January 8, 2005 Magic Cruise - Let's Get Ready to Cruise!

Good morning everyone!

I haven't posted here in a while because of the uncertainty I have going on. It is kind of a good news/bad news thing. LOL!

The good news is, I have been searching for a job for almost a year and I finally landed what is pretty much my dream job...which leads to the bad news...

I start the job on Monday, and I have no idea yet if they will be willing to let me off in January for the cruise! I will explain to them that this was booked WAY before I got the job, I will beg and plead, whatever it takes!

But in the meantime, I have been avoiding reading this thread because I don't want to get to "know" all of you, get all excited with you, and then not be able to go...sigh...

I will still check in from to time...you are all a great bunch.

Anyway, just saying hi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey There Fellow Cruisers! Hope everyone is doing well. I have been on the road alot lately. Actually I'm in Dallas again (I did wave when I passed Denton, Staci) and we are on the way to Tallequah, OK today. I will be traveling alot until December.

My DS and I went to WDW for about 5 days. It was HOT and VERY HUMID! but there were no crowds. We had a great time. Stitch's attraction was not opened yet but maybe by January.

This is the week we hit 2 digits! It's getting close. Take care and I talk at you later.

I've been traveling a bunch too Brack. Felt guilty that I haven't checked on the board in a while.
I cannot believe we finally hit double digits. It sure seemed like forever. I'm hoping to get a quick trip to WDW this month or next. Need to check on my grandfather and might as well go to the food and wine festival while I'm there. Right? Of course!
Believe it or not, I haven't booked the cruise yet. They finally opened the interline rates (for airline employees) through Dec. So, I'm hoping to see something pop up for Jan. anytime now. I keep checking the availability and it looks good so far. This of course is freaking out our friend that we are traveling with. She and her son booked a long time ago because they don't get the interline rates. It will be fine.

Hi eveyone! I'm sorry to say that we have decided to move our cruise date out until next October. Combination of money and weather in January issues. It was nice meeting you all and I'm sure you will have a great time. Blow some bubbles for us as you sail away !!!

The weather issue surprises me (I understand the money). January is great weather for a cruise. October on the other hand is in the middle of Hurricane season!

we are almost at the 90 day mark. As of Sunday we can book excursions thru disney if you are doing those.

Luckey sorry to hear you're not gonna cruise with us. Have fun when you do go, though.
This will sound funny but even though we have not actually "booked" the cruise yet. We bought plane tickets from DFW to MCO. Yes, I know I can fly free but we want to make sure we get there. We'll fly standby on the way home. If anyone is interested, we paid $89 per person, one way, non-stop on American from DFW-MCO on Thursday, Jan. 6th. Brack, I didn't know if you are flying out of OKC or DFW. But AA and Airtran have sales right now.
So, have we decided when everyone is going to get to MCO? Our plans right now are to arrive Thurs. night 8:22 pm. Go to WDW on Friday. So, we still have not decided where we are staying Fri. night (in Orlando or Cape Canaveral). But, I bet we stay in Orlando.
Anyone else?
We'll have to start thinking about a meet.

I have looked at both places. I can fly roundtrip from OKC on your favorite airline for about $150 if I take the internet fare. The problem as you know is that it is not a direct flight and can be a bit long to get to MCO. Delta has a nonstop fare from DFW for $225.00. We have to make up our minds soon.

I am very sure that we will leave on Friday as early as possible and return home on Monday (it's a holiday). Maybe we'll see you at WDW before the cruise.

We will be flying in Friday, staying at Port Canaveral that evening, then staying at WDW after the cruise for a few days.

For some reason our airfare was high this trip. Oh well, can't get the great rates every time.

We are flying in on Tuesday the 4th and staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort until Saturday AM when Happy Limo will pick us up at 9:30 and take us to Port Canaveral. I am getting soooooo excited!!!!! I actually made my priority seatings yesterday they are; 1/4 Rainforest Cafe (downtown Disney), 1/5 Chef Mickeys, 1/6 Rose and Crown Pub in Epcot and 1/7 The Brown Derby in MGM. We cannot believe we are almost 90 days out, now it is coming too fast. My DS is really talking about it now (it is a gift from Santa) and all he keeps saying is "I hope Santa brings us our trip". We all watched the Travel Channel show on DCL last night at 5:00. I've seen it so many times I could act in it!!!!!!! I was really getting nervous. I took the summer off to be with my DS and when I contacted my old office the national company had taken over and I was out of a job. My husband kept saying don't worry but I am a worry wart so I did worry. But I got a new job starting 10/20 in a doctors office and they were great about me taking off nine days in January!!!!! I think it will be a good place to work. Talk to you all soon.

I'm glad to hear all is working out for you in the job situation. You may want to take a look at the current thread about Happy Limo. Sounds like you guys are going to have a fun week before the cruise.

Brack, American Airlines and Air Tran both have cheap fares right now from DFW to MCO. The dates I looked at are leaving DFW on the 6th and returning on the 15th. Take a look!

Lisa, sorry to hear you didn't get such great airfare rates. Hopefully next tiime!

DCL still has not opened up interline rates for Jan. but they should be any day. I've talked to a few interline travel agents and they said probably by the beginning of Nov. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Thanks for the post, I am getting so neurotic about this trip!!!!! I am concerned about Happy Limo and if I get two seconds this weekend I am going to check out Tiffany Towncar. I had a friend who used them and she said they were great. Even when I spoke to Happy Limo they seemed a little odd, it should have been my cue to look elsewhere. That said I am getting very excited and looking forward to meeting everyone. Last year here in New England the two weeks (almost) that we will be gone were the coldest. They actually cancelled all schools because it was way too cold and they are saying that we are going to have a wetter and colder winter this year so I hope everyone will be okay in our absence. See, I told you I was a neurotic. I worry about everyone!!!!! Hee, hee, hee. Oh well have a great weekend everyone.
