Jedi Training Sign Up Questions

Hi,

My son is just getting into the Star Wars movies and loving them, so I think he'd like the Jedi Training. Our HS day is following a late night at MK so not planning on making it for rope drop. So a couple questions...

  1. If we get to HS say around 10:30am and head straight for the sign up, is there still a chance that he'd get a spot?
  2. If there is room, is there a choice of a time? i.e. I'm thinking of getting Toy Story Mania FP for say 2ish...but what if Jedi Training says to return for the same time? Or is the return time more flexible?

PS - Having such a hard time with HS touring time with all the set show times. :guilty:

No. They may still be letting people sign up for standby spots, but you would then only get to participate if someone who had a spot didn't show up for theirs.

They let us pick when we did this last week. Of course we were second to sign up for the day, so everything was available.

The JTA spots fill fast and I wouldn't be surprised if there were none left by 10:30a. Return times are not flexible though if you sign up early enough you may be given a choice of return times. If your child isn't there on time they'll use an alternate in his place.

We did Jedi training. We arrived at RD, and people literally ran (picked up their children and ran) for signups.

At 11ish, when we went to check-in for our scheduled training, people were coming to sign up and there was nothing. I believe they were allowed to add their child's name to the wait list of whatever time slot they wanted, though.

Thank you for the responses. So guess we'll give it a try, but realistically won't expect to get a spot...and will just book Toy Story FP for when it fits rather than trying to work around the possibility for getting Jedi Training.

Last time my family was in DH, we did what you were talking about. My son was the #22 stand by. We had to go back and forth all day to see if he made the cut. After a couple of failed tries, I talked to the cast member in charge. He told me to come back at dinner time. That I when most people miss their scheduled time.

When my family went back at dinner time, I spoke to the same cast member. He was optimistic that my son would get in but they take only 12 children. When the final count was made, there were 13 children and my son missed the cut. The cast member called a supervisor and got permission to add an additional child. So, my son got into the show. It worked out in the end because one of the other kids got stage fright and walked off. If your child really wants to do the training academy the cast members can be very helpful.

Wow...am so glad the CM got permission to add your DS, when he was just one over the cut off. Bet he loved it!
Am not hopeful for us (but won't hurt to try) as we have dinner ADR at 5:15pm followed by Fantasmic. So would have to go before then....I guess no later than 4:45pm or so.

If the Wait List is your only hope, also try the last two sessions of the evening - 7:10 and 8:00. There are a lot of no shows for those sessions. It is very rare that an additional child gets added on as there are time constraints for the shows... DD is an onstage CM and the show has to move along as scheduled to be completed in 20 minutes as it isn't fair to the CMs in costume and on the stage.

The sign-up CMs don't always understand how an additional or underage child can bog down the show and cause issues as they are never at or on the JTA stage.

Where are the sign ups done exactly? Is it at the stage or somewhere else?

The ABC Sound Studio/Sounds Dangerous building. It's located between the American Idol screen and the JTA stage. It's located adjacent to the Restroom Building.

Bless your soul for being so detailed :lmao:

But HS closes at 7pm (rides/attractions) followed by Fantasmic at 7:30pm

Last Summer when my children did JTA they had both Darth Vader and Darth Maul out which doubled the capacity. Darth Vader was on the stage and Darth Maul was in the area in front of the stage. This meant more children got to take part.

The child and the parent both need to be there. If the child or parent is not present, they will not even let you in the building to wait in line to sign up.

Good to know! I was going to send DH and DS off to ride Star Tours while I signed him. Glad I asked. :-)
