JANUARY 27, 2007 "PAL MICKEY" Western Magic ROLL CALL

Hi - was it your son who joined us on the bridge with Captain Forberg and his officers? It was only moments before we sailed from Castaway Cay? Wasn't that the just coolest experience!!! Barbara, Manager from Services, arranged that treat for me and for brady. So many crew members gave us special moments, both small and grand. And that was a grand one.

Yep, that was us! Or concierge team arranged that for us. It was wonderful. Both of my sons are still wearing the medals that brady gave them after the tour. :goodvibes

everything was grand at least for me and Pal. I have gotten four online photo albums up and have at least two more to do.

if interested here are the links: (Hope its not against rules to be posting these links, if so someone let me know. thanks)

This seems a little strange....I can think of better things to do then to dress up a doll!!!!:rotfl: Do you really think that this behavior is the norm?? Ohhh Boyyy!!!

Hey! I saw you on the cruise a few times, too! I think we were waiting in line for that final elevator ride into the terminal, too. We were hard to miss with our huge stroller. (It's a double seater, infant seat in the front, second kid faces backwards in the back) I felt badly about having such a large stroller, but with Elijah being so small, we really needed it a few times and it also helped quite a bit with Ilea's tired legs on more than one occasion. NEXT time, we won't need such a big stroller.

I kept thinking about saying hi, but I ended up being too shy. I'm not sure I would have stopped to speak with Taswira if she hadn't noticed my Pal Mickey hanging from my fanny pack as I was walking by her in the Promenade Lounge on the first day.

Oh I wish you had said something. Sorry I didn't. I wasn't noticing much of anything or anyone waiting on that last elevator. If had any idea that was you and your family I would have spoken. so sorry I missed the chance. maybe we will get another chance someday to meet and say hi to each other.

hope you and family had a great time, and a safe trip home.

that's so cute to hear they are wearing the medals. it was great getting to experience the bridge with you and your family.

Hi everyone - welcome back! I don't know about you guys but I am still rocking from the ship :goodvibes We had a really fun and busy week. The weather was honestly the best it could be, it was so much better than the Eastern we went on last year. I am sorry I didn't get to meet up with many of you - the family kept us busy, my kids enjoyed the pools much more this time. I LOVED the hot stone massage too and will be doing that one again :) My son won a foot and ankle ritual during Bingo one night - he is 11 and had no desire for a foot and ankle ritual so he gave it to me. On Friday I used it in the morning before going to Castaway Cay - it was loveley and a perfect start to a wonderful day on a beautiful island.

We rebooked onboard too - we booked the 2 week Aug 2008 Repo. We were considering it anyways and asked for a quote on Monday - my DH came back with the ressie one afternoon - quite a nice surprise. We got a cat 6 (6548)and are only 3 cabins down from where we were at this cruise (6554). Now I am trying to figure out how to get my Dear Neighbor, her hubby and her granddaughter on with us - not sure of that will happen but I suppose we can try.

Happy new week to everyone, hope everyone has a great one!!

That's GREAT news, msaseifert! Congrats on getting another great stateroom for it also. :goodvibes

I would LOVE to do the repo cruise but my elderly mother is as issue for me getting away (needs to be when my sister will be around) plus it is expensive. So . .

The good news for me is that I actually LOST weight on this cruise! It was only 6 pounds, but I expected to gain ten or so. Taking the stairs the majority of the time (except when I was in heels and the ship was listing) must have really helped. :thumbsup2

We Cant Wait - I'm sorry I missed the last show but my DH and DD went and they talked about the little boy - I didn't know it was your son - what a terrific memory!!

Sorry to Cruisin Canuck and speakupjc that we weren't able to connect - a clingy 17 month old seemed to change quite a few of the plans that I tried to make. Was it relaxing - no but was it the most AWESOME vacation ever - oh definitely YES!!! Will we go again - in a heartbeat - we've already started talking about it and started the cruise fund...

