JANUARY 27, 2007 "PAL MICKEY" Western Magic ROLL CALL

That's good news! Will they let her hold onto her passport during the cruise?

Good news Binky. Just realized I was calling you Binny sorry.

Now you just have to get over the stress of packing and hoping you don't forget anything. That is were I am right now.

I have lists everywhere but nothing packed yet. Will start tomorrow when the kids go to school. Please don't give us any snow days this week.

Only good thing about seeing the snow now is that I will be leaving it in 5 days......

I don't have anything packed yet, but just finished getting all the stuff I need. I'll make lists and pack on Thursday. In the meantime I've pulled out the clothes (new and old) I intend to take, re-tried them on, checked for any repairs, etc. Laundered a few things that have been in the closet for quite a while. I'd already made a list of items I needed to get (Bonine, Clorox wipes, travel sizes of some toiletries) and have completed that list.

So I'm pretty confident that I'm in good shape! There are no kids or husbands to feed, take care of or pack for in my house, so I don't feel the need to pack any earlier. Besides the dog will have a melt-down as soon as he sees the suitcases...don't need to deal with depressed dog any earlier...:lmao:

We're almost there peoples! I'll look forward to meeting new friends, and spending time with old friends. :goodvibes

My daughter tonight asked us if we could go on the Disney boat in the summer, little does she know we are going in a few days. She told me what she would take on the plane to play with, to what animals she would take to sleep with.

This was one of my problems since her bed is so full of stuffed animals and dolls I told hubby I don't know which one she would want. Now I do. She also informed me that she gets the top bunk first.

There is so much excitement in the air.

PhantomsGirl have done that too. Tried on my clothes , iron some that have been in the closet since summer. Now if I could get Hubby to start....

I spent about 5 hours today - I got all my DD7 clothes together, all my DS11 stuff together and all my DH clothes together - I then ironed for about 2 hours non stop. Then, I finally got to all of my stuff and ironed for another hour. Everything is ironed and in nice little neat piles all in one area. All the suitcases are around and all I have to do is pack the piles into the cases. I have all the other little odds and ends together already. We just found out we have a 2 hour delay school delay tomorrow - that will help me get some more laundry done and put away. I was hoping for the whole day off but I will take the 2 extra hours :) We are onto the home stretch now guys - WOOHOO we are almost there!!!

I spent the day packing today. I have once again overpacked. I just can't help myself. We have 8 checked bags and two carry ons. I am glad it is done, now I need to work on cleaning my house. I cannot wait for a week of no cooking and no cleaning.

Msaseifert - you will have to meet our friend brady961 - she loves to iron too!!!! ThePhantomsGirl has a good idea to pack all on Thursday. Sounds good. I have shoes, underwear, toiletries packed already, and of course PM's things have been packed for over a week! LOL!

Here we got an inch of snow yesterday - first for the winter. So far no poor weather predicted towards end of this week. And our great adventure IS the end of this week. YAAAAAA!:cheer2: :cheer2: :hourglass :hourglass :hourglass :hourglass :hourglass

The last time I touched an iron was two Halloweens ago when I put an iron-on patch on my Pal Mickey's trick-or-treat tote bag! I don't think I even know where the iron is now. :rotfl2:

I try to buy things that don't require ironing and for those things that do, hanging in the closet for a day or so or hanging on the bathroom door while I shower usually relaxes the wrinkles. Things that do wrinkle will be wrinkled again after I sit down at dinner for an hour or more and stand up again, so . . . I am "iron-FREE"! :cool1:

What works well is to have your clothes so tight that your body takes the wrinkles out of them. If you eat enough on the ship, that can happen! :lmao:

OK... question for the travel experts. Can I take my prescription meds in my plastic organizer. You know the one that sorts them by day or do I need to take them in the bottles from the pharmacy? Also, how many suitcases is average? I want to take one big one, one medium one and a rolling garment bag. This is for a family of 4. DH thinks we should only need 2 total.

They keep talking about a storm system coming up here at the end of the week. Obviously they don't know about our travel plans because NOTHING can keep us from getting on that ship even if we have to walk from CT to Florida (dragging our 3 suitcases of course. LOL)

If you brings copies of your prescriptions with you, you should be okay not having your meds in their original bottles. Best bet to be certain since policies are constantly changing, call DCL and ask. I use a 7-day plastic dispenser for my vitamins and ginger root (non-prescription) because it saves space and is so handy.

DCL's baggage allowance is two checked bags and one carry-on per person, but many have been known to get away with more. I know that in my case the less luggage I take, the happier I am. :)

May I present to you....MY 500TH POST!party: :drinking1 :cheer2:

Kind of cool that I'm passing that achievement mark on this thread. :)

So far it looks like the weather will hold out - it may be partly cloudy on Saturday and Sunday, but not seeing rain forecast until Monday or Tuesday by which time we'll be much further south.

Current forecast for Saturday for Port Canaveral/Cape Canaveral is high 68 F with a 10 per cent chance of precipitation and max of 68 per cent humidity. Hmmmm. Good so far. Hope it doesn't change between now and then. :)

TWO bags for four people total?!!!! I'd be asking where he planned HIS stuff was going to go! :lmao:

Okay, granted kids don't need to take as much stuff as us unless they are babies in which case just empty the whole house into a bag! Their clothes are smaller and take up less room. But, still I would figure at LEAST one bag for each adult, maybe putting both kids in one bag, and a carry-on.

I won't really know until I pack, but I'll probably take one bag that's medium sized, a 26" duffel and a small rolling carry-on. And that's just for one person! I probably could get away with the one bag and duffel and may do that as I'd rather not lug too much stuff. Taswira and I are driving and I don't want to take up her whole car with my luggage. Also everything can fit right into the one larger bag so I can fit it under the bed in the cabin.

I'm trying to not overpack but I also want what I think I might want!

suzct, considering that you are packing for a family for 4, I think your DH should consider himself lucky that's all you're bringing :lmao: . We will have 3 bags as well plus a backpack for carryon. I think that's pretty good considering I see some couples at the airport with enough luggage for 12 and it's only the 2 of them!!

I don't really carry if it's only 68 in Orlando/Port Canaveral - it's gotta be warmer than here. Only 4 more sleeps til we're on our way!!

You know 68 degrees would really be perfect for embarkation day. Most people are lugging stuff and rushing around at airports and the terminal. 68 would be just cool enough not to feel like you were sweating bullets - yet not cold.

For those of us who live in Florida ...there's nothing worse than trying to do anything physical in heat and humidity.

I think 68 F will be PERFECT! Then I won't sweat too much when Holly and I are standing out on deck for the safety drill wearing those life jackets!

Wow! A family of four in just 3 suitcases! How many carry ons? I can't imagine being able to fit into so few suitcases. Are your kids older? I haven't had a vacation yet where I didn't have to pack diapers and they take up too much space. Of course, then there's space at the end for the souveniers. :rotfl2:

We're usually lucky if we can get it down to one suitcase per person. This time, that means 6 suitcases. :scared: That's not even counting the carry ons. I guess I better get started packing.

Thanks for justifying my suitcase dilemma everyone. If DH mentions it again, I'll just print out those responses. I know I could get by on less clothes, but hey..I'm a girlie girl and I need what I need.

I was going to only check one bag, as I always have, but I was forgetting how much my Pal Mickey wants to take. So I will be checking two bags after all. Of course, that means I will also have room for more outfits than I need for myself. When I kept it to one bag I've had everything mapped out about exactly what I will wear at each time of each day. Now I will have to look at my clothes and make decisions! :rolleyes1
