Hi,

Can someone please tell me the difference between these two? Is there one that is better for dinner? I can see positive things mentioned but unsure of which would be best.

Thanks,
Mel

The big difference is at Jiko you order off a menu and Boma is a buffet. Jiko also seems to be more on the upper end of dining places. We like Boma since we get to pick what we want to eat and the chefs are out to talk to us about what is in each dish.

are WONDERFUL and if I could, I would go to both during my trip!! If you're a bit more picky about food, I would try BOMA. Also, if you MUST only pick one for the first time, I would pick BOMA....but get to JIKO next time!!

Either way, you'll enjoy.

I agree with engle (and everyone else so far, it seems.)

They are both incredible. I love Boma because there is so much to choose from...so many unique offerings. I love getting small tastes of everything! I would recommend Boma for that reason.

BUT...Jiko may be the best restaurant on WDW property. It is upscale, beautifully decorated....you cannot go wrong with either one. Just decide what type of dining experience you want that night...casual and lots of food? Or a sit down, upscale experience? There's your answer!

Enjoy!

Hmmm, I'm struggling too with this one. I have been to neither but I have reserved both Jiko and Boma and although i know I definately want to go to Jiko (it's our honeymoon) I'm thinking that Boma may be very similar so I'm wondering if going to Boma is worth it or not?

Jiko is amazing!

Boma was not for us - too loud, and food on buffet didn't look appetizing. However, they have wonderful desserts and a great pressed pot of coffee (that youcan also get at Jiko).

We will be heading back to Jiko this August!

I wouldn't say Boma is very similar. Maybe consider having breakfast at Boma.

That is a good suggestion...I did a Boma breakfast review recently...in a nutshell...LOVED IT!

But I do know what she means by "similar" in that the food has similar seasonings and flavors.

LOL!:rotfl:

I honestly did not consider it *too* loud. Not any more so than other buffets on property.

When we went in '03, we had a table to back left as you enter (with the food on your left). It was very quiet, but it is amazing what location can do for sound. We went last December, and sat in the "big" area in front of the food and not far from the hostess area (where everyone waits), with Victoria Falls up above, and the sound difference was amazing. We even talked about it during the meal. And we don't blink when we eat dinner at WCC. It was weird.

I have not been to Boma but you can hear the noise in there from outside the restaurant.

Jiko is wonderful. Atmosphere is very soothing, the service we had was wonderful & the food fabulous!

You're right...I know that whole waiting area seems like mass confusion and I would not like to sit anywhere near it! We have had breakfast there twice, and dinner there twice...and now that I think of it, every time we have been seated towards the back or the restaurant, to the right.

So shovan...give it a try! Just make sure you request a seat well into the restaurant. You are right...you can hear the noise from the Jiko/Boma lobby area all throughout the hotel it seems!

I would do Boma for breakfast & Jiko for dinner.

Jiko has recently pulled into First Place for my current favorite WDW Dining Experience. The wine list has alot to do with that. The Food is Fantastic, but the wine pairings I had were simply amazing.

We ate at both during our trip in Feb/March. I also went on the culinary tour that they offer at AKL during that trip and the Jiko chef explained to me that Boma is more traditional African food, but that Jiko was more of a French-African fusion.

Personally, I like Boma a lot more than Jiko. We just ate there last week again and it was, as always, amazing. It was my parents first time eating at Boma and it was their favorite meal of the trip.
