January 29, 2011 - 7 Day Eastern - WOOHOO!!

Welcome! And YAY! another toddler! My daughter will be 2 on this cruise and I was starting to get worried that she wouldn't have other kids her age to play with (probably a silly worry, I admit).

That is great that there is another 2 year old as well! I too had that same worry!

So have you been on this cruise before?

Is anyone concerned about the weather for Castaway Cay? I was reading threads for the Bahama's in Jan/Feb & everyone was saying that Castaway Cay was pretty cold for swimming. I know it will still be nicer than Michigan! ;) One person said that they wouldn't do the Bahama cruise that time of year but would do the Caribbean one.

I was at Castaway Cay about this same time on our last cruise and at Key West in Jan two years ago. It isn't hot, but kids don't seem to mind the water!! I get cold easily and wore a long-sleeved cover-up and wrapped a towel on my legs. It was still very nice - in the low-mid 70s, but breezy. My kids will get in the water with chattering teeth and turn blue and not seem to care, so they will have fun!!!:yay: if your kids swim in the lakes in Michigan they will be fine - it's all realtive!!! It can also be pretty cool at Cape Canaveral in Jan (or pretty warm - you reallly never know). My in-laws live in Orlando, and we have been there in Dec/Jan/Feb and worn shorts sometimes and worn heavy jackets other times. The coast is a little more mild. I would definately plan on a light jacket or long-sleeved t-shirt in case it isn't warm.

My DS (8) is going to enjoy meeting yours! My husband and in-laws who we are travelling with are also from Michigan originally - although no one lives there now!

Yep sometimes it is cold at that time. On your very first one we could not sit on the beach long the wind was too cold. It was funny to see people bundled up sitting on chairs freezing. But by darn we were on an island in the Caribean we were sitting out. :rotfl2: The other 3 times it was really nice no problems. My son doesn't like swimming in the water because of the salt. But they love playing on the beach.

Thank you so much for your help, I feel better now! I planned on taking hoodies anyway, I get cold easy too. Will was happy to hear about another boy he can hang out with.

LMAO That would be me, I"m on an island, I will be there freezing my butt off! Too funny! Hopefully one of the ports my son can swim in the ocean. Thanks!

Myself and my DH just booked this week this being our first cruise. We are going to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary. None of our friends can understand why we would book a Disney Cruise with no kids (Leaving them home) but having several past trips to the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, etc., no one does anything better than Disney. Counting the days!!!!

So many people have asked me that too.........:rotfl2: My kids arent bothered by it!

St Martaan has a nice beach just where the water taxi drops you off. It cost $5 per person to Phillipsburg from where the boat docks. It is where all the shopping is too. You can rent a chair or just sit on the beach like we did , didn't cost a thing. It was nice.

Probably do that again this time, we honeymooned on this island so we saw it all including the nude beach where my huband lost his wedding in the water there :scared1: And before you ask we were in bathing suits. This where one of the bus tours dropped us off.

Hannah also got her hair braided on this island too. Think it cost $2. a braid so by the time she was done it was 20 braids and $40. later. We loved it though.

The best of both worlds....beach and shopping.....

Thank you all for the welcome. It looks like we have a really fun and friendly group. :goodvibes Does anyone have any suggestions for "Must Do's" for first time Disney Cruisers? There seems to be so much to choose from I really don't know where to start :confused3

Relax and understand that you cant do everything.

Must Do's:
- Pirate Party on Deck
- Fun Games on the Deck at the Family Pool
- Big Bingo game on the Friday night
- Doesnt matter how old you are - hug a character!!
