Has anyone heard anything about how this would work. Wondering if you would sign up on the ship or if they just pick from the audience like they do at Disneyland. We're on one of the first cruises after dry dock so we might just have to figure out when we get on board!

"At Disney's Oceaneer Club, step into the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon and pilot the ship into hyperspace, or learn how defend yourself against the Dark Side and earn your Jedi Knight certificate at the Jedi Training Academy."

Sounds to me like the training academy is in the club. I am curious as to how it will work as well. I can't imagine they would have a sign up for in-club events ahead of time or leave out kids who want to participate that are in the club that day, but I could be wrong. Can't wait to hear about it from the first group sailing after dry dock!

Thanks! I hadn't seen that description before so yes that makes it so like it will be in the club for everyone!

I was just looking for info on this....

The Disney Cruise Blog just posted an article with video that has the details. It looks really neat and my kids will love it!!
We go in 2 weeks so I'll be sure to report back as well!

I would also love a first hand report of this activity. It looks awesome, and we hope that our older daughter enjoy it on our Dream cruise in April 2016!

There is a new video up on youtube of falcon area- as well as some Jedis in training - seems very cool - You can just do a search for disney dream falcon youtube and it will bring it up if the link is not allowed.

Does anyone know if we have to sign the kids up ahead for this activity?

We just got off the Dream last week and my son did the Jedi Training in the Oceaneer's Club. A Jedi came in and they learned about using the force to move objects and other Jedi mind tricks. Then some Stormtroopers came in and the crowd of kids (Force Sensitive Younglings) used a force push to send them on their way. . . It is cute. Additionally, the Jedi Training Academy was listed in the Navigator one day. They do not provide any info on how to register and if registering is necessary. (In WDW you have to sign up first thing in the morning, and at DL they picked the kids from the audience.) I spoke with some other parents in line at the theater and no one know how they were going to pick the kids. One of the kids in line was dressed as Kylo Ren complete with light saber and he was really ready to go. His parents were also clueless about how they are selected. We were seated in the front row and waiting for them to start when I heard young Kylo Ren's mom say she was going to find someone and figure out what was going on. I didn't notice that she took young Kylo Ren with her. A few minutes later they lowered the lights and marched in and up on the stage with 6 or 8 kids in Jedi robes. When they took their turns battling Darth Vader I notice that young Kylo Ren was up there with them. I don't know where/how they selected the kids, maybe they made the selections in the Oceaneer's Club that morning (my son had decided to go watch Zootopia with our family that morning so he wasn't in the Club) or maybe they just picked some kids from the theatre that were seated in the back, but they never made any announcements at all. And I'm not sure who young Kylo Ren's mom talked with to get him into the show, but kudos to her. I felt like I really dropped the ball when I didn't go search out someone to tell me how to get my son into the Jedi training. My son was upset, but I reminded him that he'd done it at WDW and DL so he should not be sad to miss it this time. This was the one event that we attended that I felt there was not enough information provided before everything started.

By no means did it ruin our day, but I thought I'd post so maybe the next parent could be more prepared that I was. My recommendation would be to ask questions in the Oceaneer's Club or maybe at Guest Services beforehand to see how the kids are selected.

We did this on our cruise in March, it is completely random, but here's what we gathered.

They have to be a certain age/size, I think between 6-12 years. The child must have closed toed shoes on, show up early before they open the theater and have your child behaving. Basically they just look over kids as they walk in and pull a few aside.

My son was chosen on our cruise in May for the Jedi Training in the theater. We showed up early (about 15 minutes) and were waiting for the doors to open. A CM was walking up and down the line and was apparently searching for someone who met his specifications. DS7 had a storm trooper shirt on which I'm sure helped (and yes, he was very well behaved!). The CM pulled him aside, talked to him a bit, asked him if he was a big Star Wars fan and when DS said 'yes', he asked him to hang back. He picked out 2 other kids from our side and another CM picked 3 kids from the other line.

Next thing I knew, we went to sit down while DS hung in the back of the theater and then he marched down in his Jedi gear. It was adorable and he had sooooo much fun.

Does anyone know if the "temple" training is in the club or in the theatre on the Cruise? Shoreside acted like it's a ticketed event so curious as to where it is

Temple bfbon the Dream in January was held at the theatre. First 30 kids in line were chosen as long as they could understand and communicate with cm. They asked smaller kids more questions than mine 8 and 10. I went an hour early to stand in line. No one really gave me any info before and I asked 2 different cms.
It was on our sea day

Thanks cheapster... I wonder if my semi verbal 8 year old ASD kid could do this.... I might have her sit in the audience and let the 5 year old do it.
