January 29, 2011 - 7 Day Eastern - WOOHOO!!

Yep sometimes it is cold at that time. On your very first one we could not sit on the beach long the wind was too cold. It was funny to see people bundled up sitting on chairs freezing. But by darn we were on an island in the Caribean we were sitting out. :rotfl2: The other 3 times it was really nice no problems. My son doesn't like swimming in the water because of the salt. But they love playing on the beach.

You can cruise anytime of the year and have weather problems - too hot, too cold, storms, wind - you just have to sit back and enjoy whatever the weather gives us. There is lots to do insite on a DIsney Cruise as well

Relax and understand that you cant do everything.

Must Do's:
- Pirate Party on Deck
- Fun Games on the Deck at the Family Pool
- Big Bingo game on the Friday night
- Doesnt matter how old you are - hug a character!!

Good to know!!! Feel in panic mode myself!

Good to know!!! Feel in panic mode myself!

I got into such a panic last time after being on the boards too much...I got so over organized and felt I had to do everything just right......I didnt finally relax until about day 3 or 4.

I almost didnt come on the boards this time but I decided the info was too valuable.....but this time, we are just going to go with the flow a bit more!

What does he do at RBC, I work at CIBC.

Thanks for the tips. I do plan to relax but have found on past Disney vacations that the rest happens when you return back home :)

NAB...do you remember what the beach is called?

I do not know the name of the beach...It is the shoreline just as you get off the water taxi. It is on either side of the dock. The ship docks on the other side of town so that is why you need the water taxi , it is much faster to get to the main part of town.

This is the picture of the dock on the right and the Magic in the background...the taxi just brings you over a short ways. Almost like a tender.

This the walk way you can go down along the beach the stores on on the left up ahead.

This is a picture of my dd playing with Flat Mable. She had to take pictures with her for school and keep a journal, a verison of Flat Stanley.

Awesome!!!! thanks!!! Sorry I didnt realize you had to take anything into shore from the ship. Ok so the taxi that takes you to shore drops you at the beach and then there is shopping in that area too???? :cool1: Now did you say you had to pay for the taxi? Reason I am asking is because if Disney does not dock right at a dock would they not be responsible for getting you in...:confused3 Dont mean to be ignorant on this subject, but have never been on a cruise where we didnt dock right at land..:rolleyes1

At St Maartin you do dock at land but it is across town so when you get off there is a water taxi stand ....to take you to the heart of the town. I believe they also have little shopping stands set up off this dock where the ship is.

You can choose to take a regular cab to the center of town but I think it is cheaper and faster to to take the water taxi across. It was $5-6 dollars per person I think or was that family I can't remember. But they give you a wrist band and you can go across as much as you want. Meaning you can go back to the boat for lunch and go back out again if you wish.

As soon as you get off the water taxi dock and go straight you are in the shopping district of Phillipsburg. If you go right or left you have beach where you can rent chairs , umbrella etc. Even have bars set up along there.

Disney is like any other cruise line if they do not dock at a dock they tender you in at no cost. That one always scares me because you are literally going into a little boat from the big one. And I am the only one in the family that does not swimming so I have a fear of falling into the water. But never have thank goodness.

Here is the info on Great Bay beach - the one near shopping that you take a water taxi to. http://www.sint-maarten.net/St-Maarten-Beaches/GreatBay.html

The other beach that might be of interest to those with little kids is this one at Le Galion. http://www.sint-maarten.net/St-Maarten-Beaches/LeGalion.html

I am guessing the one that you looked up and is called "The House Beach " is the one I have been talking about. The one picture is almost like mine.

The second one, menitons Orient Beach! For those who do not know this is the nude one! :lmao: I know it says it is in the next bay but just thought I would mention it. Maybe that is your thing who knows. It is definitely not for kids.

Just wondering where everyone is staying the night before the cruise??

We are staying at my parents place about 2 hours away.....we will get up early and drive over. Not as much fun as stayign at the hotel but I need to keep the parents happy (they want to know why I am not just stayign with them for a week!)