Did anyone else miss the handwipes in the public places on their travels home:rotfl: :rotfl: ??

Thanks again to everyone who gave me such great advice over the past year - it really made this trip an unbelievable memory...

LOL - I got in the habit of also wiping my Pal Mickey's hands with the wipe before entering and often after leaving the dining room, because sometimes people would shake hands with him or otherwise handle him. I know crew members will be laughing for some time to come about many things some of us "Pal Mickey people" did. :rotfl2:

FYI: It was amazing the number of passengers who asked us where they could buy a Pal Mickey, thinking they could just run in and get him at one of the ship's shops. There is a possibility that there may eventually be a "Captain Mickey" version of Pal Mickey for the ships. He could have several costumes such as Captain's uniform, reversible Animator's vest and other outfits to match the restaurant servers, Castaway Cay swimsuit, etc. Cruise Director Christiaan was seeing "Disney dollar signs" and talking about maybe having emitters to transmit "inside info" and special tours that only Pal Mickey could "direct." So a few who may think the little guy is a worthless "doll" might change their viewpoint. :)

Oooh! I want a Captain Mickey! That would be SO cool! :cool2: He could give insider cruise tips, show reminders, character appearances, and share fun cruise facts (3500 chicken fingers are served daily on the Disney Magic, etc)!

Where can I sign to encourage them to make one? :lmao:

Write to DCL! :goodvibes

I think it will happen eventually with or without our encouragement because I think "they" saw a few of the fun things that can be done with Pal Mickey onboard and did get plenty of requests to purchase him there, to no avail. It took at least 2 years after our "suggestions" for WDW to come out with costumes for Pal Mickey. They thought the market would not be profitable but were obviously wrong about that. DCL was aware that this was a "Pal Mickey cruise" (along with all our welcome non-Pal friends) and had fun with us over it. Christiaan is all for it and was coming up with ideas of his own for Pal, and says he (Christiaan) really does have the clout to make this happen. It WILL happen, I am certain, but keeps those cards and letters (and e-mails to DCL Guest Relations) comin' folks! :cheer2:

Glad you got to experience that! I had that pleasure on one of my first DCL cruises. WAY cool! :cool1:

It has been my good fortune to visit the bridges of all ships I have cruised. They are all different and all quite bright, organized and efficient appearing. My favorite may still be the Cunard Adventurer with the Captain's gold and mahogany tea cart that held his silver tea service for his daily afternoon tea.
Alas that ship is no longer in service.

Here's how I would rank the bridges for 'wow'
Cunard Adventurer
Disney Magic - tied for second with..
Royal Carribean's Majesty of the Seas
Carnival Fascination

I don't have them captioned yet (That will take some TIME!) and I will be posting various shots throughout the website, but for now anyone who cares to see them can go to http://www.palmickey.net/PalCruise, click the first thumbnail and work your way through each of the 60 pics I have posted.

REALLY cute photos! Hey everyone - you have to at least LOOK at the Spa photos with the Spa Manager, Douglas!!

I am so sad our cruise is over. All I've pretty much thought about since I've been back is how fast I can go on another cruise! It's probably going to be awhile though....

Thanks! I am about halfway finished captioning and should have them all updated with that later tonight.

I am sad also . . more than I ever imagined I would be. It's never been this bad. I might wake up in the middle of the night sometime and just book another one.

UPDATE: The captions are beneath the pics now. :)

Nice pics. I did not shoot anything I had photographed on previous Disney cruises because I have so many duplicates, so I deliberately limited my shooting. :)

anyone missing those wipes before eating? <G>

It has been difficult to get back into living in the "real world", stress from work and day to day. The cruise was so stress free for me, that I don't want to return to the "real world" <G>

brady - did you re-book onboard or after? I had thought about that late September date but that is when my husband is coming to FL for a fighter pilot reunion, plus I am hesitant to leave my mom home alone during hurricane season. Have fun!
