Jesus wasn't resurrected

I suspect what Amity was posting about is "witnessing", especially the rude way it has been done a few times by a couple pepple in this thread.

Many Christians have expressed that they feel they are "under attack", and IMO "witnessing" has a lot to do with that situation. I can tell you as a non-Christian that when it comes to "witnessing", non-Christians feel they are "under attack" as well.

well, you know what I think? I think this will be a time for all who believe he rose from the grave to get together and stand tall. what an opportunity to really talk about our Lord!! Sometimes you want to bring it up to people but you know it might not fit in the conversation...well, if they are already talking about it then you have the perfect chance to jump on in with what you know is true!! In time this will backfire on Cameron because the more Christ is talked about the better!! God bless everyone and stand tall and spread the word!! He lives!!

A *documentary* will not backfire on him. He himself said he is not discrediting the faith, just presenting what was found and possible interpretations.

I don't agree that we should have to hide our beliefs in our houses. We should all be free to express our faith, whatever it is we have faith in. I don't want anyone to feel that they have to hide. That's why I'm trying to be more aware on the board. I don't want to push people away from expressing beliefs and the paths that led to them. I find it fascinating to read about everyone's journey and how it influences their perspective on the world.

Very well said! I enjoy sharing my beliefs, and I also enjoy hearing about the beliefs of others. The DIS is a great place to be exposed to a huge variety of belief systems.

it's your deepest core belief, it's supposed to be the most personal relationship you can have.

why go shouting it to the rest of the world?

Because it effects how you view the world. No matter what you have faith in and what led you there, that belief system, that faith has influence on your view of the world. I know I come from a specific place because of my Christianity, I would think that a non-Christian would as well. The kind of issues we discuss here on the CB cut to the core of people's deepest core beliefs and there's just no way to keep them out. I find it more honest to say that I've developed a position that is influenced by my faith.

There's a difference between that and the kind of witness statement Cardaway is referring to. I know that Jesus did command that we share our faith with others, but I believe you can do that from a different position than "we're right, you're wrong and if you don't believe the way we do you're going to spend eternity in the hot place". There's also a point where even if the person asks for your witness, you have to let them make up their own mind and honor their choice. I respect the people on this board and I believe that they have come to their choices with as much deliberation as I have used to come to mine.

Yes, some ways are better than others and sadly not everybody uses them. Maybe if there was more reaction to those that use the style you posted (and I bolded) things would get to a place everybody could live in harmony with. But that's not what happens. People use the commission as be as rude as possible get out of jail free card. As a non-Christian on the receiving end of those I can tell you that more often than not the silence from other Christians is deafening.

more like backed against a wall at times, no matter how eloquent you try to present your side. then you just give up and let it rip.

so what's your take on this documentary?

I'm going to watch because I watch all that kind of stuff. After it's over I'll have a better idea, but just from what was on the Today show Monday, I think it's going to end up being inconclusive. Obviously they didn't show enough because Discovery channel is an NBC partner and they want us all to tune in there, so I need to see the whole thing first. We'll have to start a thread when it actually comes on. That's the one thing I don't know-when the heck is this thing being aired anyway??

Because Jesus said to shout it to the world. :goodvibes

Yes He did. But He wants us to share our faith from a place of love, not from a place of judgment. The Lord is the Judge, not us. We are called by Jesus to share our faith, but to share it with respect and love.

Well, if you hadn't pointed it out, I would not be concious of it at all. I was reading things with my own perspective and bias and not really considering how they impact on others who don't share that perspective. I'm working on being more aware and I hope that it will help others to do the same.

sunday, check your local listings. I don't think there's any earth-shaking evidence there as well. I'm going to tivo it and watch the special on the history channel about the dark ages.

Just so I understand you... are you saying you missed the posts that used that rude tone because of your bias?

a ban on religious billboards, road signs, and bumper stickers would be nice.

whenever I'm behind someone in traffic with an 'abortion stops a beating heart' bumper sticker I want to rear-end them.

:thumbsup2

We should also be accepting of what others have decided. The way I handle it is that I share my journey and if that leads someone to ask further questions then I'll go further. I let people come to me if they choose and if they don't I honor that choice.

Now to me that's just as intolerant as someone wanting to ban Cameron's show because it's offensive to their faith.

Put one on your car that says "I support a woman's right to choose".

IA. But your post reminds me of the incident when Jesus called a group of Pharisees a "brood of vipers." Jesus wasn't always PC.

To those of you who think its rude to mention eternal judgement. Your argument is with God, not me. I only stated what the Bible says. Jesus is the ONLY way to the Father. I never said you needed to turn or burn. But the truth is that the way is narrow not broad.

I am sorry but you will not hear me say that there are several paths to God or profess this buffet style spirtuality that many people have today. I, along with Paul proclaim that I am not ashamed of the Gospel. I wont present a milque toast version of Christianity.

I do not condemn or judge anyone. God can use everyone on this thread and board if He so chooses. God can draw you near to Him. You are all precious to Him and he desires to give you not only life BUT abundant life. But also know that God is a just and merciful God. The two go hand in had. I hope each one of you will come to a place where teh Holy Spirit will condition your heart to receive the Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.

yeah and I'm not real proud of it. When I read things they didn't strike me as rude because I wasn't looking at them from the perspective of a non-christian. I would just kind of gloss over it. Since you've made me more aware, I try to put myself in the shoes of someone who doesn't believe to see how statements would read from that perspective.
