My wife and I ate at Jiko Friday night.

Surprisingly got in at 7:30 with a 3 minute wait at the Victoria Falls lounge.

I had the wild boar appetizer ($16.00) which was, like the ostrich appy before this, very small. Unlike the ostrich this, the boar and the accompaniment was all very tasty (but spicy). A.

Just had the regular bread service with tandoori butter. Very good. The butter is better than the bread. A-.

My wife had the bbq chicken flatbread as an entree and it was delicious. A.

I had the fish of the day which I have mixed feelings on. I loved the tile fish itself but I haven't learned that Jiko's preparation is always the same (I can't describe it) but isn't my favorite. The veggies were OK. B.

Now, to the most disappointing aspect, the service. Once again, as probably 75% of the time, the service was adequate minus. We really felt like we were intruding on our server rather than anything else. Too bad they can't seem to fix this problem. Note: I know there are a few GREAT servers at Jiko, just not enough of them. C-.

Peter,
I am so sorry to hear about the poor service at Jiko. It is such an integral part of the whole dining process, that it definitely affects the whole experience.

We were lucky enough to have a wonderful server last summer. The menu and wine suggestions he made were spot on!

Thanks for the review. I heard the chef is someone new, so I was wondering about the food!

haven't been to Jiko yet, but hope we hit it on a good day!! Thanks for the review.

Thanks for the review, we have Jiko booked for our upcoming trip. Sorry to hear about your service issues. We've eaten there several times, and usually have good service, so I hope that trend continues.

Sorry to hear your service wasn't up to par. We went to Jiko's for the first time the week after Thanksgiving, 2010. Ron from Pakistan was our CM and he was fantastic. He took the time to explain everything to us and we did not feel rushed at all. Going to any restaurant is a crapshoot most of the time but more often than not, the experience at WDW has been a positive one for us. If you liked the cuisine at Jiko's (not everyone does), give it another try. The food is fantastic and hopefully your next time the service will match.

The thing is, I HAVE been to Jiko at least 10 times and the service is seldom above average. Don't get me wrong, our service didn't suck, it was just "service", but at a place like Jiko you do expect much better and as I said I know there are some great servers at Jiko as evidenced by the reviews, my point is there just aren't enough.
