January 21, 2010 - Wonder

LOL!!! Glad to hear you had your H1N1 shot, that editing made me laugh!!!
I hope you get feeling better~!! Drink lots of fluids and get lots of rest. Isn't that the only thing the DR ever tells you... sometimes it does work!

I actually don't know that much about it (Hilton) to be honest, I've read about it on the disboards, and it sounds like there are two differnt types of pass. A room pass, think its like $99 or something, where they give you an actual room to change in and maybe lunch :confused3, not exactly sure, and then a pass where you just pay per person, and you get to use their pool, beach and facilities. I THINK its fairly close, but maybe further than it looks on the map. I read that someone just said screw and took a cab for like $5 on the way back because it was further than they had thought. People are lazy...like me!

I still don't know what we are going to do... I really want there to be some good deals on the spa that day, as I'd really like to go there! But I also really need some beautiful ocean time! We'll have to meet for a drink there, if we both decide to go.

I'm so busy making my door decorations now, I forgot how much work they are. I did get smarter after last year... Last year I put our dates on ALL my door decorations, as I've heard of kids stealing them, but then after it all, I'm like oh great I just spent HOURS and HOURS making them, and now they're dated, so I can't reuse them...ughhh, just putting our first and last names on these ones. Only a couple with dates!

Anyways....hope you get feeling better!!!

You can see the Nassau Hilton from the Wonder as it pulls into port... the Hilton is right on the harbor. It looks nice, and it seems like it is an easy walk from the port terminal (definitely less than a mile, more like ½ mile). They have a pool, with nice lounge chairs and umbrellas -- you would definitely feel like you're at an exclusive Bahamas resort.

The only thing that turned me "off" about it, is that it is facing the harbor. At their beach, you would see (and hear) boats going back and forth all day long, and you don't get a good view of the ocean. But - some people might really like watching the boats, so if that's your thing... the Hilton would be an awesome place to spend a day.

Okay I will be sure to look for you guys. I prob could convince my hubby to do it, he doesn't really care, and neither of us get that embarrassed that easily...BUT with that being said, it is a little weird to be talking about your bedroom life to complete strangers, and a room full of them at that...maybe I'll drink this time...hahaha, we shall see. What kind of things do they ask on the DCL? At sandals there was, what's her bra size, what is he begging for in bedroom that u won't do? What is the item of clothing u hate seeing her wear, which family member would u get rid of...rate them in bedroom, multiple choice. I'll have to tell u guys that not on disboards, because we had predetermined a letter if there was a multiple choice. It turned out very embarassing!! Ummm, what would u change about your spouse. And a few others. Stuff u really never think about. Good memories though for sure!!!
Is itsad that this is what I'm spending my lunch break doing??? Lol

When we saw the "Match Your Mate" Game for the first time, they asked questions very similar to the ones you stated. Funny, but the one question that most of the guys got wrong was "please describe in detail what your spouse is currently wearing" They asked this question as soon as the wives were secluded off stage. I couldn't believe how many of the guys couldn't remember most of the clothing, jewelry, etc. that their wives were wearing that night. Makes you wonder if they pay much attention to their wives at all :confused3. In contrast though, most of the wives could describe in great detail, even down to the underwear, what their husbands were currently wearing :cheer2:. I also was surprised that even though alot of the multiple choice questions had one answer that was "nice" and not demeaning, alot of the participants were obviously being very honest, not picking the "safe" answer and answering the questions truthfully - apparently not concerned that their answer might embarrass or offend their spouse. Hopefully, those couples had good relationships with their spouses and could laugh at such things rather than get upset at each other - what a way to ruin a cruise :guilty:

5 days left until we leave for Disneyworld!!! YEAH!:yay:

We're signing off - we leave for the airport hotel tomorrow after DH gets home from work and fly out to WDW Thursday at 7:00!

If I miss you at the meet, enjoy your cruise.

Thanks for all the support and information!!!!!!!!!

Melanie, Dave, DD(6) and DS(4)!

LOL that sounds about right for the men, not knowing what their wives were wearing!! My DH would probably be like uhhh a dress??!?!? LOL, I think most of them just think of it as looking good on or not... Hahahahah!!!

I don't know if we'll do it, haven't decided yet. Sometimes its way more fun to just watch the others and laugh at them!!! Guess it'll depend on how tired we are! SOOO excited its going to be here...Today was one of those days where all day I just kept saying, ohhhh when oh when is vacation!!!! Luckily its soon!!

See you guys in a little over a week!!! HOORAY!

Glad to say I don't have the flu.. must have been just a bad night last night. Who knows???.

Dh will not go anywhere near where they will be asking questions like those!! LOL He get's embarrassed for people that sing Kareoke..

I had almost decided to do the Hilton thing, when I started reading the reviews on trip advisor.. not I am not so sure. Maybe back to Blue Lagoon Beach Day.

Since I am not decorating my door... except for a Bon Voyage Magnet.... I think I may bring some decorations for our Meet... :hippie:

LOL! Its quite entertaining actually...Pretty embarassing at the time and then I realized ohhh I'll never see half these people again, who cares. Whats sad is now two of the other couples are pretty good friends of ours! LOL, so now they know some of our intimate details, and we know ALOT more of theirs!! LOL

I know, after reading KSandbergFL saying it views the port...ughhh I don't think that sounds even slightly exciting... How much is the Blue Lagoon Beach day??

