it's your deepest core belief, it's supposed to be the most personal relationship you can have.
why go shouting it to the rest of the world?
Because Jesus said to shout it to the world.

well, you know what I think? I think this will be a time for all who believe he rose from the grave to get together and stand tall. what an opportunity to really talk about our Lord!! Sometimes you want to bring it up to people but you know it might not fit in the conversation...well, if they are already talking about it then you have the perfect chance to jump on in with what you know is true!! In time this will backfire on Cameron because the more Christ is talked about the better!! God bless everyone and stand tall and spread the word!! He lives!!
I don't agree that we should have to hide our beliefs in our houses. We should all be free to express our faith, whatever it is we have faith in. I don't want anyone to feel that they have to hide. That's why I'm trying to be more aware on the board. I don't want to push people away from expressing beliefs and the paths that led to them. I find it fascinating to read about everyone's journey and how it influences their perspective on the world.

Because it effects how you view the world. No matter what you have faith in and what led you there, that belief system, that faith has influence on your view of the world. I know I come from a specific place because of my Christianity, I would think that a non-Christian would as well. The kind of issues we discuss here on the CB cut to the core of people's deepest core beliefs and there's just no way to keep them out. I find it more honest to say that I've developed a position that is influenced by my faith.
There's a difference between that and the kind of witness statement Cardaway is referring to. I know that Jesus did command that we share our faith with others, but I believe you can do that from a different position than "we're right, you're wrong and if you don't believe the way we do you're going to spend eternity in the hot place". There's also a point where even if the person asks for your witness, you have to let them make up their own mind and honor their choice. I respect the people on this board and I believe that they have come to their choices with as much deliberation as I have used to come to mine.

I suspect what Amity was posting about is "witnessing", especially the rude way it has been done a few times by a couple pepple in this thread.
Many Christians have expressed that they feel they are "under attack", and IMO "witnessing" has a lot to do with that situation. I can tell you as a non-Christian that when it comes to "witnessing", non-Christians feel they are "under attack" as well.
so what's your take on this documentary?

Yes, some ways are better than others and sadly not everybody uses them. Maybe if there was more reaction to those that use the style you posted (and I bolded) things would get to a place everybody could live in harmony with. But that's not what happens. People use the commission as be as rude as possible get out of jail free card. As a non-Christian on the receiving end of those I can tell you that more often than not the silence from other Christians is deafening.
I'm going to watch because I watch all that kind of stuff. After it's over I'll have a better idea, but just from what was on the Today show Monday, I think it's going to end up being inconclusive. Obviously they didn't show enough because Discovery channel is an NBC partner and they want us all to tune in there, so I need to see the whole thing first. We'll have to start a thread when it actually comes on. That's the one thing I don't know-when the heck is this thing being aired anyway??
Well, if you hadn't pointed it out, I would not be concious of it at all. I was reading things with my own perspective and bias and not really considering how they impact on others who don't share that perspective. I'm working on being more aware and I hope that it will help others to do the same.

Yes He did. But He wants us to share our faith from a place of love, not from a place of judgment. The Lord is the Judge, not us. We are called by Jesus to share our faith, but to share it with respect and love.
a ban on religious billboards, road signs, and bumper stickers would be nice.
whenever I'm behind someone in traffic with an 'abortion stops a beating heart' bumper sticker I want to rear-end them.

Just so I understand you... are you saying you missed the posts that used that rude tone because of your bias?
