Jikos: Yea or Nay?

We love Jiko - great food - the steak is even better the California Grill. We always eat there at least once each trip, as well as California Grill, Citricos and Fying Fish Cafe.

We always request our favorite server - Marty - he is simply the best, he makes every visit special and we really look forward to seeing him.

We've been to Jiko 3 times. First was w/ the Sunset Safari meal, and we absolutely loved it. Fantastic. Not a complaint in the world.

The second time was a few years ago, and our server was a little flighty. We ordered a dessert they no longer have on the menu, and it was so sour as to be inedible. Our server was just kind of like, "Oh..." Not, "I'm sorry, could I offer you something else?" Or, "I'll make sure to tell the chef," anything. Just, "Oh..." It put us off Jiko for a while.

We went a few days ago, and mostly enjoyed it. Our server, Oscar, was very attentive at first, but then he came down with a case of Disappearing Server Syndrome. DBF's steak was way underdone, and he had to send it back twice to get it right. The second time Oscar actually argued with him about how he wanted it cooked, which was pretty upsetting to DBF, b/c he's extremely nonconfrontational.

Anyway. Despite that! Jiko is absolutely, 100% worth a try. It's unique, and the curry shrimp and chocolate cheesecake are wonderful.

What say you? Is Jikos worth it?

You bet. The filet with the mac'n cheese is second only to Shula's in my opinion.
