Happy day-after-Thanksgiving! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!! We enjoyed time with my brother, who is visiting from CA, and my mom and Dad. Two aunts, an uncle and my grandfather also joined us for dinner - it was great to spend time with them, since we don't see them that often. Then we left the kiddos with my mom and dad and headed out for...Black Friday!! Yes, we were some of the crazy people out in the wee hours of the morning on the coldest morning so far this year in Indiana....

I never was a Black Friday person until about five years ago, when I finally accompanied my in-laws on their yearly outing. I was amazed at how much fun we had!! Now I tell people all the time how much fun it is...as long as you don't have a huge list of things that you MUST have. And this year, I learned to follow my own advice. Since I'm getting my master's degree, I wanted a laptop of my own. Right now I have assignments on our desktop, my husband's laptop from work, and even one on my teacher machine at school. I wanted to keep them in one place. So, we scoured the ads and found one that DH thought would work, but that wasn't at a place where I would have to camp out. We were at Sam's club later than we wanted to be, but the line wasn't awful, so I thought we'd be ok. Unfortunately, when the girls passing out tickets got to about the fifth person in front of me, they annouced that all of the laptops were gone. So, so much for that idea. But the morning could still be saved - we were going to get several things crossed off our lists for the kids. The things we wanted weren't really "doorbusters," so we thought we'd be ok. And we were...seven stores later!!! I really need to follow my own advice and just go for the fun and to see what we can find instead of having an agenda. I was very frustrated at times this year, which hasn't happened before. Oh, well - lesson learned. And we did manage to hit the
Disney store this morning at 12 a.m., and got several things for the kids' stockings. Talk about PACKED!! There were plenty of decent deals, though. I was wishing that DD was a little younger again, because some of the things were so cute!! Unfortunately, she's at the age where I'm not sure how much longer she'll like Princesses and dress-up, so I'm trying not to get her BIG things that are tied to that. Will got a few things, though - he's majorly into Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and I think he'll like what we got.
Anyway, on to the second part of today's post....I told you a while back that I would prove to you that my family is too far gone with this Star Wars obsession for me to do anything about it. Now that the pictures have finally been copied to the computer (I admit, my IT guy husband does all the tech stuff around here - I know almost nothing about how to do anything!), I can do that.
You've all seen the pictures of Haley and Jack dressed up as Star Wars characters for Halloween. Well, my MIL is a big fan of after-the-holiday sales, and she told me before she visited us a few weeks ago that she had something for Will to go along with it. Sure enough, I came home from school on the day she arrived, and this is what I saw.....
Yes, she found a Yoda costume for toddlers. Surprisingly enough, he LOVED it, and wandered down the sidewalk to meet Daddy when he came home (which, of course, made DH's day). He also was very fond of the Yoda stuffed animal that Sue brought.
So, of course, the other two had to get their costumes and get into the act.
And finally, the master and the padawan...
Ok, I've gotta go. DH went back out to the stores (I swear, it's a way for him to unwind...I just let him go) and the little ones are kinda cranky from the past few long days. My mom ended up getting hit by a stomach bug last night not long after we left, and I think Will might have a touch of it, because he's just not acting himself. So it's time to get off the computer. Have a great rest of your holiday weekend!
