Is it worth using Jet Blue even if another airline has better flight times or prices? I Love jet blue but not sure how much money or time is worth the sacrifice for. Enter flight, tv, snacks, free bags etc...

For me, it all depends on where I'm going, how long the flight is, etc. I love JB..it's my airline of choice. But, if I'm going with just a carryon bag, then any airline, with good times and prices, will get it done for me. If I can use JB, I will...even if it's a bit more costly. But, I won't spend more than an addtl $25 to fly them.
When we fly out to Ca next month, we wanted an airline that had good times, shorter flights (hopefully non-stop), and the ability to get a credit if we are forced to cancel. JB filled those needs. Yes, SW would have given us a full credit (unlike JB that charges $100 for a change), but SW had not so great flight times, no non-stop, and the fares were quite a bit higher.
So, with JB, I get the inflight tv, one free checked bag pp, a bit addtl legroom, decent cancellation cost, and the flights I wanted.

It all boils down to ....
flight times
cost
free checked bag
tv's
legroom
I will pay a bit extra for those things.

It's worth it for our upcoming trip in Dec. due to the first bag free policy. I found a United flight closer to home (10 min drive vs. 40 mins for JB) but with 4 of us flying for a week long trip JetBlue is acutally $200 cheaper ($25 x 4 bags x 2 flights). My kids, 5 & 7, LOVE flying JB and feel like royality watching TV, drinking a soda and munching on snacks. It starts and ends our vacation very well.

Without checking bags it would have been a close call.

Yes it is.

It depends on the person and situation.

How is this helpful? Further posts, in this vein, will be deleted.

If I can get a flight for $60 or more less than Jet blue I'll take it. It's got to make up the difference for free baggage allowance.

IMO, Jetblue is no longer a discount airline. Their prices are quite high for the times we fly (esp Presidents week) and are quick to cancel flights at the first sign of bad weather.

That said, their service is pretty good. But I find their prices waaay higher. So its an easy choice.

Very much. And I have a more liberal range than Our Esteemed Moderator ;). jetBlue is about $100 higher than the cheapest r/t fare for my next trip, but I'm chose this airline anyway because:
  • They're not charging extra for my seat selection
  • They're not charging me to check the one suitcase I'll check
  • That suitcase doesn't actually need to be checked, since it'll fit in the larger than industry norm overhead compartment
  • If my fare goes down I can get the credit applied to my True Blue account with just a phone call
  • jetBlue is the only airline with nonstop flights to my destination

And I get bdklein's frustration :thumbsup2 ;)

You want frustration?????? Trying being the 'esteemed moderator'.....:crazy2::scared::confused3

I can say from experience with three airlines other than JetBlue that JetBlue is the best...especially if you have children. The seats are more comfortable, planes are newer (my husband is an airplane mechanic and says they have the best planes), the snacks are better, and the TV's are a lifesaver in keeping the kids occupied on long flights. I paid about $40 more per ticket for our Sept. trip, but feel it is totally worth it.
