January 23, 2010 Sailing with Mickey on the Magic! **The Crusin' DISers**

Two weeks from tonight you might find me in Cove Cafe, hoping to have some of these with a nice mocha latte.

Can't say no to a strawberry tart!

.

Count me in! I heard there are chocolate covered strawberries late at night too!

I gave my cabin-mates a list of things I haven't done yet (after the equivelant of 5 weeks on DCL):

Rainforest room and checking out the showers in the ladies locker room.
Character breakfast
Sail-away & Pirate party from DECK 9 (just observed from deck 10)
Atrium parties (Golden Mickeys 'after party' and final night "Till We Meet Again")
CC - bike ride and picture with Captain Jack
And still have some of the "Art of Entertaining" events to check out --napkin/towel folding for example. (Have done a couple of the food related ones...discovered that I WILL eat raw tuna.)

And just thought of another, haven't seen a 3D movie on board either!

.
Jeez, I didn't know the Golden Mickey's had an after party in the Atrium. My Mom and I want to check out the "Art of Entertaining" events as well. Does that have an age limit? DD is 13 and I think she would enjoy that.

Hi Everyone! Of those who have cruised before, do you usually give your older kids sign-out privileges from the clubs so they can go to movies with another kid or something like that?

On our first cruise we did not at first. After the first day DD, 11 at the time(not ds) was bugging me so we allowed her to sign herself in and out. With the exception of getting a drink and snack she could not roam the ship, unless she was going to Studio Sea (her favorite) or some other specific place. Other than that she had to come right to the cabin (a curfew of 11pm) or wherever we wanted her to meet up with us. She did not want to venture much. It was more the point that she was able to do it. This time around both kids want sign in and out privileges so we gave it to them (with limitations). As long as we know where they are I am ok with a movie or whatever activity they want to do. The majority of the time they are either supervised or with other people.

We have never let our children sign themselves out of the club. My DS was 9 on our last cruise and we would let him leave us to get something from the cabin or allow him to get a drink from the drink station. We didn't let him wander the ship by himself or with other children his age. On this cruise he is 10 and I still don't plan on letting him sign himself out of the club. It just makes me nervous thinking that he could sign himself out and I would not know where he is at.

Less than 2 weeks!!!! ACK!!!! Am I the only one who's counting down with butterflies in my tummy? :lmao:

Nope, not just you...I'm still wondering if I packed enough sweaters?! :scared1:

Have no fear...I cheked the extended forecast and it's supposed to warm up by the end of this week :thumbsup2

Ooooh, a tanning I will go, a tanning I will go, my summer clothes look terrible so a tanning I will go...:cool2:

I haven't seen them much at Cove Cafe, but at night (around 11PM ish) they put up a table outside the adult clubs and one near the atrium with hot and cold treats and I have seen them there (along with chicken wings!). If you don't run into any chocolate covered strawberries after a few days, ask you head server if he/she can arrange for some for your table one night for dessert.

I'm pretty sure the Art of Entertaining is an adult event, at least I don't remember seeing any children at any of the ones I've been to.

YAY!!!
And good luck on tanning... I'm too scared too try on my summer clothes. I hope I can still fit in them. If not then I'll be wearing jeans the whole 7 days... :rotfl:

Also don't forget the Dessert Gala buffet. I know that there is a chocolate fountain and you can get strawberries covered along with other fruit and marshmallows. It is wonderful, there are so many desserts to choose from. Anyone that has a sweet tooth make sure to go. It is not well advertised it will be on the front of your navigator in late night snacks and I believe it is Thursday night at 11:15 in Lumiere's.

HI everyone... I wanted to say HI LADIES and it seems that most of us (if not all) are just ladies here!

It's cold here again today. On Saturday we had one of the "take-your-breath-away-it's -so-damn-cold-days!"

Took my son to the Dr. the other day. He's been coughing and had a sore throat-turns out he has a bronchial infection-thank-goodness we've got it caught now and we've got a Rx for him. One of the boys had hockey on the weekend and then we went out for my b-day dinner. We also were looking into booking an electric car in Key West...has anyone ever done this. I'm debating the electric car or the Trolley. I worry about the parking issue with the car. I am still workign on the FE's...and sadly I am making my own FE holder thingy-out of new dishclothes:rotfl: So don't laugh when you bring something to our room!

Anyways...better get back to work. I sooo hope that the weather get's better. We are really looking forward to the sunshine!

Holly

"Your Walt Disney World® vacation is just a few days away!", is the email I just got :banana::banana:

I think it depends on your child to be honest. My 9 yr old is extremely responsible so yes I did allow herself to check herself in and out. Its alot about communication. when I drop her off she will know where I will be. We will also have a board that lets me know if she checks herself out where she is going.

Hi Holly!

Sorry to hear about your son, but good thing you caught and treated it now! I think the electric car sounds neat, but I think if we do anything other than walk we will get a pass for the trolley. I head somewhere on the boards that if you book the trolley tour through Disney, it is pretty whirlwind, but if you get the tickets yourself online or in Key West, then you can get off and on whenever you want. That sounds much better to me. If you go here: http://www.trolleytours.com/key-west/rates-and-reservations.asp tickets are $26.10 for adults and $12.60 for kids. We still may just walk, depends on weather...

Speaking of, we got up to a toasty 44 degrees today! Things are looking up! Of course, it was 14 this morning! I was trying on summer/spring clothes last night to start deciding what to pack and I was about to freeze INSIDE the house!! That is just not right! I am SO ready for some sunny, warm weather!!!

I am WAY impressed that you are making your own FE! :cheer2: I think that's awesome! I wish I could have....

That was my thought. I have been talking to her about it and have told her that if we do it, which we probably will, that she will not be going around by herself and that she must let us know where she is and not just be wandering the ship. Can the counselors page you when you child signs out and let you know where they are going? What did your DD do when she signed herself out? We also got a board for the door...

Holly, we decided to pass on the electric car, mostly for the parking issue...we'll be doing the trolley instead.

Well, no Golden Mickeys after party for me.....no more Golden Mickeys! :sad1:

"The Golden Mickeys" takes its last bow at sea

Last week's voyage of the Disney Magic marked the final performance of The Golden Mickeys stage show. Starting this week, the concert-style Once Upon A Song will run through the voyage of March 13. The show will feature both classic and modern Disney favorites.Villains Tonight is scheduled to run starting on the March 27 sailing, but may begin a week early based on the end date of this new show. Creation of this interim show both allows time to swap the stage sets in and out between The Golden Mickeys and Villains Tonight and lets Disney remove a show that features what may now be an uncomfortable scene where a cast member has a "discussion" via a TV monitor with the late Roy E. Disney.
The show will not be going away forever, though. It will be retooled and eventually resurface at Disney's California Adventure's Hyperion Theater, replacing Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular

We'll have to get a report from the folks on the Magic right now!
