Jello Spritz Butter Cookie Recipe per requests..

Me too. How much do they cost???

I don't really know - because I have an electric cookie shooter - which includes all different disks for Christmas trees; hearts; ribbons; stars; flowers; etc... At first it was tricky to use, but it didn't take long for me to get the hang of it.. When you have it pressed down on the cookie sheet and you're pulling the trigger, if you listen very carefully there's a different "sound" it makes when "just" the right amount of dough has come out to make a perfectly shaped cookie.. :)

I think a hand-held one - where you actually have to push the dough out yourself - really wouldn't be very expensive at all..

Good luck! :santa:

You might be able to use a large pastry bad with a big tip of some kind and just squeeze them out into little logs or ropes to form wreaths. My cookie press wasn't cooperating once, so I just hand formed little wreaths. They weren't the prettiest but they tasted fine.

I got one of the non-electric ones from a local grocery store for $11.99 the other day. I believe it was a Wilton cookie gun.

I checked out ACMoore, and found one with a trigger for 14.99. I had a half-off coupon, too, so it only cost me 7.50 :cool1:

Can't wait to try these with the DD! She'll love the cookie gun ;)

C.Ann,

Do you soften your butter? Every receipe I have calls for softened butter, but I just want to make sure.... YOu would think I would know the answer to this.....

I've never used my cookie press nor made spritz cookies before..... Creme burlee, yes, spritz cookies, No :lmao:

Good luck! Now do you have some sprinkles; colored granualted sugar; or other such decorations to sprinkle on top to make them look pretty and festive? If not, remember you will have to SAVE some of the dry Jello if you're going to sprinkle that on top (which will take away from the full flavor of the cookies) unless you want to buy an extra box..

Have fun with your DD and your new "toy"..:santa:

Yes - I always let it sit out and soften for awhile unless a recipe specifically says "cold" butter.. It's much, much easier to mix that way..:thumbsup2 I usually take it out of the fridge an hour or so before I start making the mix..:santa:

That what I thought, just wanted to be sure.

There's still two posters who specifically requested this recipe that haven't popped in yet, so I'm bumping this up for them..:santa:

Those sound very cool. Maybe I'll make them next year, as I'm going to try doing chocolate spritz this year. I would love to make lime green trees, and red flowers.

Okay, I printed this recipe out and I'm going to try it but does anyone have any tricks for getting the dough to come out of the gun? I always have trouble with mine sticking.

Are you using an electric gun - or a hand held cookie press? If you're using an electric one, a few posts back I described how to get the knack of it.. There's a change in the pitch of the sound when you have released just enough dough on the cookie sheet for the perfect shape..

What exactly do you mean by "sticking"? In the tube? Too much coming out on the cookie sheet? Maybe I can help if you clarify - although I have always only used my electric cookie shooter - never a hand held..:santa:

i have non electric one, and i find that the dough sticks less if i chill it for a little while before putting in the press - like 20min or so.

Recipe sounds good.

I have an old hand held press that I've used like twice in 32 years of marriage. It's such a pain.

herc.

I'm glad she bumped it, otherwise I wouldn't have seen it. :goodvibes

Me too!!! I am not much of a baker but my kids always want to make Christmas cookies and these look simple enough(famous last words..:lmao:) Now I have to go get a cookie press:banana:

I agree, chill the dough. Or it could be that your dough is "wet" too start with? Do you need to add more flour?

Just trying to help.
