January 4, 2003!!!!

Hello Fawn! Welcome back! Sorry about your tailbone and the thousands of responsibilities--but what wonderful moments you've had in between! And what wonderful moments are upcoming!

Re. meeting for our cruise--there's a group meeting by the pool Friday night at the Radisson. Then the whole gang, including the rest of us late-arrivers and non-Radissoners, will meet AFTER the safety drill at the Promenade Lounge on Saturday the 4th, First Day!!!

Oh, and Michelle--so glad to hear you're bringing a clothes steamer! Does that thing really work?!?

FAWN - I hope you are healing from your fall. I know how painful it is. I broke my tailbone (coccyx) a few years ago, fell down the stairs, too. Never again did I walk down the stairs in stocking feet! The pain is indescribable, and I've given birth four times. Wishing you a "magical" wedding with your family and friends. Hope to see you onboard.

Nothing fits my daughter either. Don't know yet what I am going to do.

EVERYONE - Hope everyone's Christmas was wonderful and safe. We had snow!:Pinkbounc

Um, I honestly don't know for sure if the steamer works. Well, it turns on and all (or so I've been assured), but whether it will really replace ironing remains to be seen. If it doesn't, we can just run down to our old faithful friend, the laundry room!

My girls have clothes but no shoes! Anyone know where to buy sandles in the winter? Their feet must have grown 2 sizes from the summer! We cleaned out their closet today and found some dresses I bought at Dillards on clearance a couple of months ago that I had totally forgot about. Tomorrow onto the short drawers....whoopee :bounce:

Krissy is game for a partner or two in the talent show. We are packing her brownie vest. She is probably going to sing the smile song again. It is short and easy to remember even when she is nervous.

Has anyone decided on excursions? We are thinking of doing a "jungle tour" thing in Key West. I found the website on another board and it looks pretty neat. Cozumel we are playing mini golf. We are still up in the air about Grand Cayman.

Fawn, it's great to see you back!!
Any time I think that I have too much going, I'll just think about your post and it will put things back into perspective! We can't wait to meet the newlyweds :D :D :D
Hard to believe your wedding and the cruise are nearly here already. Tony is off picking up the docs. for our Feb. cruise from Fed Ex today too, so we'd better bring the rights ones.

Gulp, tomorrow night we are heading up to the Marriott at Dulles before our EARLY morning flight on Saturday! I can't believe that we are going to be in Florida so SOON! We just got back (like an hour ago) from visiting parents for Christmas and now we have to unpack, wash (well there isn't much to wash since my mom so kindly included our laundry with hers yesterday!

I really can't WAIT to get there, but getting there is the hard part. Got some Disney dollars for christmas and have $50 in 1's (ack!) I tried to exchange them for $10 bills today but my local Disney store wouldn't do so without receipt (oy) so we are stuck with a large pile. Oh well, there are worse problems in the world.

Fawn, glad to hear everything's ok and that your extended family is doing so well and especially glad that Freddie was able to make it home for your big event, sounds like it was about time that something went according to plan!

I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait! I will be happy just to be in Florida and I've decided to not let anything stress me out ANYMORE!

Lisa

PS: MJ, I sent you a PM. Wow, that sure looks like I'm speaking in code!

KAJUNSWTY - I found sandals the other day for my daughter at Target. Still no luck with water shoes, though. I'm hoping to find an inexpensive pair in Key West. Everything I bought her this summer is too small now! This from the child who was so tiny she got two years out of just about everything. My daughter loves to sing and dance. She isn't a brownie, but was in a cherub choir and takes dance. Do you think your daughter would mind teaching a 5 yr old her song?

My son told me last night that he and his wife will probably settle in Florida when he gets out of the Marines. I'm in NJ. Oh no! Among the many selling points he made for me making the move to FL with them was...;) "it will be a shorter trip to the Disney Magic Cruise":sunny:. He does know his mom;) !

 See ya'll soon!!!!

sandygirl....not to mention the Florida Resident rates on the cruise. They can be quite substantial when they are offered!!!!

Dear Experts:

Rebekah here, wrangling over the wine package deal. Has anyone purchased that before? Seems that if you want wine every night and can expect to pay $30-35/bottle, then getting 7 bottles for $145 is a good deal. BUT.... what if you don't drink it all? Do you forfeit the extra bottle(s)? OR, could we buy a bottle the first night to see how much we're drinking, and upgrade to the package and be credited for what we already bought??

Thanks for your advice...

By the way, LISA--wanted to say, wasn't our white Christmas absolutely gorgeous and magical!?!? WOW!!!! Beautiful and perfect in every way--snowing enough to be completely white on Christmas, but also just enough to melt off the next day so driving is easy. :) Hope you have a great trip down to FL today. We'll see you at the Promenade Lounge a week from tomorrow!

