The hormones must be strong in the younger ones. Had a facebook feed pop up (didn't read the story but there was enough on the feed) that said he was 18 and courting a 17 year old. Wonder if they have to wait till she is 18 to marry as courting leads to marriage in a very short time in that family. Hopefully she is 17 11/12.

They keep getting younger and younger. So sad. A 17 year old with a full future ahead of her. Yet she is destined at the ripe old age of 17 to just be a breeder.

One of my son's high school friends wanted to marry his 17 year old girlfriend. They found out they could if the parents gave permission. Since they wouldn't, they got married as soon as she turned 18.

With parental consent in Arkansas, a girl can get married at 16, so they may not have to wait.

It is a popular show, but their highest rated episode ever drew 3.29 million viewers. So thankfully only about 1% of the US population. It's funny how TV and media can skew things to make them feel more widely watched than they really are.

Course, US Weekly only sells about 1.9 million magazines a month, so I suppose it is no wonder they want to tap into the Duggar's larger audience.

I caught a rerun of the show last week. Josh and Anna were visiting her sister in "Chicago". Obviously Priscilla lives in a suburb, not the city. Sure enough the show Josh and David (the BIL) shopping for camping supplies at a local store. I grew up on the area and recognized it right away. It was a hardware store in Hinsdale IL. Hinsdale is a very expensive suburb. It's where Bill (Guliana) Rancic lived before moving out west.

I just found it ironic that while the guys were shopping at a hardware store for camping stuff where it's much more expensive than a big bid store, the girls were at a thrift store saying "buy used and save the difference".

They made a big deal about taking their RV downtown when the easier solution would have been to hop on the train at the station a block away from that hardware store.

Funny you should say that. I don't believe they've ever spoken to it, but if I had to guess all money is controlled by Jim Bob. Would not surprise me to hear they can get a loan for approved purpose when the time comes, home, equipment for business startup, etc. I'm betting any money is loan only and paid back to Duggar, Inc(Jim Bob).

I think it's funny that people were talking about them waiting. They don't use birth control, just leave it open to God's plan. Waiting would mean no sex. Did people really think they would consider that an option?

He even insisted the older married daughter have a chaperone on her wedding day, on the way to pray at church. Because if they waited that long to kiss, I'm sure they couldn't control themselves for a couple more hours and would go to town in church.

I thought I was the only one incensed by the wedding day chaperone, during devotions and prayers in the church! Exactly how committed to your beliefs and values are you if you cannot handle yourself in that circumstance -- or better yet while calling your critically ill mother to check in and see if she's up to attending your wedding? Of course why ever would that have shocked me after they required the chaperone, and the camera crew, attend the visit to mom while she was in precarious condition during chemo.

As much as I'd like to say, good for you, it's not my way but God bless, the hypocracies keep piling up.

I just assumed when he became part of the cult, I mean family, they supplied them with their very own place on the compound.
