January 28, 2007, 4 nights on the WONDER

not sure about getting around to door signs, i'll have to mention it to kids - if i tell dh he will just look at me like this:sad2: he already thinks im nuts.

I'm a DH who often thinks:sad2: when my wife tells me something. But I'm excited for:beach: in two weeks!

Thanks for all your posts! I thinks that we are going to have a great time.

:wave2:

Hi all,

Just thought I'd remind everyone (like you'd forget!!) that we are less than two weeks away now! :yay:

Hi all,

Just thought I'd remind everyone (like you'd forget!!) that we are less than two weeks away now! :yay:

Yep! In two weeks from today we will be in Nassau and we'll be enjoying some warm weather (it has been like 6 degrees :scared: here for the past few hours).

Yep! In two weeks from today we will be in Nassau and we'll be enjoying some warm weather (it has been like 6 degrees :scared: here for the past few hours).

It's been pretty frigid here in Denver, too. The long range forecast for Orlando is still showing a cooldown for the time we are there, but at least it won't be below zero on either the Fahrenheit or Celsius scale!

Here in sunny South Florida...I mean North Carolina it's t-shirt weather. I've been in a t-shirt since before Christmas. On occasion the wind got chilly enough for a sweat shirt, but it has been depressingly warm here. I am a polar bear and I like the cold. I have been known to bar-b-que in an ice storm :rolleyes1 ( a N.C. ice storm, not like what's going on in the mid west).
I so hate that I am not going with you all, but I do enjoy sharing in the excitement. Thank you for allowing me to crash at your site and share in your experiences. :goodvibes
My friend Serena is going to visit here wednesday (I hope). She will most likely be posting from my acct. but I hope I can get her set up under her own screen name. I've told her about this group and I'm going to surprise her with the arm bands.
I hope a few of you plan to write trip reports. I look forward to reading them.
The countdown begins!!

I wasn't sure what was meant by "receiving your documents" but we got ours today. It is a booklet filled with tickets, forms, etc.

Here's my question: Since I filled out the medical form and the payment authorization form online, do they make you fill it out AGAIN in the booklet? I'm going to leave it blank for now since I did it online. But I will fill out the Bahamas customs form.

Today it was 80 degrees here in FL and we ate lunch on the back patio. I'm thinking of all you guys in the snow, and I'm glad you get to come thaw out for a while!

Florida Beach Mom - How exciting you received your docs today! I thought no one would have gotten mail since it was MLK day (I'm running out to the mailbox now!)...

I've started packing... we leave in 10 days (I said to my kids this evening... Wow, that's only two hands full!:cheer2: ). Disney Veterans, for a 7 day stay in FL, does 3 pair of shorts and a pair of pants sound like enough for each of us? There are four of us and I don't want to bring 7 outfits each - hoping to do laundry once, at least. I figure some days we'll just have our suits on anyway (hoping for great weather)...

I have to tell you all, the last four times we've gone on vacation, it has rained. And, I don't mean sissy rain, I'm talking buckets and for days... let's not call it a vacation yet, I'm just "taking a break from Pennsylvania"! :beach:

Hey Lweigard, I'm in PA too! It hasn't been bad this year, but I'm with you, ready for FL and the Wonder!

We've had rainy vacations down there, but it doesn't stop us - we just get soaked and have a blast anyway.

I usually bring four bottoms - two pair of jeans and 2 pair of "other" pants. I'm not a shorts person. But that's usually sufficient if we do laundry once during the time we're there. And I always figure if I need something more, that's a good excuse for a "souvenier"!

See ya in Paradise!

Blessings - Lin

We got our docs via UPS, who I guess delivered on MLK day!

I would think three shorts are OK, but you'll definitely be doing laundry. Maybe 4 shirts, or just 3 if you are all planning to buy one there. One pair of pants should be OK but bring them to the parks every day.

Winter is usually a time of less rain around here, but I know that they are expecting showers next weekend. When we went to WDW in December, we got caught in a huge downpour once but the rest of the time it was mild and we just wore our layers accordingly. Bring a good sweatshirt, I think it's more convenient to bring those than jackets, personally.

We had rain about a week ago and nothing since. I hope it stays nice for everyone's pre-cruise trip!

Come to think of it, 2 pants and 2 shorts might be OK, if you have some lightweight pants. I remember wearing my capris a lot.

Thanks for all the packing tips! Glad to hear that I'll be okay with what I've pulled together so far! It's going to fill the suit cases pretty tightly! I mentioned to DH last evening that we should check our duffle bag (packed lightly) so that we can use it to pack our souveniers.

Hoping for docs today! We get mail around 2pm EST today:dancer:

Hi to everyone! We will be on the cruise on the 28th. It is DH, DD (10) and DD (6) and myself. We are going to WDW first. One night at the POR and three nights at the Poly!!

