Can anybody give me their experience with JetBlue delays. Another flight had mechanical issues so they are taking our plane. We are now delayed at least 2 hours. The extra time at the airport is going to service me nuts with my anxious 8 year old asking when are we leaving...... Am I entitled to compensation? If so how do you go about it?

We had a problem about 2 years ago, our plane had a mechanical problem after everyone was onboard. We were on the plane close to an hour while they tried to fix it. We then had to deplane & wait close to another hour for a different plane. We took off about when we should have been landing @ home. Everyone was pleasant about the whole thing- passengers & crew. A day or 2 later we got an email saying we each had a $50 credit due to the problems we went through. Never requested it so I was pleased.

We just flew with Jet Blue in January. It was awful. We will never do it again.

They were totally unorganized, changed our flight time 4 times, changed our gate number 30 minutes before the flight and we left 2 hours late. It was utter confusion. They announced the gate change over the PA system, but not at the gate, so people at the new gate were trying to board our flight because no one had told them where to go.

What a mess.

No one was helpful at all. We weren't compensated in any way. We were just glad to be home.

A two hour delay, while annoying, isn't that bad, unless it causes you to miss a connection. It's possible your flight will be able to make up some of the delay time by flying faster. You can always write or email asking for compensation; I don't know what JetBlue will give you, but you'll get nothing unless you ask. On United, as I recall, the delay has to be longer than 3 hours to get anything. I usually complain about delays over that, and I always get compensation, usually a choice of miles or an e-certificate, although I'm a 1K, so probably get more than the average flyer. Last October, a UA flight I was on from SEA-IAD was delayed over 8 hours. I didn't even have to ask; UA gave me 20,000 frequent flyer miles.

JetBlue will probably give you a certificate for a free headphone rental ;)

In Oct of 2012 we had a 2 hr delay at MCO flying JB, the plane to take us was late getting there for reasons we never learned. JB gave free movies to the passengers and a $100 credit to all. We used that to book Oct 2013 when we had another delay, this time of a little more than an hour, no compensation. We really didn't mind, it was the homeward leg, we enjoyed an extended 'Happy Hour' at On The Border, if we were held up getting to WDW we wouldn't be so pleased.

I fly JetBlue all the time. Is it perfect? Far from it. But, they are really easy to work with (usually) when there is an issue. Imybdd and I were already on the plane once, when there was a very strange noise. Figured that was not a good thing. It wasn't. We were taken off the plane and back to the gate we went. They had to get a new plane in for us. Unfortunately, there wasn't a plane available for close to 3 hrs! So, we needed up taking off just about the time we should have landed in Orlando...and I missed an event I had been looking forward to. But dd and I each got a $100 credit.

Last Dec was the absolute worst flight with JB. I was flying out of Worcester, Mass, to Orlando. 7:30am flight. They changed the flight to 8. ok.It was foggy, which is an issue for this airport. JB had just started flying there the previous month....only commercial airline at Worcester. So, we were told that they couldn't get the plane in that morning. They were going to bus us to Boston, about an hour away. Ok. But we couldn't get the buses out until just past 8.,,just in case someone hadn't gotten the message.ended up not leaving until 8:45. So, we never got to Boston until about 10:30. It was nasty traffic and the bus poked along after taking whacky back roads to the Mass Pike. The people that had chosen to drive to Boston were hugely peeved that they had been waiting so long. Got a credit for that flight too...as well as free movies. The flight home? A nightmare. We got all the way to RI..about 25 mins out of Worcester. They announced they couldn't get into Worcester, so were diverting to Boston. It was 3:30. I texted my dh to let him know we were on the ground, when we landed. He said that was impossible...they had just been told, in Worcester, that we were due in in about 10 mins!! They were never told where we were. Ok....we get off the plane, they had no idea where we were to go...to a holding area to wait for instructions or to baggage claim. We finally just went to baggage claim. We were told, at 4:15, that buses were coming for us, but not until 5-5:30, it's Friday night, raining, rush hour in Boston! It would take 2+ hrs, once they got buses! My dh still hadn't been told by JB that we weren't coming in there. When I called him, he said he would drive to alohas and get me, but that would be crazy. I took the Logan Express to Framingham, met dh 40 mins after leaving Logan and drove home...25 mins more.

