Just wanted to wish everyone a very happy 2012
Today is going to be my first "no buy" day. Food supplies are in and we have no real plans for today so it should be no problem.
Good luck to you all I hope we all reach our targets this month:)

Ok, I am in on this. I don't know if I will be able to post as you all do, but I am committed to not buying anything extra this month.

I do have one extra thing we do and told my husband that we should not buy it. We have a comedy show here at our local theatre. It costs anywhere from $25 a ticket to $75 a ticket. The money goes for cancer research.
A friend that runs it--his mom died of cancer when he was 14. My dad died of cancer when I was 15.

My DH looked at me and said--"No, we need to buy those tickets, it goes for a good cause."

So, my no buy January is actually--gonna buy one special thing January.

Happy New Year!:cheer2:

My goal is to go five days a week without spending and that means staying off Amazon! :rotfl2:

Jan.1-$0

Not sure how to set my goals since life has changed since I last did No-Buy. It's easy to get no buy days when you work from home. For January, I just want to cut back on buying lunch at the office, and I also want to see how much money I am wasting generally. :-) I'll go for 4 no buy days- one a week might be as much as I can manage.

Spent $
$900 budget... $900 left

ok,this is my 3rd try at posting,I'm chicken!:rolleyes1 Ok, instead of #'s I'm going to post goals.... I have to pay a new car note- so I am dead serious about not spending foolishly-
my goals are to keep the 'eatout' and 'grocery' budget separate, and to try and stay UNDER the budget for both. One way for me to do this is to make DH lunch for work,I've been lazy, and he has been just buying fast food daily. He doesn't spend more than 5.00, but he doesn't get as much food for that as he needs, and it is a WASTE! I will try to have it made for him at least 3 days per week. (he loves his Wendys)
Groceries are budgeted at 150.00 per week, and with a serious food allergy in our house...so far I've stayed at less than 100.00 for the 4 of us-(last week 87.00:woohoo:)
After hitting all the savers in our area in the past month, the only clothes we need are snowboots for one ds,and some more tubesocks at Walmart for the guys (they all wear the same size)
Oh,plus I will pay around 37.00 for a haircut later this month for myself. But I will try to get a cut only every 7 weeks to save some $$$
Other than that,I don't have plans to spend any extra!popcorn::

Oh, a few months ago I switched my landline # to a great service on a cellphone (PagePluscellular.com) it was simple, and instead of paying 35.00 per month for a basic landline plus cell service I now pay 29.95 per month for 1200 minutes and 3000 texts...which I never use up....no contract!! So far,we haven't missed our landline at all! and i got to keep my number, which I'm attached to;)

What does everyone do when they are at home and have the feeling that you just want to go to a store? You dont need anything but you just think you wanna get out. Its cold out so no going to a park for me lol I fought the earge the other day but sometimes you just need to window shop lol

for this I go to my local Goodwill,it allows me to browse thru all the packed aisles like a big tag sale...and if i do happen to find something lovely,it's never more than a few bucks...which satisfies that crazy shopping urge I get sometimes..... mostly I try to get creative, and MAKE something cute or crafty from stuff in the house, I google craft ideas sites, etc, recycled art stuff, and it gives me ideas...last week ds and I made suet birdfeeders from old onion bags, criscoe and birdseed, and have spent a lot of time birdwatching and noting our bird count! (cornell.edu)

I have been coupon clipping and trying to cut our costs. I need to save for our disney trip in august and dh was a patio for our backyard. We went to disney last summer and cut stuff/things we wanted to do out because of funds, I don't want to do that this time in august. :cheer2:
DH has even decided to sell some presents/gifts we had on ebay, to purchase items, so that we don't use our savings for wants and not needs. proud of him!

Okay, wow, day one and temptation is everywhere....

Was invited to my Aunts for a little holiday get together today. (She called late last night.) I usually bring a small gift but thinking of skipping the gift this year to maintain my $0 day. She is well off and really doesn't need a anything. And always tells me not to bring her a gift. But I'll feel guilty because she will have something for each of my kids. :confused3

I just checked the Passporter.com website to see when I can expect my new Passporter to arrive. (Pre-ordered it a few months ago) I was really tempted to buy their Disney Free Book... it looks like a fun read but, no, no... stay strong, today is going to be my first $0 day.

Uggg... this is hard. Maybe I try to talk my DH into buying the book for me with his Amazon gift card he got for Christmas.

I was all set to have today be my first of 10 "no spend" days. But, alas, as I was washing my oatmeal pan, I hit a knife on the dishrack and poked a hole in my ONE DAY OLD dishgloves.
:sad2:

So, I will need to go to the store to buy new dishgloves - 2 pairs of them - , and while I am there I will pick up a loaf of bread. I will track the amount I spend and what I spend it on though.

Oh well. At least it is inexpensive items I need. And I have 30 days left to make sure I don't spend!
:)

Jan 1 - $12.54 @ grocery store (2 pairs of dish gloves, bread, hamburger buns, hot dog buns)
$10.10 at grocery store (I can already see my downfall) buying items to make dinner tomorrow. I said I would go today instead of tomorrow so that tomorrow could be a no-buy day, but I honestly don't see how I saved money unless you count that I stuck to my list and didn't buy any extras.

I do hair pretties, I mostly sell them on Zulily. I just got my first sewing machine that is all mine! It does 4 X 4 embroidery but isn't one of the big embroidery machines.

I got my Disney custom stuff from red thread stitches. I have the minnie mouse shirt and the Its a Small World lillian dress. I will def check your stuff out when you have it all set up :)

OOOH cool! Can you tell me how to find you on Zulily? I have never bought from there. How is the selling on there? Is it similar to Etsy? I've actually only sold a few pieces of fabric on Etsy, and bought some supplies. I checked out red thread stitches. Wow, she has some great things!

So, what machine did you get? I have a Brother 270D that has the 4X4 embroidery field, but I never got the software to link it to my computer, so I never did anything on it but sew. It does sew like a dream, though! I will be getting the Brother PE770 which has the 5X7 field. DH said to just put the money I would have spent on that software into the new machine and go for it!

I'm in! Goals for month

eating out budget $150.00 (This will be hard for rest of family)
Entertainment $50.00
Son's 3rd B'day. $100.00 total. No party but family, probably spend day in Chattanooga.
No buy days =20. Should not be to hard for me as I hate to shop or even go in stores.

Count me in :) I need to save for my sons graduation party in June & our annual August DISNEY trip! I'm a HUGE couponer but we need to cut back on eating out. That will be my goal for this month! Today is a perfect day to start--January 1st is always considered "lazy day". We are homebound so no $$ will be spent :)

Happy New Year!!! ;) :cheer2:

Same here....my DD graduates in June - saving for that. We too are planning a Disney trip in August (God help me here, never been in August)..saving for that. We too need to cut back on eating out and I'm planning to try a few extra things in order to save a liitle more like rounding up at the grocery store and saving the difference. I figure every little penny counts.
