JANUARY 27, 2007 "PAL MICKEY" Western Magic ROLL CALL

So guess I just better overpack. And know what I am not worrying about whether I do or don't. And not worrying or concerned about how much I bring. The luggage I will hide and get out of the way no matter which ones I bring. But if I bring two checked and one carry-on, and I bring too much oh well. I will tip the porters very well <G>

You go girl! Gotta agree. DW and I are first time cruisers and I know I feel safer overpacking. Between Calgon's (www.geocities.com/Calgon1/UPL-2_Adults_Warm.html), Cruisediva's (cruisediva.com/pack_it.htm), and Passporter's ultimate packing list, I think I have been intimidated into submission. But, hopefully this will be the first of many cruises for us. Maybe someday we'll have it down to a science like taswira and all you other well traveled cruisers. Me thinks that travelsmith.com will be getting more business from us in the future. Gee can I get any more dot coms in this post?

Holly, When I saw Shari I didn't have the perm. Just got it last Saturday but am loving it <G>. I still have most of my length in the back just the sides are a little shorter but hard to notice. When Shari saw me I had a little makeup on (well the small amount i wear if wear any at all <G>) which for her was first time to see me with any makeup on. Ok I am not one for makeup esp going to the parks. But figured since going to the mall I better look a little more presentable. <G>

Agree with the suitcases in having to lug around, and stow in room. I too want to be able to fit the smaller ones into the largest one and get under the bed. So one reason I am or have packed a 24 inch duffle bag which will fit in my larger suitcase that will have my clothes.

I wish I could leave right now from Tallahassee. The mtg that is scheduled for 10a this morning well the "leader" of this mtg hasn't even arrived. She was suppose to be here at 9a to complete the audit, then we meet at 10a to discuss findings. Well geesh now she hasn't arrived means she hasn't completed audit which i imagine means the exit discussion will not be happening for a couple hours. grrrrr

I just want to get home so I can unpack and repack over qand over with different duffle bags/suitcases until I am pleased one something LOL. I have decided well for now to use a small duffle bag as my carry on that way I can hang it over the back of my travel power chair. if i bring a suitcase then i have to manage it on the footplate of the chair between my feet/legs. hanging something over back of chair sounds easier to me <G>.

I know Friday night I will not be able to sleep as I will be toooooooo excited.

I too am driving over thankfully which means i pull up, and allow the porters to get my checked bags out of car. then i go park, and use travel power chair with carryon to return to terminal and do whatever. I am hoping if i have my HC placard showing that I won't have to get out of the car for the porters to get my checked bags out of the back seat. I plan to have them in backseat at the door, so open the door, pull luggage out door, close door. Hope this works.

If find need more room for luggage let me know. We could always put extra in my SUV LOL.

see ya saturday. meet you and shari in terminal as early as possible <G>

see the rest of you when possible and hopefully many of you can meet at the 3p get together.

safe travels. and its about time to "party"

LOL glad someone else thinks the way I do LOL :cheer2:

hope to meet you soon :yay:

One popular way DIS members recognize each other is by getting the "Alien Green" (lime green) Mickey head paint swatch from Home Depot and either punching a hole in it to hang on a lanyard or bag, or laminating it, often writing their DIS user name on it. If you see that, it's a DISer for sure.

So I'm at Home Depot today shopping for a new sink faucet, and I see these funny looking color samples in the paint section that resemble a Mickey silhouette. Suddenly a light goes on , so that is what everyone was talking about! Can't say I'm the brightest bulb in the shed, but I think I just got a whole watt brighter. I had to go through the previous posts to find the one where taswira explained it to someone else.

I guess we'll make name tags with our real names rather than my disboard userid. So look for David and Kaye with our "Alien Green" Mickey nametags. :thumbsup2

:earsboy:

Well here I am again, not quite there yet. We are in Toronto, which means we didn't get on our North West flight thru Minn.

Quite a story coming.

By the time we checked in at Regina for our flight we were the last to book in and they had overbooked the flight by 2 people and no-one wanted to take the offer to get free tickets and get off.

So they rebooked us on Air Canada thru Toronto but the flight left at 12pm instead of our initial time with NW at 7am.

"Oh well", we thought as we we settled into the first class lounge, yes first class, they upgraded us on AC to first class all the way to MCO!! Plus they gave us $40 to spend on breakfast in Regina as well. Oh, and I forgot to mention the bonus was 4 roundtrip tickets on NW anywhere in North America NW flys, good for a year!!

We thought, not a bad price to pay even though we get into MCO @ midnight instead of 2:30 in the afternoon, "It's the start of our vacation so suck it up and I'll know better to check in on-line the night before or get to the airport earlier next time."

But hold the phone the plot thickens!!!

We waited the 5 hours in Regina watching the fog thicken by the minute, as well as listening to the airport announcements tell of one delayed flight after another!! DW said there is a reason we were bumped off that flight and sometime we would find out why. About half an hour before our scheduled 12pm take-off, the fog lifts and we board!!!

