January 23, 2010 Sailing with Mickey on the Magic! **The Crusin' DISers**

Do y'all think it's to early to start organizing FE's and meets? I already started a running list of everyone's info organized by cabin #'s, so that's taken care of.

If you've been on a DCL cruise before and experienced sucessful events or if you just have ideas, please tell us about them so we can start figuring ours out.

What does everyone think?

I don’t think it’s too early. It may actually be beneficial to know what all is planned before we make plans for excursions and such. I have never done FE’s so I don’t know what to say to that. Just a note...our cabin numbers have changed since we added DH. Looks like he will be able to make it unless the Navy decides to change their mind again. You never know with them. I am unsure of the new cabin numbers but will post as soon as I find out. I guess I could check my reservation online but I am too lazy at the moment.

Definitely not too early.
I've already started making plans for my FE gifts.

I agree with all - definitely not too early considering I'm on the boards everyday practically and the cruise is still 9+ months away!:goodvibes

Hi everyone, I'm just catching up, haven't been here in a while...welcome to new cruisers!

Misha, that's cool, where will you be visiting in June?

For FE's - we participated in the exchange on 2 cruises. What I thought worked well on one of them was assigning everyone a certain day to deliver their gifts. This ensured that the gifts were spread out throughout the cruise and not all delivered at once. We didn't do this on the other cruise and it seemed all gifts were delivered by day 2, with most being delivered on day 1 if I am remembering correctly.

Anyone else done the FE exchange?

Never done an FE so forgive the questions. How does it work? Do you put something in the FE’s each day of the cruise or just once or twice? What types of things have people received?

Good idea, I like it! Was it random or by floor...I don't mind running all over the ship but I don't know about everyone else?

Ok, so if you want to participate in FE's, send me a PMand I'll check off your name.

Also, I was wondering how y'all felt about me putting the FE list on our web site? It's the same info in the first post of this thread, just organized better, but I thought I would check with you first.

Oh, it sounds like fun! I'm gonna say you can do or spend whatever you want...don't go crazy, though. Just search the term and you'll get all kinds of ideas.

It's official, I just booked 2 pre-cruise nights at the Poly and our airline tickets. My "little" cruise is turning out to be the $10,000 vacation! :scared1:

BTW-If you need airline tickets, book them on a Wednesday, they are always cheaper...I'm not sure why :confused3

Hey everyone,

I haven't been on in a while so I wanted to say welcome to all the new additions to our group.

I also wanted to share my experience with the FE and meet that I have had. I my last cruise I participated in the FE exchange and it was so much fun. We kept a running list of everyone that wanted to participate (one person was in charge of this so it didn't get to confusing - sounds like MaryK already has this under control). We also set a date a few weeks prior to the cruise as a deadline to join the FE exchange as many people don't want to have to buy gifts at the last minute, and many people leave for there trip well before the actual cruise. Each person was assigned a night to distribute their FE gifts that way everything wasn't delivered all at once. I think we ended up having 3 families delivering for the first 4 nights. We did it like that because many people gave gifts that were useful during the cruise, so delivery at the end of the cruise would not work. All of that was set up by the person organizing the FE list just to keep things simple. Now for the meet we agreed to meet at the Promenade lounge and that was a great meeting point however many people skipped the meet as there is so much going on while on the ship trying to gather up your crew to go meet people seemed like a low priority.

Just thought I would share my experiences, also I really would like to let people know to go easy on what they give for the FE gifts. I thought I only had small gifts, but it took up a bag and a half of my luggage. I also heard the same thing from many people in our group. It does add up fast.

I think assigning nights is a great idea! And as long as we have a list with room numbers I have no problem going to each floor. I'm already ready to go!!!! OK...not really but I want to go now!

Samily - we're going to Fall River, MA (where I was born and raised!) and my sister lives in Warren, RI. We'll be doing some touristy stuff this time too - Boston, Newport etc. Haven't been home in over 2 years and I can't wait!:yay:

Good advice, I'll take it, thanks!

I know mine will take some time to get so lets say the FE deadline is Sunday, December 13. That way it's not too close and "wrapped" up in everyone's Christmas planning?

Got it, thanks for letting me know!

We just returned from a wonderful cruise on the Disney Magic and can't wait to go again
My DH Harry and I Dot are from Central FL (15 min from Disney 1 and half from the port)
We participated in the FE on our cruise and it was wonderful. There were 22 cabins involved. and we got stuff in our FE everyday but the last day which was castaway cay day. Some people gave things out once and some gave them several days. We were like little kids coming back to the cabin to see what was in the pockets. Our cabin steward keep saying you are so popular. Items ranged from Scrapbook pockets to bubblegum. People really used their imagination. Got some key chains from different states and countries. And people made magnets for us to put on the door. Much much more but I am running on.
The shows on the cruise are wonderful (as good if not better than broadway)
Hope to meet up with you all on our meet day
Ole Ole Dot

BTW what is a SPH room? Sorry don't now all the language
Ole Ole Dot

First of all WELCOME!!!:cheer2:

SPH = secret porthole room
I think they are all on the 5th floor and have a porthole (or two) but the views are obstructed so they are considered a lower category.

HTH!:goodvibes

mystery solved and thanks for the welcome. Hope to be joining in on the group meets etc.

 Welcome aboard!!! We're glad to have you.

We first had a SPR booked but changed to a SVR(secret verandah room). Someone from our group grabbed it but then cancelled, so there might still be one available. Check our site for exact cabin #'s.
