pumpkin :earsboy:
We were told the program would be aired in Nov., as a part of the PBS telethon. So please look for it... you won't be disappointed!!!! Deb

Thanks for the info. How lucky are you to get to see that!!!! I found out about Jim Brickman's CD here on the boards a couple of weeks ago and ran right out to get it. It is awesome! I love "Beautiful" by Wayne Brady, it is my new favorite song!!! I'll have to look for the special.

That kills me! LOL I wish I could have seen it!!!! My mom and I have all of Jim Brickman's piano books (we play them on the piano) I love his music!!!! I can't wait to get my hands on the Disney piano book LOL!!!!!!! This certainly is a dream come true- Jim Brickman has a DISNEY music book!!!!!!

About 2 weeks before this taping, I received an invitation in my email to RSVP if I would like to attend. I believe they sent out these emails to anyone on Jim Brickman's email list that lived in the state of Florida. I RSVP'd and went to the first night of the taping (it went on for 2 nights).

It was very cool to see Wayne Brady, Jim Brickman, Lila McCann, Michael Bolton and Linda Eder all live in the MK!! The castle was behind them while they sang/played....very cool.

A few not-so-good things...it was like 90 degrees in the MK that night, we were DIEING and we had shorts and tank tops on! The people who ran this thing (not disney) were not organized at all and we stood in a mob scene for almost an hour just to get in. When we arrived at the MK parking lot, nobody seemed to know where we should go, or what we were there for. The taping was supposed to start at 9, it didn't start til almost 11. We of course, had to work the next day so we had to leave at 12:30 even though it was still going on. Thank god for Extra Magic hours that were going on that night, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to get to our cars! We found out later that they kept the "live" audience until 4:00AM!!!! And that people actually stayed all that time! Insane.

but anyway, all in all it was an ok time...the coolest part was to watch this concert, because of where it was and the beautiful music that they played in front of the castle. Cinderella and Prince Charming danced live to Wayne Brady's "Beautiful". It was very magical. And the best part is we got 2 free 1-day tickets to disney just for coming. (we will probably give them to our friends since we have annual passes)

We were also told it would air in Nov and/or Dec on PBS....so look out for it. His new CD, A Disney Songbook, is great for any disney fan....so out out and pick it up today!!

I love, love, LOVE Jim Brickman!!! I have been a fan of his for about 10 years now. I learned about his new CD about 3 weeks ago when I heard an ad on the radio for his Christmas tour coming to my town! And it said that he would be playing Christmas music, classic JB tunes, as well as selections from his new Disney music CD. I was taking my DD to school and almost ran off the road!! I immediately ordered tickets online & then came here to share the info with my DIS friends!

But to actually be there at the taping -- WOW!!!

You will soooo enjoy the Jim Brickman concert....especially the christmas one!! I've seen him several times and each time it doesn't disappoint.

I'm jealous, he's not coming to Florida for the christmas tour :(

This is airing right now in Boston (GBH2) and at 9 in NH (WENH 11).
I think it may premiere on 12/3 in other parts of the country.
I'm tivoing it and it is WONDERFUL!

I watched the special here in CT at 7 p.m. on CPTV, our public broadcasting station. We were at WDW in May and again in September this year. We are not going again until Dec. '06 (DCL, plus about 7 days in WDW), but this show makes me want to go back alot sooner! I think they did a great job, expecially with the Cinderella dance "on stage" with Wayne Brady! Just saw Jim Brickman in concert with my DD4 last month and all the Disney songs were wonderful, especially the "Princess song", as per my DD4!

I sure hope it hasn't aired here in Orlando yet. I would be very disappointed to be in the audience at the taping and then miss the darn thing! I have been watching my digital TV guide for it and so far I haven't seen it. I'm very excited though!! I believe it won't air here until next weekend.

Disney and Jim Brickman, two of my favorite things! :)

It was on here in Mass last night- I caught the end of it. Thank goodness for DVR- I searched and they were replaying it a couple of times, including this morning and I want to say sometime tonight or tomorrow.

Great! I will actually be IN WDW when it airs on 12/06 locally!!! Maybe I can talk someone into taping it for me. I'll ask my daughter.

Wow! I'm impressed and jealous, but then, GW (Bush) could walk right by me and I wouldn't notice. My oldest daughter is a cop and (I guess through her training) notices everyone!