What do you mean you aren't decorating your door?!?!? :sad2::sad2:

I am too lazy.. and I don't want anyone stealing my stuff. ( door decorations) I told DH to got get lime green Mickey paint chips today.. He was like HUH??? So now I have to ask.. do they still have those? Or am I that lame? Blue lagoon is 59.00 each and has 2 return times.. one after 3.5 hours and one after 7.5 hours.. that way if it's cold, we come back early, if it's warm we stay and enjoy the beach.;):hippie:

I was pricing some of the spa services.. boy they are pricey. Really, the only thing that is reasonable is the pedicure... or the Rasul thing and I know DH wont' go for that. :lmao: Hawky, did you decide on your spa service???:hippie:

Dang I thought I had saved this thread about spa services but I didn't !!! Dang...i agree its VERY expensive...however, on port days they do a special deal. This one DISer wrote about getting a 85 min treatment, like a 30 min massage, mini facial and pedi/mani for like $150 or something...but it only happens on port days. I'm gonna look around the cruise threads and see if I can still find the exact details. Thats THE only way I'll go...

I'm not sure if they still have those paint things or not, I was thinking about going to get some too to save me time, but haven't actually had any time to go!!!

OH and glad you are feeling better!!! :cool1:

Okay nevermind, I just went thru 10 pages, and couldn't find it...hmphhh... well you could just ask onboard...but I know they only offer those on Port Days...

DCL *does* run specials at the spa... they are sometimes unadvertised, and you have to walk to the spa entrance to read the whiteboard for the "specials of the day". From what I remember, the specials are generally akin to a "buy one, get one free" -- like, buy a massage and get a facial thrown in. The prices stay the same, they don't discount the price. The specials are dependent on how booked they are for that day.....

We are gonna keep our eyes out for a special on the "Alone Time" package, my wife would really enjoy that.

If you like the idea of spending the day at a hotel beach in Nassau, then Cable Beach would probably be for you. It's a few miles from the port, facing the ocean. You'd have to catch a taxi from the port terminal ($4 per person, each way). This thread says that the Wyndham charges $15/person for a beach pass... sounds reasonable.... there are some pictures too... looks a little "crowded" and "touristy" for my tastes, but it's a much better location than the Nassau Hilton.

Ok KSandberg... You have almost convinced me that Cabbage beach is the place.. so you are sure you feel safe there? Your video looked very nice, did you take towels from the ship?

Hi... Cabbage Beach is the free public beach ¾-mile down the road (east) from Atlantis. CABLE beach is the other direction (west) from the port terminal, and is not "free" (but has hotel amenities). Yes, we packed some snacks/chips from the ship, and brought our room towels. It is very easy to get there and back.. and YES, we felt very SAFE. We thought we'd only last 2-3 hours before we wanted to go back to the ship... but we enjoyed it so much we stayed for 6 hours.... and we would've stayed longer, but the Wonder was leaving at 5pm. This time we will bring more money, so we can rent a jet-ski and get a beachside massage...

We intend to go there again on this cruise, too. However, the water will be colder so I don't know how long we will last.... we might end up staying on the ship until lunchtime, and going to Cabbage Beach for just a couple hours in the afternoon.

I posted a lenghty review of Cabbage Beach in this thread, if you care to read it (look for my posts):

Wow, so people really steal the door magnets. Thats terrible. Anyway mine are done, some have our names already in the design some do not. Should I put our names on the front of the ones that are not personalized with a sharpie? What do you all do to try and keep them from being taken?

Hey I was pretty worried about people stealing our magnets last year, so I dated almost all of them. The ones I didn't date had our names on them, Rebekah and Arthur, luckily my name isn't spelled the common way, and not many people are named Arthur, so we were pretty luckily with that.

I might just put your name on there just in case, it also depends on where your cabin is located, we are on the VERY end this time, so I doubt many people are going to even be passing our room. If you are in the middle where lots of kids are running by, some of them might take them off. Not sure. I was SUPER paranoid about this last year, thats why I dated almost everything...

Melynn- if you haven't left yet....
I found the price about that package I was telling you about. Well the quote from the thread I read about it on. And I'm quite embarassed to realize I had the thread saved in my subscribed threads...lord I gotta start getting more sleep.... see below.

I did a Pamper Package on the 7nt cruise last week. They offer it on embarkation and port days. It includes full body massage, facial, foot and scalp massage (75 minute treatment total), plus champagne, strawberries (chocolate covered) and unlimited use of the rainforest room for the rest of the day. Cost was $149. " From user HALLSofVA

You read my mind! I just checked the weather in the Bahamas this morning and got concerned that rain is predicted both Friday and Saturday. I have a Sea Lion Excursion planned on Friday and this is the one part of the trip I have been looking forward to the most. If they cancel it, I will be so dissappointed:sad1:. They probably wouldn't cancel an excursion involving people being in the water if it is just raining, but if there is thunder present, just like at a pool, they will probably cancel the event. I would hope that since my excursion was booked through the Disney Cruiseline that if the excursion is canceled, I won't be charged. If I had booked it directly with the vendor, I would be more concerned that they would not refund my money. If anyone out there knows for sure from experience about this topic, please respond so we can breath a little easier - these excursions are expensive.

I havn't started packing yet and I leave for DisneyWorld on Sunday morning :scared1:. I will be washing clothes today to get prepared to pack all day Saturday. I'm one of those people that can't just throw things in a bag in 10 minutes and be "ready-to-go". My DH can - I'm jealous. I'm not high-maintenance but I am a little anal retentive and I have to fold everything perfectly, be sure everything matches and go over everything several times to assure myself I havnt' forgotten to pack something essential . It's 27 degrees in Virginia this morning and I am SOOOO looking forward to some warmer weather.
