Jet Blue Schedule Changes?

Hi,

Think we will bite the bullet and book Jet Blue because the SW flights for 10-27 are too high or an inconvienient time. We can book for $104 each on a morning non-stop BDL to MCO. SW is $154 for their morning non-stop.

Haven't booked yet because I need to know the following:
  • Does Jet Blue change planes and flight times like a lot of the other airlines do?
One of the reasons I try to fly SW is they don't change flight times and planes. What you book is what you get. When we used to fly Delta, we were always losing our seats becuase they would continually change the schedule. I don't like to fly to begin with and will freak if I end up on a small plane or lose my seats.

Thanks for any info or experiences you've had flying Jet Blue. I need to be talked into this. :)

We have flown on jetblue several times. We have had minor schedule changes a couple of times but its usually just a matter of a few minutes later or earlier. Nothing major.

Love Jetblue, I agree with previous post, if they change it is usually within the hour of the original flight time. Also keep checking the price after you purchase it, they will credit you on your next flight purchase with them if the price goes down.

Thanks for responding. Can you clarify please. If they change the flight times, do you lose your original seat and they reassign you to another?

Yes that can happen with Jet Blue just like it does with other airlines and it has happened to me more than once with JB. You should check your reservation occasionally to see if times or equipment have changed and whether they have reassigned your seats. If they change things on you, a phone call will probably be required to try and get it straighten out. I'm sure they will try but there's no guarantee they can.

Thank you, I really appreciate the information.
It's saving us $100 over Southwest so I'll take my chances and hope for the best along with checking the website often for any changes.

Thanks again!

Two times Jet Blue has changed my flight by a few hours ealier. I couldn't make it to the airport for that time, and they were happy to reschedule my flight to a more reasonable time - both times I went from from a stop over to non-stop flight at no extra charge. while I was on the phone, they were able to assign me seats. I don't think you should worry about it.

We've flown JB for years now and have only had minor time changes. Each time they've changed the times, we've received an email to let us know. In the email was a link to their website that you have to click to accept the change. Then you are able to see your flight info and reselect your seats. I've always been able to reselect the same seats that I had originally.

We are flying JB in April. I purchased our flights in August and nothing has changed since the day I purchased. We love JB! :lovestruc

They changed our flight time by about 30 minutes. I got an automated call notifying me. The plane did not change so our seats were still booked. When I was re-confirming our seat assignments, I noticed that the price had dropped by $91 pp and I got a $273 credit for future travel (3 tix).

When our plans changed a few weeks later and we found that we were able to fly out earlier than originally expected, I was able to use that $273 credit to change us to a morning flight. We ended up with a 12pm arrival instead of 9pm!

One thing to note, the credit for a dropped price is per each individual one way fare, even if booked as rt. So, make note of what fare you're paying for each way and if either of those prices drop - even if your total rt fare stays the same or goes up - you can get a credit for future travel.

One other thing to think of when calling for the credit if the fare drops. If you used the JB Amex credit card to book your flight and are expecting to recieve 6X the Trueblue points for using their CC and booking on line, you will no longer be eligible to receive to 6X points, you will now only receive 3X points.

So if the fare only drops by a few dollars it might not be worth it to request the credit.

I usually get at least 2 rt tickets per year with points, and when I called to tell them that they had shorted me some points for a recent trip, they explained the above new policy to me.

I know I said I'll take my chances but when the flight was chosen, I clicked on the flight number and you get a pop-up with %'s of delays, on-time, etc. This flight had a 10% chance of being canceled!:scared1: There are only two flights a day and the next one is too late in the day. I just couldn't do it. Now I have to decide if it's worth my piece of mind to justify the extra $100 for SW.

Thank you for all your input.

Chose jetBlue over SW for our flights in October. I Just could not see the point in spending $200+ more on SW. We are flying out of CT, hoping for no major changes!

I'm confused on this. I have the jetblue amex, and I was under the impression that with the new trublue, you no longer get any extra points for using the amex card. just the typical 1x.

Are you talking about the online booking points? 3x for booking plus additional 3x for the online booking? If so, I just recently called for a credit, and the nice agent told me she would send an email to the trueblue departemtn to re-instate the online booking bonus. This is because you cannot do the credit online, you must call for it. I haven't flown that flight yet, so we'll see what happens. I have previously lost the online booking bonus when I called for a credit...but this agent told me it is not necessary to lose it.

I was specifically told by a customer service rep in the TrueBlue Dept that they will no longer honor the additional 3x bonus points for online booking if you call to get a credit for a fare reduction (pretty sneeky seeing you can't do the credit without calling). They told me they have given the 6x points in the past but will no longer do it.
So if it's only a small credit it might not be worth it to lose the additional 3x points. If you do you will only receive the 2 points from Amex and 3x points from JB for a total of 5x, instead of the former 8x points.

I don't think the booking agents are aware of the policy change, so they may tell you they will reinstate the 3x bonus points but the TrueBlue Dept will probably not let approve it.

I hope that makes sense.
