Does jet blue board similar to southwest.. cattle call... or do they assign seats.??
They assign seats. They don't preboard any families unless the children are under age 2.
Not true it depends on the gate agent. More often then not they come over to us and tell us to pre board with my 5 yo including in MCO.

I've seen it also. We fly out of Logan, MCO and TPA most often. And I have seen the GA ask for those needing a 'bit more time' to get situated to board first, along with those with medical issues. It boggles my mind to see how many families 'need' that extra time!! Because we were in row 2, we were, obviously, the last to board. Well, my dd, almost 14, watched as all those families marched to the front of the line and said..."Hey, I'm a kid...I can manage to take a loooong time getting seated." Just boggles my mind...what's so darn hard about walking down a jetway, looking at numbers above the seats, finding your row and sitting down!!! But those people who just have to stand in the aisle, as they rummage through their carryon bag, above their head, to find what should have already been left out....well, you get the idea.
, too bad the armrests don't move) and it's VERY easy to get to. But the real reason I like to board last is on a tip from an American Airlines GA: if there are any entirely empty rows, I don't have to sit in 'my' seat - I can take any other seat/row. Great on red-eye flights

I fly jet blue all of the time and I have 3 little children and me and my husband never want to pre board we want to be last the sooner the plane takes off the better for us its hard to keep 3 little kids contained. Also they just made me buy a return ticket for my baby who is turning 2 the day we come home. I am a little fed up with them because of this I wouldn't mind if they would check birth cert and ids of children but they don't and I know I am going to see older children getting on without seats. I have flown many times with my children and not only am I not asked for id for them I am not even asked if they are my children I think there is something wrong with that.
How do they know your child will be two on the return flight? If they aren't checking birth certs, then why would you have to buy a seat? Some mention of it must have been made when booking or at some other point. JB, or any other airline, isn't just going to make a judgement about a child's age, with no prior knowledge. Now, if they did in fact check birth certs, then fine.
I'm one of those who believe that everyone should be in a seat on an airplane. But, that is my choice...everyone doesn't have to believe what I believe. And most don't.
I do have to agree with you on not preboarding with the kids though. It used to be that you were told to board at the last possible moment in order to have the kids seated as short a time as possible. I just can't understand the change in attitude now. I have no problem sitting, all stretched out, at the gate and the boading as late as possible. Every 10 mins I can cut off my time being squished in that seat on the flight is golden for me!!
I had called because my departing flight had decreased by $30 so I was entitled to a $120 credit when I called the agent told me she had noticed my youngest sons DOB was the 2nd (because when I booked they asked me for there DOBs) So I said yes and thats when she told me I had to buy a seat for him. I told her I have no problem buying him a seat but the previous agent had told me not to worry about it because they weren't going to bother me about this, but this agent said they would and she made a big deal about it so I got worried and bought the ticket that is the story of my life I can never get a deal I had to put the credit money toward that flight since that flight had now gone up to $234 when I had originally booked it it was only $109.
maybe because I always buy them their own seat even as babies?I had called because my departing flight had decreased by $30 so I was entitled to a $120 credit when I called the agent told me she had noticed my youngest sons DOB was the 2nd (because when I booked they asked me for there DOBs) So I said yes and thats when she told me I had to buy a seat for him.