As we sat there in the front of first class I noticed another family board with little ones. I asked, "are you going someplace warm?" and they said "WDW"!!

The woman asked if we were also on the 7am NW flight and we said yes we were bumped off and onto this flight. She exclaimed that after boarding the flight at 7 they sat on the taxiway for 3 hours in the soupy fog and finally returned to the gate and CANCELLED the flight and started rebooking everyone after that!!!!!!

So, everyone had a chance to get free tickets and get off that flight, and refused and we ended up with the freebies and first class tickets, and a guaranteed flight out!!

We certainly came out of that smelling like a rose, after I felt like such a SOB for not getting us there on time or checking-in the night before.

Now that is quite the start, we will see how it goes from here!

Oh, by the way, we are in the first class lounge in Toronto on the computer writing this, and we are now going to get some FREE bevies and some dinner, life is good!!

See you soon!!

I'm so glad things are working out for you after all. When you mentioned the family you spoke to and they said "WDW," for a second I thought that was going to be followed with, " . . and the Disney Magic on Saturday!" :goodvibes

Okay, this is embarrassing. :scared: I'm NOT excited about the cruise at the moment. :confused3 We haven't started packing. The house is a mess. We had an overflowed toilet yesterday that dripped from the top floor of the house down to the main floor and into the basement. There's a ton of laundry to do. :laundy: :laundy: :laundy: It just seems like there's so much work to do before we can go. Anyone want 4 kids? Now DH is trying to get us to go to Friendly's for dinner because we have coupons expiring!

48 hours from now it all won't matter. We'll be in Florida and I'll be picking up my Pal Mickey. I'll drag out the suitcases tonight and start packing, maybe that will help me get excited. I did score some alien green mickeys the other day.

I am in the Disney mood nearly all the time though. My license plate on my car is DSNYSCT (DisneyScout). I got a 5 disk set of Disney music for Christmas, so I have that going in my car all the time.

Okay, off to dinner. 39 hours until departure!

I agree with you Kim. The stress level of trying to get every ready has hit a peak today. I worked 10 hours and came home to a disaster of a house. My husband is out running the errands we didn't finish yesterday night. My parents showed up to housesit for us so that means time to catch up and answer questions. My 3 year old is bouncing off the walls. The teenagers are doing everything in their power to bargin their way out of school tomorrow and at this point I DON"T CARE. I know it is always like this prior to vacation but the thought always crosses my mind at this point as why we put ourselves through this. I know that as soon as we get on the plane onFriday at o'dark thirty all will be well, but oh the preparation! Chin up Kim we will make it!

Sending you pixie dust...........I am almost ready to start the ACTUAL packing. We are leaving friday afternoon but I have to work until 11:30 on friday so I have to have everything packed and ready TOMORROW night - I have everything - I think - out and ready to be packed - I hate crosspacking BUT I know if I don't something will happen to someone's luggage - my shoes are way too important to get lost:rotfl:

Cruising Cannuck,

Cool beans as some say! Sometimes things work that seem like a hassle are really a blessing. Enjoy!

Cruising, My Buddy I am so happy for you and your family!!!! That is wonderful that things turned out so great for you. Send some pixie dust my way. I look forward to hanging out with you and your family.

I really hope to meet as many of all of you as possible. hang out some, getting to know you and your families. I don't have children but I act like one <G>

safe travels and just remember its almost time to sail away!!!!

Okay, kids are finally in bed (most of them, we're still negotiating with the 4 year old.) This week has been early dismissals all week for the kids, so they'll get home early tomorrow again. Miranda (DD11) is helping with the laundry.

We brought up the luggage this evening and I had to smile. I had forgotten I had two Mickey Mouse suitcases. I knew I had one and was planning to use it. I just have to check to see if the portable swing will fit in that suitcase or whether I will need to bring a different suitcase. I'm rooting for fitting into the Mickey suitcase, but who knows. That will be tomorrow's adventure.

I found lime green leather look luggage tags, so we'll have those on at least 4 of our checked bags. That should help them stick out. That and Ilea has her name embroidered on her Tinkerbell suitcase. She is so excited! She got the three piece Tinkerbell set from my parents for Christmas. I've never seen a child so happy to get luggage. I think she packed every pink item of clothing she owns. :rotfl2: (Her birthday was Monday and she had a PINK birthday. Pink cupcakes, pink icing, pink sprinkles on top, pink cupcake liners, and pink candles on top. She's been telling everyone that we were going on a cruise after her pink birthday. :cutie: )

I think I'll bring my Tinkerbell Mickey Ears. Last year Miranda wore her Stitch hat and got quite a few laughs out of that.

Okay, things are a little better now. Thanks for the pixie dust!

Kim

Cruising canuck, all I can say is WOW! :faint:

Also, for everyone else feeling the stress, I know my DW was feeling it this morning, so I guess it hit everyone at the same time. I wish a good night sleep for you all. Hopefully this pixie dust stuff helps. :tink: Let'em have it Tink!

DisneyScout - That's SCARY! What are Stitch and Tink doing with MOUSE ears? :lmao:
