January 8, 2011 - 7 Night Western Caribbean Sailing

Hello, all! I
I haven't been on in awhile, things have been crazy here. Chris and I will not be joining you on this cruise after all. Planning this cruise or the timing just seems to not be in the cards for me right now. My older son will be moving at this time, and I am very happy for him. But its sooo hard when they move so far away that first time.
But I wish all of you the most Magical cruise. Maybe, later when things get a little less hectic I will get to go on my cruise:-)
I hope everyone has a lot of fun!
Susie

oh Susie we will miss you and Chris! Good Luck!

Wow this thread has really taken off since our last post! We have upgraded to a balcony but I wanna suprise DW with a bigger upgrade if a few extra jobs come in so our room may still change (dont tell her, and honey if you read this just fogedaboutit!) So I dont want to say what room we have now, in case it changes again...

I'm so glad that there will be so many Disers on board it will give the cruise a little more oomph~!

Welcome Chesha and family!

Susie -- sorry to see you go! :sad1:

Sandie -- oooooh, those Wicked Banksia Men!!! They always scared me! I first found the book about 30 years ago at the Bronx Botanical Garden in NYC. Have collected some of the other titles and bits and pieces about the gumnut babies ever since. So charming! My favorite character has always been Little Ragged Blossom. I think I identified with her as I'm adopted.

Lisa -- I updated my general list and alphabetized it:

If anyone needs to update their info, please let me know!

We're so excited about being on the Magic again!

We will drive down from SC and spend the night at Resort at the Port. Last year, I was the first in line for check in. I stood outside waiting for them to open the port. Not terribly exciting standing outside before the port opened but I was the first in line at the upgrade window. They had Cat 3s available...I may try for it again in January...or I could just upgrade now to the Cat 4.... I dunno..

Ordered supplies to make Mickey tie dyes this week. Originally bought everything for a big trip I have booked at HHI and to take my girlfriends to Food and Wine. Now I'll be making some for the cruise too!

Have I said I can't wait!

Mickey tie dye???

My daughter and I do tie dye at local fairs. We treat and tie the shirts and customers squirt the dyes onto them, we bag them up and send them home with washing instructions.

I am VERY curious to know how you do Mickey ones. Do you do 3 circles on the shirts or something else.

Thanks!

Do we need a name for our group? I've been looking at some other threads and they all have names. I'm feeling whiney.....

Is anyone Concierge or a Platinum Club member and been able to book dining/excursions as yet?

Any Gold Club members doing so on the 25th?

We're Silver Club, so we wait until the 10th of October. Just trying to get an idea of what may be going quickly.

Last time, we couldn't book Palo high tea reservations much at all -- but our group of 8 ladies from here managed to snag a reservation once on board and we had a lovely time.

There are instructions somewhere around here, I'll try to find them for you. They're very cute!

I'm silver, this is only 3rd Disney cruise, with 4th - Dream booked. It'll be a while.

My only absolute plans for this trip is a trip to Stingray City and I'm booking that on my own.

We are in the 25th!!! YAY! I am going to look into the Cabana for us....who all is interested in sharing it???

My last Mickey Tie Dyes...Can't wait!

Incredibly cute Mickey tie dye! It looks like it's done very much like the heart tie dye fold. I'm going to Google and see if I can find instructions for this.

I was soaking and pretreating 67 T shirts last night (we have 4 fairs coming up over the next 3 weekends and we were low in the kiddie sizes) so tie dye is first and foremost for the minute.

Lisa -- I'll talk with my husband tonight about the cabana as I know we're interested.

Thanks- I realized that my first picture the material is wavy and it almost looks like a heart. This is a better picture.

How much are the cabanas at CC? I've never looked into them.

I'm pretty much decided that I will head over to the port first thing and try to upgrade to a Cat 3. You never know...they were available on my last cruise..:wizard:

I found instructions online -- it says you pencil trace the Mickey silhouette on the shirt, then use dental floss around the outline, then pull to puff up. Dye the Mickey, wrap in plastic wrap and rubber band. Then, rubber band the rest of the shirt as if you were circle tie dying, dye between the banded bits, wrap and wash next day.

Is that what you did? We just might have to try this one tonight!

I can't remember off the top of my head but I think the cabanas were under $500. Are we talking about the ones on the adult beach or the family beach?

I used a washable marker and traced the inside of the shirt just because I'm paranoid. Stitched it, pulled the head up in a puff, rubber banded it off, dyed it separately, wrapped the head in plastic wrap and then dyed the rest of the shirt.

I use the Dharma dye so I have to follow their specific instructions for dyeing.

I was really happy with mine. I've had tons of comments when we wore them to WDW and on our last cruise.

Good luck!

$500 for the cabana...hmmm, I'd have to see what was included before I decided if it was worth it or not.
