I have not been able to ride the new version of JIYI. But I have seen videos of the new ride. Are any of the AA's of figment from the original ride? I remembered the astronaut figment, but that's about it. Does anyone know?

I think they used the astronaut one, but I can't remember if any of the others are old. I kind of don't think so, but I've only been on it once.

Guy's the end is where they show the old ones...i think that there is the astronaut one but im not sure about all the others...i'd like to think that they were old ones tho!~

Without a doubt, this continues to be the worst attraction in all of WDW!

How on earth could you say that it was the worst ride when it was in its origional state? It was so wonderful and I dont remember much of it but let me just say they did crap it up by changing it but i dont think its the worst thing there~

It originally was not horrible but as it is today, it is about the lamest thing going.:sad2:

There's no doubt that JII has always been kind of hokey, but it's definitely something for the kids, which, if you think about it, is sorely lacking in Epcot.

I agree with MrsJackSparrow. I think that the original was cute and charming and the redo was just plain blah. This latest version still misses the mark even if Figment is more heavily featured.

I haven't seen the new version, but I will in a few weeks. I'm sure it won't be as good as the original.

I was a big fan of the original version but thought it needed loads of refreshing with new effects and AA's and such. They could have kept the characters and story line.
The second version was a big disappointment and really was a waste of a lot of money but I really didn't consider it a horrible attraction on its on terms, just bland. They cut the ride leangth in half and essentially had long sections where there was shelving filled with electrical parts as it was suppose to be taking place in a lab.
The third version is better and added more fun and whimsy and returning the song and Figment back added much to the attraction. The ending was a great idea though I wished they would have put money into having each Figment be an AA. This scene would be a huge sucess and great climax if it had lots of kinetic movement.

The current version is hardly a "winner", but it does have a few moments.

I definitely can't call it the worst attraction in all of WDW...

Sounds Dangerous and Triceratops Spin immediately come to mind...

When did the third version of JII come out. I was htere last October, and it was horrible! The original was SOOO much better!

:wave2:

The current version (JIIWF) opened 6/1/02. The disaster (JIYI) closed due to popular demand on 10/8/01).

According to information provided in a semi-private setting by four Imagineers (Dave, Tony, Kevin and Brian) in September 2001 they had very tight time and money constraints and also could do nothing that would affect the Kodak Laboratory which had been installed where the first part of the original attraction had been removed.

In other words, they did the best they could considering the circumstances which were forced on them.

The first Imagination ride was the BEST!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: That had the Disney magic. Don't you just miss that song? The second one was just horrible (what were the Imagineers thinking? ) The one now is better than the second but no where near as good as the first one. Disney should go back to the original one.

See, this is exactly what I am afraid will happen to AE in Tomorrow Land, when they make it Stitch's Adventure in MK. I am trying to think of even one ride or attraction that they have "updated" that has in the end been better. Spaceship Earth? Nope, liked Walter Cronkite. Journey, nope. SnowWhite not worth it, Winnie instead of Mr. Toad maybe by a hair if at all. Some things are classics. Did they ever have the Alice in Wonderland Ride in WDW or did I just ride it in DL? That was a classic. Dream Finder was one of those classic rides too. I mean for all intents and purposes Figment was the mascot of Epcot and then they dump his ride!?

I LOVED the original ride!! It was my favorite Epcot ride. (But then I miss Mr. Toad's "ride thru hell" too.) :earboy2:
