I was told by CRO that Jiko had a 'bit' of a dress code but it was more no tank tops etc. If I went in with a golf shirt and long shorts, or shirt and jeans, would that ok for Jiko?

It's sort of business casual but understand they won't refuse service for not conforming but will seat guests out of the way......

Disney's business casual is no bathing suits, no beater-shirt tank tops, no frayed clothing. You will be fine in jeans or nice shorts at JIKO.

It depends ... dressy or "nice jeans" would be fine with a polo tucked in and a belt. If you were thinking of wearing your frayed faded jeans that hang down to your knees the answer would be NO :rotfl:

We went a few years back and DH wore a tan pair of slacks and a polo tucked in with a belt. I wore a cute little sundress. We fit in perfect.

Don't let the menu make you nervous as the food was FAB!!!!!
I am a picky eater and when I saw the menu I went :scared1:
But everything was beyond what I expected and this is one of our fav places to eat! Make sure after dinner to take the walk around the outside to see the animals. It might be dark BUT they light it up with tiki style lamps and its VERY romantic ;)

Is the food really good? This takes 2 TS credits on the DDP doesn't it? If the food is good and the decore is awesome I don't mind spending two! :goodvibes

We had dinner here last Wed. By far it was the best meal we had while we were in FL. As good as many meals we've had other cities around the world. The food is really well executed here. The menu is interesting(we had the braised lamb shanks and the black cods as our entrees...both were delicious). Service was impeccable. We were on the DDP but woudl have happily paid our bill out of pocket for the meal($150 including one glass of wine and one bottle of pellegrino before tip). Should we return to WDW this restaurant will always be on our agenda no matter where we stay.

The restaurant is an upscale restaurant...the decor is very tasteful, the lighting dim. Open kitchen in the middle fo the space. Check out the lights - very cool.

We went dressed what we consider "resort casual" (skirt and top/ tommy bahama shirt and dress bermuda shorts) and were dressed up compared to most folks. We saw lots of logo tees, jeans, cargo shorts, ball caps.

We also saw several people that were very dressed up all four nights that we were staying at the lodge coming in the main doors for dinner at Jiko...they appeared to usually be locals coming in for dinner. Jiko has an excellent local reputation as well.

Dress as your comfortable taking the published dress code into consideration. There really seems to be a lot of room for interpretation.

I am very cold natured and a friend surprised me with a trip to Jiko in August. All I had to wear in the a/c was a sweatshirt. I DID feel underdressed, but no one said anything or stared. _I_ am not a dress up kind of person, but I would be more comfortable there in khakis and a polo shirt or casual sweater.
The food is INCREDIBLE and worth every penny.
