So if we were to take this dream trip we would have to choose between Jiko and the California Grill. Which one would you choose and why?

We would do Jiko after AK one day

or

California Grill during the fireworks

They both have excellent food. We have dined at CG several times and once at Jiko. The menu at Jiko is quite different from CG and it is quieter (at least the time we were there). CG has the edge for the view. ;)

The trip to Jiko is worth it just to see the AKL. :thumbsup2

Thanks Paul! :thumbsup2 I hear that AKL is a half day park at most but after looking at it, it seems we could do a whole day there. It might be nice to end a day in the jungle/zoo/safari with a nice dinner close by. Plus the pics of the AKL look awesome!

AKL is definitely more than a half day park. It has really grown on my DW and me. The safari ride is great as are the Pangani Trail with the gorillas and komodo dragon and the Asian Jungle Trek with the tigers and meercats. You also need to see the new Nemo stage show and It's Tough to Be a Bug. Expedition Everest isn't bad either. ;) Enjoy!

Thoughts from another Paul in CT. Both CA Grill and Jiko are excellent. I agree with Paul #1that Jiko is quieter. If you are planning on doing this the same day as AK Jiko is the logical choice. Or you could look at the menus to see which is more to your liking. Personally, I focus on dessert, being an amateur pastry chef, which does make me popular with the neighbors when they get fallout.

Thanks Paul #2. Both menus look equally appetizing to me. Hmmm, maybe I will check out the desserts more closely.

I can't decide between watching the fireworks during dinner or giving my kids a new food experience.

Paul #1, I think we could do a full day there too!

I absolutely love Cali Grill and always recommend it. However, last trip I was fortunate to have the opportunity to try Jiko. WOW! It is such a wonderful dining experience. Much quieter than Cali Grill. The foods are very unique and amazing. The wines are interesting as well. We sat at the prep station and had a really fun evening.

I still like Cali Grill but can't wait to go to Jiko again.

DH and I have a reservation for CG for our anniversary. We've never eaten there and I was wondering about dress code. The CM who made our res. told me "no swimsuits (as if I would;) ), tank tops, etc.".

SO, what would be appropriate attire? Thanks.