It was so nice to log on again and see everyone. I sure have missed this place!!

Dave, I will be sure to give Shirley that hug. I am SO excited about meeting her finally! Jody, thanks for your good wishes! I promise a trip report...PG, of course! MJ, the secret is I adore the hustle and bustle of all the kids...they are my joy! Sue, not sure yet about final plans, but meeting in the lobby should work.

Sandy, hit some of the clearance sales online at Penney's and Kohls. I'm finding some clothes and suits for the girls. I can't imagine breaking my tailbone...this bruise alone is so painful! Lisa, we are so blessed that Freddie is home. You have a safe trip down...can't believe you get to go now!

Barb, we can't wait to meet you guys also! Ya know, in certain circles, you're famous! ;) I can't believe it's almost here...but here it is!

DC, thanks for the info on the meets. I am going to ask Shirley to buy a cake for after the wedding Friday night, and I'll just have her make sure it's a big one! A couple of bottles of champagne, and we have a get-together/wedding reception! LOL I'm loving this!

Sounds as if we have grown considerable since I was last around. It'll be fun to put so many faces to the names. Not that I will remember a single name, mind you, but you all know what I'm talking about!

Well, I'm off. I promised the kids a movie for all their help this Holiday. It's my grandson's first movie!!! How I'm going to sit in a theater for 2 hours on this tailbone I don't know, but it should be interesting!

I'll be back...I promise!!!

I hope everything went well at her dr. appt today. I was thinking of her this morning. Maybe we will hear from Laura later today???

Rebekah

Don't worry about the unfinished bottles of wine. The waiters will cork it for you and keep it until the next night. No waste!!!!

Help, we're not done packing yet! Who wants to help us pack??? We just spent $100 at CVS restocking our "drug" kit (the legal kind, don't worry!) since it had run out of just about everything (I tend to get sick on vacation!). We also bought things like Wisk washing machine tablets (I hope they work okay) since we are going to be away for over 2 weeks and we don't have that many clothes and Purell and other assorted junk we needed but eep! Kind of crazy. I know what you mean about spending your excursion money at the drugstore, but have Immodium, will travel!

Rebekah, we spent christmas in NY! Luckily the city/coastal part of NY which means only about 3 inches of snow and roads were clear for the drive back down to MD yesterday. By the time we got here there wasn't a trace of snow here! I was beginning to wonder if you got any at all. I guess that answers that question!

See you all in a week! (assuming I don't miss my flight at this point... okay, I still have 12.5 hours til we have to leave the hotel to check in for the flight. PLENTY of time!)

Lisa

HAVE A GREAT CRUISE (don't get too tan!) and say "Hi & Happy New Year" to all on the ship (especially John, DJLA- I don't know who else is still on the ship from last summer (Sean, Ellen, Ian?)

Please don't forget to send out a trip report and take lots of pictures!

Hi Everyone,

I just booked our snorkeling tour through Capt. Marvins. We decided to do the 10-1p tour. Booking directly thru them rather than DCL saved us a few dollars, and it also takes you to two snorkeling spots and stingray city. I'm pretty excited. I only hope it will be warm. The water temp is supposed to be in the 80's(according to the internet) I hope that is true. We usually cruise in Sept. which is really hot and humid so I'm not sure what to expect this time of year. We leave next thursday! We spent today buying sunscreen and all those esentials. Being in Arizona, is wasn't difficult to find flip flops or water shoes! Actually, it did freeze last night. It's the first time this year! Well, better go start packing. Has anyone used one of those clothes steamers? I'm thinking of purchasing one instead of sending our stuff out to be pressed on ship. Don't know how they work though.

See you all VERY soon!
Lynda

Dani's tests (except for one, which is still pending) all came back with no leukemia present!!!!! They are confident that the final one will be ok as well - the results won't be back for a week. But the good news is that WE HAVE BEEN CLEARED to leave for vacation!!!!!

I cannot tell you how much your support has meant to me. I only found this site a few weeks ago, but your kind words have comforted so much. I don't feel like we are strangers even tho we haven't met yet and I can't wait to see you all in person!

We are leaving Monday to drive to my brother's in Georgia. We will leave for Port Canaveral Sat morning and we will all (DH, DS and of course Dani) our white Make-A-Wish t-shirts with blue lettering for departure.

Happy New Year everyone and thanks again for your thoughts and wishes. They are appreciated more than you can ever know.

Laura and family

Laura,

I am so happy that you are cleared for sailing. My family has been praying for positive results for Dani, they will be so thrilled to hear that we will see you next week.
