HELP HELP!

Okay so here is my problem. My venue totally won't do either my dream cake OR my backup. So I need your help big time. I need a cake that is simple but still really pretty. I have a place that I can order light blue flowers with pearls, light yellow flowers with pearls and seashells (white). I have open for suggestions. They can't do fondant which is the big problem. I was anti beach cake but at this point....I don't care. The only thing I don't like is draping and they can't do an insane about of dots....(that was the back up cake! ) I think I want a yellow or blue cake...but I am open for suggestions. We are def using our cake topper. This is a big stressing subject for me....so HELP!

You could also go with ribbon and flowers, and maybe some swirls or scrolls...

Here are two more simple ones along the same lines:

You could also have them coat the cake in something, this one is coconut but I bet they could do shaved white chocolate or something else to add texture.

Here are a few beach ones. Is anything else beach themed? I would probably stay away from it if not.

Hope those help. If you wanted to go with an outside cake maker, a woman I work with makes awesome cakes like Ace of Cakes type cakes. I'm sure it's already included so you'd probably rather go with your hall but just wanted to mention that in case it would help.

They don't do anything fondant. Which when I first went there they said...if you want fondant it will be a little bit more. so...they just keep changing their mind on me.

After I made this post I was looking around...this is a cake I found when I was first looking and really liked it....and passed it over..guess I wasn't sure if It would look good with the cake topper. What colors do you think if I did this? white? Or blue or yellow? Which flowers? (sorry i'm annoying) Would it be too bold if I did a blue cake with the white accents (and flowers) and yellow roses? Or would it be better blue cake with blue accents and the small blue flowers and yellow roses.....or white cake, white accents but small blue flowers and yellow roses? How big do you think the roses should be, they come in 2" and 1 1/2"? is it bad for me to have roses when nothing else has roses?

We are having a beach themed wedding but I don't want to KILL the beach thing...ya know? So....maybe its a bad idea for me to even think about that. I just thought it would be the easiest because they just have to put the shells on. (but then what am I PAYING for?)





Okay....I have something thats bothering me but I don't know if I can rightfully be annoyed...so you ladies can tell me! So I have been a little stressed out...seems like everything I do goes wrong and I have to start over. Like I printed some pages for the invites then my mom calls me and tells me a time needs to be changed..(couldn't she have said then BEFORE?!) So yes...I have been a little moody...saying all this...

My SIL (BM) calls me yesterday just to chat and we have a long convo and such, including when she is going to get her measurements in. (she is calling them in so they are all ordered from the same place) Now she goes....I need to try it on because I might need to order a bigger size...now I can see where this is going but she isn't saying it she is just saying I need a bigger size. so i'm like okay i'll bite.....are you pregnant? She goes no but I might be...Now..This is someone who always said she NEVER wanted children and her and my brother JUST started saying they thought they wanted one. Is it mean to be a little annoyed that they have just decided and they have to get pregnant IMMEDIATELY? I think the thing that annoys me the most is...when Me and DF got engaged, her and my brother were the first people I called. (she had done the same for me) and she was MAD because it was 3 months after her wedding and I was stealing her thunder!!! She said that you get a year of glory or something for your wedding and people who get engaged between that her rude. So now....after she made a whole big thing and refused to speak to me....she is TRYING to get pregnant when its my wedding. (PS my BMs dresses will not look good with someone pregnant....) Also they live far away....sooo..my wedding will probably be the next time they are on the island....so everyone will be all....oooooing and ahhhhhing over her...which for once...I thought it was my turn? They just decided...can't they wait a touch? is this wrong that I'm kind of annoyed?

I think this one would be beautiful in blue, with the white accents and yellow roses. But that looks like fondant to me... Did they have a portfolio of cakes that they've done in the past and will do again? You could get them to alter one of those to something like what you're after.


I understand your annoyance at your sis, one of my besties - who was going to be part of the wedding - has just announced that her and her boyfriend are going to be trying for a baby starting in March, which means if they fall pregnant straight away they'll have a 3 month old at our wedding - which will mean they wont be going, if they fall pregnant any time between March and June they'll still have a very young baby, and wouldn't be coming, any time after that and she'll be massive, and for a good part of the pregnancy not be able to fly, and therefore not coming... It's annoying because other friend's of mine that have been wanting a baby for probably 2 years now have specifically said that they're going to not try until after our wedding... To be honest I'd never say anything because even though we're best friends, my wedding is a pretty unsubstantial event in their life, and the choice to have a baby is pretty huge for them, but it's alright to be annoyed...

3 people have gotten engaged since DF and I, one of them (my cousin) is now married, DF's cousin is getting married soon, and DF's brother will be married in October... It was our choice to have a long engagement, so long as no one steals my colours or ideas then it doesn't worry me much... But I can still be annoyed

Ya know i'm liking that you choose that one because thats the one me and DF were talking about last night! I really don't know why they can't do fondant (because they are jerks and are trying to annoy me maybe? haha) but they can't and seriously....sounds like more of a headache then I am willing to deal with. SO The picture is fondant but I am sure it will look fine in buttercream....most places can get the buttercream to look really smooth (plus it tastes better!!) So I am TRYING to look on the bright side.

