Jessa (Duggar) Seewald is pregnant!

What exactly do the spouses do to provide for their wives and children? Working for Jim Bob certainly does not in my mind sound like something I would ever want to do. What have they done with all the money from their show?

Not sure what they do with their money from the show but Ben takes college courses online and works for Jim Bob and Derick is a tax accountant ( I actually think he works at Walmart's Corp offices)

I just assumed when he became part of the cult, I mean family, they supplied them with their very own place on the compound.

Ugh, seriously, cult? It's fleet.

That's how the eldest son referred to one of the prospective husbands during one of the courting episodes where they were testing him with chores to complete. He passed the test and was deemed ready to become part of the "Duggar fleet". So demeaning.

I'm more annoyed that stories about them keep showing up on my facebook newsfeed. They seriously creep me out and I don't like having their dead eyes staring at me.

But, otherwise, I'm tired of their fifteen minutes of celebrity and don't really see how it's news that a quiver full family is having babies. Duh

so this thread made me curious and I googled Jim Bob's net worth. The source may not be all that reliable tho~

Yeah, the reference to the mega-wedding makes that source see questionable. If you saw any of it, you would know it wasn't fancy at all. The only thing mega was the size. The girls bought their shoes at Shoe Carnival, and made the ties the guys wore. Though I guess even root beer floats for 1000 people costs a lot.

I wonder if People Mag will do photo spreads on each pregnancy from now until eternity?
Such NON news

Wait a minute, you're looking at PEOPLE for news?

I'm an agnostic, moderate (who tends to lean left), who actually left my childhood church (fundamentalist Nazarene) because even at 12 I knew something was wrong with those people.

I like the show. I don't agree with their politics, or their life choices but they are entitled to their beliefs, they don't hurt anyone (nor live off welfare or handouts), they have a good work ethic, their kids are polite but no so goody goody that you can't imagine them occasionally getting in trouble, and they at least have the balls to stand up for what they believe in and live the life they preach.

I'm glad they're happy and hope she has a safe pregnancy.

Can't someone beam the Duggar's and Kardashian-Jenner's to another planet??? Never to be heard from again??? Bonus points for a triple beam by including the Gosselin's. :teleport:
What might be entertaining would be a reality show that made them interact...

I find it surprising that so far all of the married couples have been so super fertile. I was married and trying for a baby at 21, and it took us 4 years to get pregnant. I know so many other couples struggling with it. I certainly am not wishing it on the Duggars- not at all. I'm just thinking of how much more difficult it would be for someone in the Duggars family to go through it, when procreation is one of their primary focuses in life.

It really doesn't surprise me at all. Infertility in American women in their early 20's is really pretty rare as a percentage of the general population, and as Michelle Duggar's daughters they have heredity on their side as well. A woman who can manage 18 healthy prenancies in a row (including several spontaneous multiples) with only one known miscarriage over the course of 22 years is someone who is producing a lot of viable eggs. The most common scenario would be that her daughters would be similarly fertile.

I grew up in a religious family. My maternal grandmother, my mother, my mother's sister, and my eldest sister all got pregnant on their wedding nights -- you had better believe I didn't dare get careless until I was actually ready to bear a child.

I'm sorry that infertility did happen to you at that age, but it really is rare in the larger scheme of things.

Michelle Duggar had two miscarriages. She lost a child after Josh. She was on birth control. It was that loss that made them decide to ditch the bc and try the full quiver approach.

She then loss the last pregnancy. Which would have been Jubilee.

I hope her labor isn't as awfully long.

I loved this family from the very beginning of their TV show.

As the kids have gotten older my views have changed and I don't really like to watch them anymore.

I can not understand why these kids can not wait at least a few months before having babies.
It's like they have no concept that they may want to enjoy their spouses, being young, do anything besides having babies.

It's kinda sickening to me now.

Infertility also happens to men. So,Jim Bob's and Michelle's genetics only account for 1/2 of every equation with their kids. I would be willing to bet that at least one couple of that 19 kids will have fertility issues. And, I can't imagine how much worse it would be for them as the pressure to procreate is so strong and pervasive in that family.

Wouldn't they chalk that up to God's plan? Well they would if they weren't hypocrites.
