January 29, 2011 - 7 Day Eastern - WOOHOO!!

:lmao:

Great ideas!!! I was at Michael's yesterday and I was going to get everyone lais....lol!!! Well adults I mean!!! I was thinking of getting bigger boys Red and White Canada baseballs...but I dont want them to through them at me....

BTW do we put who it is from?????? Have still not read/found a thread/post on EXACTLY what you do.....

From what I read, I think most people put their name and their DIS name on it (at least the adult gift, probably not on a bunch of little things you might just stick in the pockets for the kids).

Last cruise I didnt put who it was from but this time I think I will, some had put it some didnt last time but I kinda liked knowing who sent what when we received our little gifts, it just seemed a little more personable.:thumbsup2

Ok so you just go put the stuff in the fe whenever you want? So that there is little surprises when people come back to their cabins?

Thanks Averysmom!!!! Really it gets busy?? I have only been on 2 other cruises both this year and we basically walked up went straight to the counter (maybe a person in front of us in the line?????). We got there I would say between 1pm & 2pm...we drove from Airport first time, Disney 2nd time...this time we will be just around there somewhere!!! So what is getting early for Group 1? DH will want to be there to start his cruise ASAP!!!

We are going to plan on being at the Dock around 10/1030am - and hopefully on the ship by 1pm

my kids are 8 and 11 so they are good at waiting. We didnt find the wait too long last time....little things to do to keep you busy. Plus us DIS people will all find each other

Does anyone have a recent description on how we do it that they can re-post?

I did it a few years ago but I must admit I could use a refresher on it.

I know last time (2006), I brought things that were heavy and it was a problem as some of the Extenders didnt liket he weight so keep that in mind

I was worried about our items being too heavy, so I am going to attach a ribbon to them in case I need to hang them on the fish instead of put them in the pockets...

Yes, the gifts can be placed in the FE whenever you want. DW & I participated in a FE last November, and we would just be walking around the ship with a handful of gifts to distribute. It was a nice suprise to come back to as well when we would come back to the room and see that we'd been gifted.

Ok cool...that is what I kinda was gonna do...have to know before hand though cuz will need to make sure the girls and boys and ages get the right thing......imagine a 14 yr old boy getting a princess lanyard....my 19 & 21 yr olds would wear them as they are go with the flow and would not bother.....:rolleyes1

If you go to post #26 on page 2 of this thread schmij has not only the updated list, but also a link to an FE exchange. When I asked about it earlier, my understanding is that you do one homemade (or purchased) thing for the cabin (adults) and some little things like trick-or-treat gifts for the kids. On the main board, there is a thread with hundreds of pics of items people have done for FE gifts!!

I made an excel spreadsheet with the info of everyone who has signed up. It makes it easy for me to see how many girls, how many boys, and how many adults and number of cabins. If anyone wants a copy, let me know.

Right now we're at 14 rooms.
15 Adult Females 12 Adult Males
13 female children
7 male children

I got the shipping notice that the supplies for my adult FE gift are on their way. :dance3:

I see lots of ideas on how to make a FE but I thought there was an actual process for how you give stuff away.

Now that I think about it - I realize that when I did this before we called it DIS TAG.
If I remember how it worked - we created a list of families and each family got a number - so for simplicity lets say they were numbered 1- 10.

On the first day - everyone would at some point, give a gift to the next family on the list (so #1 would give a gift to #2, #2 would give a gift to #3, #10 to #1, etc). Like a game of tag.

Once you receive a gift from someone then you would give a gift to the next family on your list. So if I am Family #4 - I would have given my first gift to #5 so when I get a gift, I would then give something to Family #6.
The next day - I might receive another gift - so then I would give a gift to Family#7. The next time I get a gift, then I give a gift to Family#8

so one and so on. IF we have 20 families on the list, you wind up receiving and then giving about 3 gifts a day so there are always little treats at your door. But by making it a Tag, means that it spread out over the week.

Is that what everyone is talking about doing OR am I out to lunch and we are just randomly giving gifts to the people when we feel like it over the week.

I was just going to deliver all of mine on a day that worked with my schedule. :confused3 I will probably split the kids stuff up and do that twice during the cruise, but I really didn't plan on having to deliver stuff every day - although I suppose that would work if it was just to some of the people on my list. Some of my items are specifically for Pirate night, so I would want them all delivered prior to that....It just seems a little complicated!!

I have been making multiple trips to Michaels to get my stuff. Partly due to not exactly sure on how it will work on still doing mock-ups and partly because I have 40% off coupons on one item and can only use 1 coupon per day and I have about 10 coupons that all expire this week!!

It is a bit complicated but I know my kids loved doing it. They woudl jump up and say "we have been tagged, lets go and give a gift".

I am OK doing it either way (as Dis Tag or just Random) but I think we need to ensure we are all doing it the same way (LOL).

Maybe we can take a Vote/Poll

It was definately a lot of fun - one thing to consider is that we dont want too many people on the list - if it gets over 30 then its a lot of gifts