I mean...I guess I am a jerk for being annoyed but its mainly because she made my life HELL for 3 months....I don't agree with the whole stealing my glory if anything happens to a friend or family member during the year after the wedding. thats just SILLY, but thats what she did to me. As far as the jewelry goes i'm not sure because i'm afraid of needles and only have my ears pierced lol. BUT if it were up to me the only thing i wouldn't do it the eyebrow. I'd keep the monroe really small (i like that it adds alittle bit of sparkle! hehehe) and the clear earrings. I'd be afraid that the eyebrow would distract from everything else. But thats just my opinion and how i would do it... you do whats most comfortable for you!

Thanks! I'm glad you like the new cake....and as long as the venue okays it we are good to go and no more stressing with that!!! So keep you figures crossed. I was going to call today...but as you know I had a mild freak out and decided it was best to wait...just in case she said no! hahaha

I think this whole thing with my sil just was the icing on the cake ya know? sent me a bit over the top....I think that sounds like a grand idea. I have 7 invites to make and send out by saturday...so that our UK guests can make any further arrangements....then I would love to just chill and not think about future headaches (like school starting on thursday...) I watched a bad movie tonight and ate junk food...because i deserved it. Back to diet and exercise tomorrow....but it was fun for one night!

I think you are totally right with the jewelry....I didn't pay very much at all for it so its not like a loose and I can use it just to be fun another time! I still need to order a ring for my upper ear that I forgot with the first order. Yeah....I guess I have surpassed being nervous of needles...at least you got your ears done! A lot of people who were afraid of needles wouldn't even do that (I know they don't use needles anymore....but that gun thing isn't much better!!)

I think the piercings are pretty. I'm going through the same thing with my parents. They want my back tattoos covered and have asked me to take out my tongue ring. We made a compromise and I'll cover my back with makeup but the tongue ring stays

I would go with the 2" roses since I'd want them to be bigger than the stephanotis. The navy ribbon would look really nice and pop more than a light blue I think.

Aww, I'm sorry about the drama with your DSIL. I never got why people think they are the star of the show the entire year they're getting married. I'm sorry she treated you that way.

While I think they could probably wait to have a baby, it's really their decision but I get why you'd be upset and given the way she acted when you got engaged it could come across as a way for her to try to steal your thunder, so I definitely get why it rubbed you the wrong way.

For us, if DFSIL gets pregnant DF's brother won't be coming to the wedding and he's the best man. They have been having trouble having a baby though so I definitely wouldn't want them to wait if they can get pregnant now. I think they have to wait a few months before trying again, and say they will definitely come now...but who knows. DF has a back-up plan just in case though.

Well...it has been a fight with my mom for a while. She has guilt tripped me to wait to get my back tattoo til after the wedding. The dresses I picked are very form fitting.....because all the girls are super tiny and I thought would look rockin! but....I would have done like a flowy dress ya know? Bit late now..

I had a small snag with the invites.....and I can't get any printer to take my envelopes like I wanted......so I think I have to use clear labels.....is this going to look terrible?!?! it worries me...

I don't get why people are so against tattoos showing in a wedding? You clearly got them because you liked them and they meant something to you right? Guess its an older generation or something? My mom is still upset about my stretching my ears....and actually asked if I could shrink them back...sigh...maybe she will like it with the bling..its not as obvious what they are unless you know I have them.

She originally told me she would be trying in july/august and got pregnant in end of may. I know you can't tell people what to do but she is young and could have waited. especially since she has a son already. i mean all our friends waited until after my wedding and they are older then her. my sister is selfish and always has to steal my thunder in some way. The whole story is in my PJ if you want to read it. You know what i think she now regrets not coming. even the makeup artist who never met my sister told me the day of my wedding that she sounded gulilty and sad on the phone the morning she called to wish me good luck. i will tell you this, it is something i will never forget. people do things for their own agendas but if she does get pregnant don't let it ruin your day. also don't make any concessions for her ie changing dress because she will look fat or whatever. this is what she wants for her life and you need to do what is right for your life and wedding. remember this is about you and luke and that is all that matters.

I understand being mad about the pregnancy! For me and DF, when we found out his SIL is due 1 month after our wedding, we were excited, since we don't like her, and were happy she couldnt come (horrible I know, but she is literally the meanest person I have ever met). But than we thought about the shower and at home reception, and thought about the same thing as you...steeling the thunder! Preggo people often do steal all the attention....but I think for something like a wedding, it will be focused on the bride and groom!

I think thats so funny....well it did work out in your favor so you don't have to deal with her on that day! I am sorry that she is going to affect your at home reception...Ya know what I think is funny with this whole thing. all the woman who are pregnant and affecting you, Steph and my weddings....are already married (I am guessing here...) So they already had their big day! and probably would have KILLED someone if they did it to them! Oh well! Now I am just thinking its so ridiculous that its funny..(I will probably change my mind at some point but for now it is!
