Well-you know how I feel about those cheapie fares! Airlines, as with all businesses need to make a healthy profit to remain viable!! The margins have been way too low...

Based on the article I would say that if prices go higher it won't be significant. They cite the new reservation system and storm in the northeast US as two of three things that ate into their profits. The reservation system is now implemented and assuming they would only spend the money on such a system if it meant reducing costs later then I would say that is a one time hit. You can never control the weather, but the hope is that most of the bad weather is behind them so they should see good profits until next winter. All that leaves to deal with is the higher price of fuel.
