Jikos: Yea or Nay?

As for our family, we enjoyed Jikos very much. The service was wonderful and the food was a taste adventure! MIL choked when she saw the bill but we always splurge on one meal each trip.

Definitely worth the splurge for us.

P.S. We tried it on the advice of disboarders since we were looking for something new. :thumbsup2

As Shelleybaxter said call the front desk to get the address. Also try to get the General Manager's name, if the front desk doesn't know their name, asked to be transferred to the restaurant's hostess desk. They should be able to give you the GM's name. Using the GM's name in your correspondance to him/her shows that this is a serious matter to you, since you took the time to find it out.

Jiko's was one of our worst meals at Disney, but then many love it. I think it's one that you have to try to decide.

Yes, yes and yes!! We just had dinner there last week, and it was absolutely wonderful!

We really enjoyed it - it was a nice change of pace and offered many things I don't have at our convenience in the Chicagoland area. The wine list is suberb and the atmosphere was perfect. Our service was good - not great - but didn't ruin the meal by any means.

Bonus points for being able to walk around AKL after an extremely filling meal! :thumbsup2

We love Jiko, have eaten there a few times and will be again in December!

I have eaten there only once, and it was hands-down the best meal I have ever had on-property. (Of course, I haven't made it to V&A's yet.) Our server was extremely attentive, and the food was wonderful. The wine (suggested by our server) was perfect for our food selections. I cannot wait to go again.

Without reservations a resounding Yey. Have eaten there at least 30 times all -- were fantastic experiences!!

We really enjoy Jiko, but I agree with the comment about packing in too many tables. The tables are not as close together as, say, Alfredo's at WS, but there is banquet seating along one wall where the tables are much too close together, IMO. We try to avoid that area. We sat there once and the table next to us had six people all of them sick, sniffling, coughing and sneezing. I felt like if we stayed, we'd get sick. So we paid for our appetizers and left.

Jikos is absolutly worth the trip adn the money. The food is divine and The service is great. The staff really knows what they are talking about. The filet mignon is the best I have ever had..and its served with gourmet mac and cheese!!! I would suggest that as an entree if you like beef.
we always go there every trip. I also can suggest a great red wine as well whicih is moderatly priced. Its called Excelsior, from south africa.

We also love Jiko - our kids were 8 and 9 when we first went and the server went out of his way to make them feel welcome and special. My favorite dessert on-property is the pistachio creme brulee at Jiko -- worth every calorie!!

Jiko is one of our favorite restaurants. Never ever miss it when we are there. No problem with service, and never felt like the tables were packed in tight. (which I would have noticed, because I hate that!)

Definitely kid friendly as are all WDW restaurants. (well, I've never been to V&A, that seems to be the only one that folks warn families away from)

We liked our meal at Jiko's, but we just didn't love it. I think it was so hyped on this board that I had unrealistic expectations. The filet was good, but not as good as the one at CA Grill that we had that same week.

Jiko is one of our favorite dining experiences anywhere on property. I highly recommend it.

I had a less than stellar experience in May. Jiko's seemed overbooked and they could not keep up with the crowd. Had an ADR for 8:00 pm -- we waited 45 minutes for our table (can't complain about this I guess). My DH's salad was forgotten and there were *long* waits between courses. It took over two hours from sitting to have an appetizer and main course (no cocktail). It was close to 10:30 by the end of the entree. Normally, we would get coffee or desert, but quiet frankly we just wanted out.
Now at nice restaurant I expect a leisurely extend meal, but we felt forgotten and neglected. The meal was not well paced.

I will give Jiko's another try, since this was my favorite restaurant. Next time I'll make the ADR earlier, hopefully this well help with the backlog of diners.

:thumbsup2 Love it.
The atmosphere, the service the hidden mickey in the oven, oh and the food is absolutely wonderful.
You'll love it.

I loved everything from the Tomato salad, curry shrimp, to the Pistachio crème' Brule’. Marty (our server) was excellent!!! His wine recommendations were right on, in addition to giving us a relaxing experience...
