Okay.....I'm flying from Boston to LAX in mid-May. Myself, dh, dd and her boyfriend. My three are tall, boyfriend is not.
Right now, VA has flights at times that are pretty perfect for me, and it comes to $400 pp, r/t! Do I wait for JB to open their booking window for mid-May, or do I just bite the bullet and book VA now?
I'm flying VA from LAX to MCO in Dec, but haven't flown with them before. From what I hear, they're a terrific airline.
So, give me your thoughts!!! Thanks guys.

Jetblue still gives you the greatest economy pitch of any US carrier and since you said 3 in the party are tall, I would wait until Jetblue releases their schedule. Not to mention Virgin being a smaller niche carrier, there is a greater chance of them canceling said market. Look at what happened with PHL. With five additional carriers on the route, usually the smaller airlines blink first. With that said, I would wait.

BTW Delta also has the same price with Alaska, American and United not far behind. Expect to see them match that $400. Multiple options.

Fingers crossed. Hopefully, JB will open that window soon.

I love V.A. madly. If DH could book them for work and we had miles with them I would stick with them exclusively for the routes they fly. Gorgeous cabins and fabulous entertainment system (vs JB when my TV wasn't working and there was nothing anyone could do so I sat watching DH's rated R movies or DS's G cartoons).

But with V.A., once you book, don't look once you're past the "cancel inside of 24 hours after booking" period. The likelihood of a discount bigger than the fee is low.

I seldom watch fares once I book. Not since JB changed their credit policy.
I've heard such good things about VAi may just go with them.

In one of the responses someone mentioned Alaska. They DO give you credit if a flight price drops, without a fee, and it's actually a webform to get that credit, so if you were to ever choose Alaska, definitely keep checking. Besides them and SW, though, forget it.

(and I couldn't remember if JB was still doing it or not) :)

Just in case it's ever relevant....

JB opens their next booking window in early Oct...the 4th I believe. I may just wait until I see what their fares are. I do have FF miles with them, and there is that bit of extra legroom. Fingers crossed fares don't go up a lot by then.