My issue? If JB had told those waiting at Worcester, for the flight to land, that it was going to Boston, they could have driven to Boston in a timely fashion. But they didn't. Worcester didn't even know we were in Boston! So, either things were so crazy that they never took the time to tell Worcester workers that we weren't landing there, or they just put and out lied. Or, even worse, they had no idea where their plane was. And that's what I said in an email to JB! Into
D them that I knew the issues with Worcester...and I accepted the risks. But to not tell families were their loved ones were landing was just unforgivable...that it was all very chaotic. They tried to make it a non-issue but said they understood my issue and gave me a $50 credit. Not sure if everyone else got that credit since the flight did arrive on time...just not in Worcester.

Bit, for the most part, they do a good job handling issues. The past year has been one filled with travel issues for me, but except for that one time, JB handled things very well.

Never experienced a delay on Jetblue. This January I did fly to MCO and back on US Airways and Delta. Going down on US Airways, our first flight out of BDL was delayed an hour due to ATC. Nothing you can do about that. Had to make a tight connection in CLT but that flight was delayed an hour because of a mechanical fault. Coming back the first Delta flight was fine but the second one was delayed an hour because our plane was stuck on the other side of ATL in the hangar. While the crews apologized on all of the flights, stuff happens and both US Airways and Delta got me from point A to point B safely, so I will definitely use both again. Never got any compensation, nor did I expect any. That being said, I get having a kid makes the whole situation stressful but flying isn't perfect and planes will break down. It's just what the airline does about that makes the difference. More than likely, you will get a credit, if not, you can contact them explaining what happened.

A couple of years ago we were delayed about 3 hours on SW. We each got a $100 travel voucher without asking. Didn't get out of my home airport until 2:00am.

To answer my own question. Refunds came automatically today. Only issue is that they issued them separately to each if my party and I paid for them all and always make reservations for us. Besides what is my 8 year old going to do with a jetblue bank. Have too figure out how to use it:cool1:

Call them. They can be consolidated into one account. This has happened to our family, and the 3 credits were all transferred into my account since I make all the reservations at the same time.

That's great. We've had similar delays the last two times returning home and haven't received anything.

I learned the hard way in February about Worcester and fog. I had no idea until we were checking in for our flight that they hadn't been able to get the plane into Worcester because of the fog and I overheard people saying that it's a common thing there. They bused us to to Boston also but I think we ended up taking off a bit earlier than you did (I think it was just after 10am when we were boarded so earlier than you even got to the airport). We got free movies and free headphones but that's it. I hadn't even thought about compensation. Should they have offered compensation? Should we have asked for it?

On the plus side, Border Limo ended up sending a stretch limo for our ride home from Worcester at the end of our trip so we at least ended on a great note.

When it is weather related No you will not get compensation. If it is a mechanical issue then yes.

That's what I had thought but Goofy4tink's issue was the exact same fog issue, though in her case the trip from Worcester to Boston was significantly longer and more dragged out.

Reading the posts here just as JetBlue just took off over my house I believe. I want to fly out of Worcester next December for our trip to WDW as the airport is just 15 minutes away, but my DH and I have decided definitely not to chance it. Worcester has long been known for its fog issues. I think when JetBlue announced that they would service Worcester there was some agreement as to upgrading the system there in the future to help with this problem. It was not to happen overnight though, but maybe a couple of years?

I completely accepted the risk of fog when I booked JB out of Worcester. I knew it was possibly...very possible. And I didn't have a huge issue, at least not the flight going to MCO. It was the flight home that I had an issue with. And again, it wasn't the fog...I know it happens and they waited as long as they could to make the call as to where to divert to. My issue? Why the heck didn't the ground people in Worc know about the flight being diverted? And if they did..why the heck didn't they tell the people waiting for passengers on that flight? We were on the ground, in Boston, and my dh, in Worc at the airport, was still being told we were landing there, in Worc, shortly. Then, they took 2 hrs to get us buses? It was miserable. I told the CS people at JB what had upset me...the issue of 'where's the plane, and where is it landing at'. People could have had their rides drive to Boston if they wanted to, rather than wait for the buses. But they were't given that option. That was my issue.

They fly over my house as well!! I kind of like seeing them up there. In any case, Massport is working on it. A bunch of trees were cut down to make landings easier..sightline is much better now. Although, coming in over the edge of that hill is a bit freaky. I rode the bus to Framingham with a TSA agennt/part time baggage handler for JB..he said that as soon as the new instrumentation comes online, they big planes will fly in. I forget which ones..but he said they would practically land themselves with the new systems in place. It should take another few years. As long as you know what you're getting into, Worc is a great little airport! I just love it there.
