I am interested in dining here next trip. We love Boma and want to try another restaurant in AKL. We'd probably be on the dining plan, so I'm wondering if it's not only worth a try but is it worth 2 credits. If you could also tell me what dishes you recommend that'd be great. :goodvibes

Thanks!

I think Jiko is a wonderful restaurant but I don't think any of the 2 TS restaurants are worth 2 TS credits, which is why we never do the dining plan. Particularly at Jiko, the true gems at this place are the appetizers, not included in your plan. While the entrees are okay, the soups and appetizers are the reason we go. None of the desserts have ever wowed me.

The only entrees here that I have disliked are the chicken entree and a monk fish entree that is no longer on the menu. Most people love the filet with mac/cheese. I've had it 3 times and it's been great, good and meh, not consistent at all. The braised short ribs are very good.

All of the appetizers and soups are outstanding.

I agree that using 2 TS on any of the restaurants isn't usually worth it. We do love the apps and soups at Jiko, and we have always had great experience with the entrees too. It is definitely one of my favorite WDW restaurants, and if you were somehow going to end up with an extra TS credit leftover, I would go to Jiko.

I also agree that no restaurant is worth 2 TS credits. My girlfriend and I tend to book a few more ADR's than TS credits so we usually pay for any signature or breakfast TS meals OOP.
If you are willing to pay for a TS meal OOP, Jiko is worth the extra cash, IMHO.

We love Jiko, but for our May trip I don't plan on using any credits for my meal because I want an appetizer and a side dish. Jiko has awesome food! :)

We loved Jiko and a yummy meals there. We did not use dinning when we ate there 2x so I can't help you if its worth the 2 credits.

We fell in LOVE w/ this place this past Oct. Even our 9yo DD is looking forward to heading back. Our appts were great. however we were on the DXDDP so they were included. My DH had the ostrich filet and he & our DD loved it. It was a bit much for me. I had the chef's special flat bread for the day. YUM-O. Then we had the lamb and filet for our mains. Both gone in moments. Then on to the best dessert of the trip. We plan on visiting Jiko once or twice during our up coming trip. Yup we liked it that much!!!
You never know until you try it.

Jiko is the only restaurant for which we'd willingly pay Disney prices if it weren't at Disney.

The Swahili shrimp curry stew is one of the most amazing dishes I can remember ever eating anywhere.

We find that the 2TS credit restaurants are still a better per-credit value than most TS breakfasts, btw (that is, they cost slightly more than twice as much OOP as a 1-credit breakfast would--*if* you order dessert at the dinner).

We have had such wonderful meals at Jiko that we could not visit WDW and not eat at Jiko. mmmmmm, I'm hungry now thinking about it.

We have relatives who live in Celebration and say bar-none Jiko is the best WDW restaurant.

we ate jiko last september. the food and service was excellent. My wife, her family, and I said the meal was excellent. We also said we would go back again.

I am going to be the lone dissenter. We found the food and service to be merely okay, and we do a lot of signature dining. We much preferred Sanaa, which is also at AKL, and is only 1 meal credit.

We ate at Jiko when we went last time (we splurged and were on the deluxe plan it was our disneymoon). Both DH and I agreed we'd like to eat there again given the chance. I don't know that I can really comment on if it was worth the 2 TS credits because we had so many credits with the plan we were on.

If you asked me before we went Nov 09 I would say yes it is to die for but after our less than wonderful meal in Nov I would rather go to Citricos or Flying Fish

I thought on the DDP that it was one appetizer, one entree and one dessert per person.
