Am off to bed in a moment - the school I teach in is in special measures (although our department has the best exam results in the school) and we're all being put under pressure to do lots of extra work, so am getting really tired. After we had all walked back outside we chatted for a bit before being taken back into the gazebo for our toast and to look at the cake. We had exchanged the Fairytale Cuvee for the cider, and I'm really glad we did as it was so refreshing! It had been hours since I'd had any liquid, although I didn't notice until I finally drank something. Our cake was beautiful - the pictures in the planning pack really didn't do it justice.

My mum made the toast, and got a little teary again, which was very sweet, and she welcomed Carl into the family as "Number 3" (my brothers are numbers 1 and 2!).

After the toast we were posing for photos and thought we would soon be cutting the cake. Randy kept getting us to kiss so we weren't really aware of anything going on around us. Eventually we realised mum was trying to get our attention, and looked up. I did a double take as...

...we realised Mickey and Minnie were coming towards us, hand in hand with Amelia and preceded by a very excited Joshua! My mum had booked them as a surprise - it's no wonder she had such a good relationship with Tanis and Rosie!

Thank you - I loved that it was floaty without overwhelming me - I've always been a fairy rather than a princess lol Plus my favourite play is A Midsummer Night's Dream, so it has a little of that Grecian influence.

Thank you - we definitely enoyed our first husband and wife kiss!

I'm so glad Amelia was our flower girl, and that she felt free to be herself. It definitely wasn't like a big formal occasion and it created some wonderful memories for everyone.

That's a good question about the cake! I think it varied all the way round, to give it that retro look, but I'm not 100% sure. Carl thinks it was varied too, though, so I'm sure he's right!

Once we had seen Mickey and Minnie they came right over to us, holding Amelia's hand all the time. We hugged them, and played with the children for a bit, which was lovely.

As we were talking and meeting all of a sudden there was an almighty crash - the guy serving the drinks had knocked over four of the spare wine glasses and they smashed - Mickey and Minnie's reactions were so funny!

The next part was to actually cut the cake and, all I can say is that it was a good job we had Mickey and Minnie to help - we weren't very good at it because it had gone quite soft in the heat, lol.

We were then offered a plate with small pieces of the first slice of cake, and we realised that we were supposed to feed each other. Carl said I deliberately picked a big piece for him Mickey and Minnie then had napkins ready for us afterwards.

Thank you once again for the comments - it really was a lovely surprise from my mum - unbeknownst to us she had another one in store for later on as well!

Amelia has apparently been talking about the wedding this weekend, and has told us that she has been practising her dancing so she can dance with her cousin, Oscar (my other brother and SIL's son, who didn't come as his mum was heavily pregnant!).