We are all so excited we can't wait.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed so many great ideas for this trip.

One question about WDW. I've heard they are having fireworks on the nights they have the Pirates & Princess Party at MK. Does anyone know what time the fireworks will be?

Yea, we got our docs! UPS just dropped them off. Now it feels official - can't wait to get out of here. We leave on Saturday for the drive down to the World, arrive on Sunday for a week at Saratoga Springs.

We'll be on the look out for lime green ;)

Shauna, what is the final plan for distributing the wristbands? At the terminal? At a DIS meet? (when, where?)

See you all SOON! :dance3: :yay: :cool1: :beach:

Blessings - Lin

We got our documents today! It is really seeming real now! Also decided at the last minute to do the Pirate and Pricess Party on Feb 1! That part will be a surprise for DD's!
To lweigard--it always rains on us on vacation too! Hoping we don't bring our bad luck down on anyone. It has become a joke that we always get soaked.
We've had several days of ice here, so rain won't be so bad. My kids have not been in school since last Thurs. and knowing they are going to miss another whole week has them really pumped. I was thankful to go to work the last couple of days, as the kids are really stir crazy!

I received our Docs today, too! :woohoo: :woohoo: It does seem real! All in the same day, we received the final three passports, the Disney docs, and the Disney Cruise line video (didn't think that would come until we had already left). It was great to watch the overview of the cruise - I got teary only a few minutes into it... just thinking about the excitement on my kids faces gets me all revvvvved up!

Hoping for great weather, and if not, we'll still have a blast! It was colder up here today... only 9 days til we leave and 12 days til the Cruise! This time in two weeks we'll all be in the Bahamas! :yay:

KS Prarie Gal - We got tix to the P&P party on Jan 26th... it sounds incredible! I don't know when the fireworks are, though. I'd like to know if they kick everyone out then have the ticket holders reenter at 7:30?

Hi All -

just curious as to whether any of you have shore excursions planned for nassau, or whether you have decided to hang on the boat. Last year we did the stingray feeding and the kids loved it - 11 year old was a bit cautious - and when we tease her about it she says "See what happened to the crocidile hunter?" It was a good time though.

this year we are trying the dolphin encounter. the kids are water and animal lovers, so I am hoping this will be great for them. I have heard the dolphin swim is better, but I know that it is more costly and not offered through disney excursions - also I am a bit hesitant with the ages of my youngest to try that just yet(5,7). we will have to see how the petting and kissing of dolphins go first :rotfl:

what about cc, any plans - I know stampinshauna has said about jet skiing tour - that would be great - but with our family, the ski's only hold two and there are 5 of us :sad2: Last year we hung out on the beach, snorkled, found hermit crabs, had drinks delivered to our beach chairs and had a great time. So that is what we are leaning towards.

talk to you all soon - btw, we did not get our docs yet:mad:

Our travel agent received our docs today, but she said it looks like not all the required paperwork was included. By the time she got them, the DCL department she needed to talk to was gone for the day. Hopefully she can get everything straightened out tomorrow!

As for excursions, right now we're signed up for the Nassau historic tour. I have a feeling it might be disappointing but we figured since this is our first time there, we should get a sense for the history of the place.

We were planning to try snorkeling at CC (temperatures permitting) and just enjoy the beach. It still looks like the temps during our time in Orlando and on the cruise will be lower than they are now, but heck, the lowest low there will beat anything we can order here in Denver right now!

Our travel agent called today and we picked up our docs this afternoon!

We will be doing the dolphin swim by Dolphin Encounters. We will also be doing the Stingrays at Castaway Cay.

If anyone has a pre-teen girl, we started their own board (1/27/07 Wonder T'weens). It looks like the girls are already getting to know each other. Binks, I see you have a 10 yr old DD and she's more then welcomed to join. I already told my DD that there might be another girl joining. Anyone else?

To KS Prarie gal Both me and my son will be going to Pirate and Princess Party on Feb 1. pirate:

We also got are Doc's today. Will be leaving for Disneyworld in three days.:hourglass
Does anyone else have reservations for Palos Brunch?:grouphug:

Hey classicdisney! Glad to hear you are joining the P&P party on Feb. 1. I am real excited about that. Hope the girls are as excited as their Mom!

We are planning to just hang out on the ship on Nassau day. It was hard for us to decide since this is our first cruise, but after reading the boards, it sounded like maybe we should enjoy a ship that isn't so crowded, plus it saved $$!! We hope to snorkel at Castaway Cay, and enjoy the beach. We don't get to many opportunities for that living in Kansas!

I have a brother and 2BIL in Denver, so I know you have already had your share of winter! I agree that about any warmer weather will feel balmy right now!
