I just wanted to hopefully provide some info to a board that helped us out so much in the last few months.
We traveled on the Jan 3 and stayed at the Hyatt MCO and took the Disney transfers. There are 7 of us me, wife, son 9, son 8, daughter 7, daughter 7, and son 3.
Travel: If you can go on the day before do it. Do not book through Disney the Hyatt offers some good deals on line, we got our room for $89. When we registered at the Hotel we told them that we were on the MAgic and they put us on the list for baggage pickup. Disney will tell you that only people who booked the Hotel through disney will get that service. If you just ask at the Hyatt they will put you on the list. So you never touch your bags until they are in your Stateroom.
Embarkation: We have cruised Carnival, Royal Carribean and Disney. Disney is the smoothest and easiest by far. Even with 5 Kids. They have this down to an art.
Staterooms: We booked 2 Cat 6's and they were about the same size as the Staterooms we had on the Explorer of the Seas. Although I did enjoy the Split bathrooms. They were comfortable and nice. My wife said that the carpet was a bit worn but I did not notice.
Ship: The Magic is a beutiful ship. I actually preffered thsi ship to the Explorer. It is perfect. Classy. Clean, CLEAN, CLEAN. Did i mention that the ship was very clean. It is also a kid ship. You can say all you want about how it is also a ship for adults(and it is) but this cruise is about family and we loved that. I never felt like my kids were in any danger, or going to be exposed to something mature, or get lost, or be out of place.
Dining: Palos is better than any food I have ever had. The rest of the food is good. Not the best but very good. Animators Palate was the weakest in my opinion.
Entertainment: Awesome
Kids Programs: You kids will have more than they need or be able to do.
Overall: DCL is the best cruise experience that we have ever had. I would say that it is the best family vacation available. It is a bit pricey so it is an idividual decision as to if it is worth the money. I think that it is.
Will we go again? Probably not. We are one of those families that does something different every year. If you have not gone you should.
