January 8, 2011 - 7 Night Western Caribbean Sailing

There is also a Brunch in Palo on the two days at sea and Tea on the two days at sea. We signed up for both. Brunch is my favorite in Palo, even more so then dinner. We have never done the tea, but I thought it would be fun to try!

To let those who are booking their resies on the 90 day mark there is also brunch on Key West day. Right now there are open ressies for 2 people on the following days:
Day 2 - 10, 10:30, 11 & 11:30
Day 3 - 10:30, 11 & 11:30
Day 6 - 10:30, 11 & 11:30

Tea has reservations for 2 on both Day 3 & Day 6, which is at 3:00.

Dinner has reservations open for every single night starting at 6:00 and listed at 30 minute intervals. The only times showing unavailable are:
Days 2 > 7 at 9:00

HTH someone.

Well, since I can't make any reservations for almost another 3 weeks, I guess we'll just have to take our chances on what, if anything, is still available by then.

Thanks for that great information. I'm staying up past midnight on the 9th to make our bookings. I decided this morning that I really, really need this cruise right now and can hardly wait.

Glad to help. :) If there is an excursion you are wondering about for time or availability LMK. I did see that all of the dolphin excursions were booked when I checked them out the other day. There were a couple others too.

I have a question for those of you that have done this route before. My MIL has offered to stay on the boat with the kids while we go ashore in Cozumel and we aren't sure what excursion we should do. Any recommendation? Also I'm a little worried with all of the crime lately in Mexico and would like to maybe stick to the island of Cozumel and not go to main land Mexico.

I wouldn't be too worried about it. There is crime just about anywhere you go, but applying some common sense will make you less of a target. Your greatest threat is from pickpockets and other theives, not from drug smugglers, so keep your personal items with you, don't go flashing a lot of cash, and be aware of what is going on around you - same as you would if you were visiting NYC or Washington, DC.

Most of the crime you're hearing about is along the US-Mexico borderm (of which I'm somewhat familiar due to my work). I did a quick search for Cozumel, Tulum and other places in the local area - all reports are that the crime rate is very low.

I'm thinking of also staying up past midnight on the 25th to do our reservations as well.

Is it best to call DCL or do the reservations on-line through the DCL website?

You cannot make any reservations by calling DCL. This can only be done online starting at midnight ET. Thank goodness it isn't 3 am anymore!!!

I also feel that if you stay in the main area or go on a tour with a group you will be fine. These countries depend on tourism to survive. We have been on two westerns, one regular and one that went to Costa Maya. In Cozumel you will see soldiers at the gates of the port with rifles and at various points. In Costa Maya we had to pass through gates on the bus to the ruins where many soldiers who were also armed who had to clear us to pass through them. We did the EB Panama Canal cruise and did excursions in both Cartagena and Aruba with the kids. Cartagena was my son's favorite port, besides the fact he was thrilled to be in a different continent. I think that if you follow the same basic common sense rules that we should all practice at home [IMO] you will be fine. I don't walk down an empty alley alone and I don't walk around flashing money on the street. There were many people on that cruise who would not get off the ship at either port because of drugs and crime reported.

Yeah I do suppose there is crime everywhere. I'm very aware of everyone around me at all time in fact I've even been accused of being paranoid :confused3 :rotfl: My past has caused me to have a "be wary" attitude at all times so I can't imagine I wouldn't keep that attitude in another country.
I guess we will just have to check out what we want to do and hope for the best. MIL has seen Mexico and gladly said she would stay on the ship with the kids

:hippie:YEAH!!!!! We just booked to go!!!! :cheer2::cloud9:

We are surprising our three kids and not telling them anything about it until we take off and even then we are not going to tell them about the cruise until we drive up to the ship!

I am so excited! :goodvibes

Hi! My husband and I are sailing for our 2 year wedding anniversary. We've never cruised before and I've never posted on a forum before either. :) We couldn't be more excited. We even have a countdown calender. Any tips for new cruisers?

This is the list of the people who will be participating in the Fish Extender (AKA FE). If you go to the FAQ section and scroll down to the FE part it will explain everything. :teacher:

This is my first Disney Cruise and my first post on DIS!

My sister and I are going on this cruise to celebrate our birthdays. We both love Disney so it was an easy choice for us for cruise lines even though neither of us has kids. The last cruise I went on was a high school band trip so I am really looking forward to this one in Jan!

We hope to get dinner reservations at Palo on my Sister's birthday but have to wait until the 25th for reservations. Anyone know if we will have any luck with reservations for 2 at Palo on the 12th (I think that is pirate night)?

Anyone else staying up til midnight to book their port adventures? I know I will! :hyper: :hyper:

Uh....YEAH!!!
:goodvibes

I expect I may have to take a day off work to do so as I usually get up at 4.30am and there is no way I'm going to get enough sleep that night if I have to be up to make reservations.

Our son is still planning to go to WDW with us for a few days but really does not want to cruise...unless someone his age is cruising..any 30 somethings yet?

Yes - My sister and I are both in our early 30's.

Sign us up for the FE group. We have 3 lil ones, DD9, DS6 and DS4 at time of Cruise. Room Cat 4 GTY.
Now to learn how to sew?!?:dance3:
