Jedi Training Signups Today (5/24/16)

At 8:10 how did you know 3 of the 4 ADR lines converted to JTA lines? Did you already have an idea that this would happen ahead of time? Was there an announcement made? Did they change the signs? I'm curious if everyone there at 8:10 was made aware of the JTA lines.

Wondering the same thing

They came out great. At the end, when they present the kids to the crowd, they dim the lights, ask them to activate the lightsabers again, with the sound and it looks really cool.

Those are great pictures!! When was this? Seriously, I feel like it's still quite bright here at 7:40 pm (June 14th). But my kids would go nuts for the lit light sabers. Totally different effect. Ack - so torn!!

Thank you so much for the detailed info! I'm sure it will all make sense once we are there. But since we are total newbies to the Star Wars world, I want to make sure that I'm as prepared as possible for JTA so I greatly appreciate the details. [P.S. I can't help but read your posts and replies in Ron Swanson's voice based on your avatar - lol]

1. So you showed the kids which dots to stand on ahead of time.
2. When they were checked in, they could just proceed to any dot they wanted?
3. And then after the dots were filled, that's when they rearranged the kids in height order?
4. They didn't tell the kids to stand on one side or the other?
5. Any chance the Vader side would get filled up first?

6. Also, I keep hearing that, since there's no shade in the waiting area, it gets hot. Would most people recommend a morning time slot to get this done before the high heat of the day? We are going to be there June 14th, so it will be hot, I'm sure. Originally I wanted to shoot for the 7:40 pm slot with the hope we could get the light sabers to light up for the show. However, given that there are no fireworks that night, I've changed our HS evening to another night and contemplating hopping to another park. Just wondering if it would be worth hanging around all day for the lit light sabers? I feel like at 7:40 pm on one of the longer days of the year, it won't really be dark enough to get the full effect. So thinking we should just do it early and get it done with. Any thoughts on this are appreciated!

Just checked out this morning and getting around to responses.

1. Yep. They are just sort of rubber ovals that they place on the pavement and aren't permanent, so I don't know if they're always out at signup time. Knowing the position of each row and the corresponding character should be enough though.

2. Yes. Obviously the more promptly you arrive the more choices there are. I should emphasize that the kids for the session just before yours will still be on the dots until a few minutes before your check in time so there's nothing to be gained by being too early.

3. Yes.

4. They do encourage kids from the same family to get in the same line, but I think that's more for the convenience of parents wanting to watch and take pictures since one line performs on the raised stage and the other performs at "street level." Our kids stayed in separate lines since they knew which characters they wanted to face and DW and I split picture taking duties.

5. Always a chance Vader's side fills up first, and for our session that was the case.

6. Avoiding the midday and early afternoon heat is recommended if possible. The sun beats down on the lineup area, the audience area and virtually all of the stage.

Good luck with JTA in June!

P.S., I sometimes proofread my own posts in Ron Swanson's voice. (Including this post script). :thumbsup2

thanks so much for the info! I am a little nervous about the sign ups! This will be our first time with our 6 year old jedi ; )

The best advice I can give for signup is to get to bed early the night before so you can be at the tapstiles an hour before the official park opening time.

I had read posts on the DIS about instances where they let JTA signup guests in earlier. I asked a CM when we arrived which side to line up on, knowing the signup area in the park is to the left. The CMs were directing the JTA groups to those lines, although I expect only those closest to the front or those who came up to ask questions really knew what was going on. We were about 4 groups back in one of the lines, so we heard a CM mention at 8:10 that they would be opening those lines at 8:30. Again, only guests within earshot of that CM would have a chance of knowing what was going on. I wouldn't be surprised if there were people wanting to sign up standing in the other lines and wondering what was going on.

The entry process would be much smoother if they 1) did it consistently and 2) directed people where to line up for JTA as they came through security.

Thank you so much for the detailed information. I would have never thought to try for the latest show, but I know my kids won't last in the sun through waiting and the show, I really appreciate all the info!

I think it was 6:40 in February. Was the 2nd to last show, I know that.

If we shot for a later show - say 6:40...does that leave enough time to get to Fantasmic if we have either dining package seating or FP+? I think I scrapped our water park plans for this day so am now trying to rearrange everything. And I like the idea of the later show for the effect of the light sabers turned on.
