MY 15 yo daughter is teaching herself Japanese. Her dream is to work at Japan Disney someday (maybe Alice in Wonderland? - she is a natural blonde). But for now is there any way to arrange a surprise special activity for her in EPCOT? Her favorite things right now are drawing and cooking. We already plan to eat at Teppanyaki, I am hoping for something more like a backstage tour type of thing.

I don't honestly know of anything. We can send this back up to the top though-- I'm suprised by some of the lesser known tours that some Diser's know about. Good luck.

Hi! My daughter turned 15 in May, and she just completed her first year of Japanese in high school. We are fortunate to have an excellent Japanese teacher and my daughter will have 4 years of the language before she graduates. She hopes to end up in Tokyo Disneyland, too. (She's an aspiring manga/anime artist.) Anyway, every time we go to WDW, we have to spend a lot of time in the Japan pavillion. Some special things to do are: 1. Have dinner at the teppanyaki restaruant like you said you are (make sure your daughter practices how to introduce herself in Japanese because the the manager will have a full conversation with her while you're waiting for a table), 2. Pick an oyster at the pearl bar in the store below the restaurant. (My daughter picked an oyster with a black pearl in it and we had it made into a necklace for her.) 3. Watch the 'candy lady' and talk to her. Ask a CM in the pavillion for the times she will be there. 4. Watch the kodo drummers. Very cool. 5. Walk through the garden at night. 6. Watch illuminations from the balcony of the restaurant. 7. If you're going during the Christmas season, listen to the storyteller. 8. Go shopping, of course!

Hope this gives you a few more ideas!

~We'll be there for Halloween 2004!~

Thanks for all the suggestions. From what I hear Disney Institute would have been great. Most everything in the Backstage Tours they have to be 16 and she will be 15 and 10/12ths (LOL) when we go. I guess we will have to just wing it when we get there. Thanks again

Make sure you find out what times the japanese lady who makes animals out of candy is there- she is hilarious and makes some really awesome creations! -Stephanie

Usually I just give up my japanese anime habit for the week and just stick with american anime. Once I go to the store in Japan at Epcot, I get all googly-eyed over the neat little Miyazaki things and the Cowboy Bebop stuff, but I always go back to the american stuff. When I get home, it's back to the big eyes and sharp, pointy hair.
