January 2016 Discount Code Watch

So what is better waiting to book or going ahead and booking then asking for the discount. ..if there is one...to be applied later?

If you want a discount, and you're already booked, they have to search the inventory for availability. There is no automatic apply.
I don't book ahead if I need the discount. It's hard to wait, but I'm waiting. :)

Wondering if in addition they may send out some pins for Free Dining? I think that's how we got in on it a couple years ago...it wasn't offered to the general public, only through pins. Fingers crossed!!!

That would be amazing! :mickeyjum You-Whooooooo Disney Pin Code Selectors...This girl would Lovvvvve a Free Dining Pin Code!!! :goofy:Pick Me! Pick Me!:donald: PLEASE!!!

I so agree with you on this! We always upgrade to the Deluxe Dining Plan and I think that they should discount accordingly! Just as they do for a Deluxe Resort for the Room Only Discount!

Unfortunately this did not work. At Values you got 55% off QS; At moderate and deluxe resorts you got 55% off of regular dining plan. To upgrade to deluxe dining plan it was the full cost difference per person per night between regular dining and deluxe.

Bummer.

Well, I guess discussion on this topic is a good thing. If we keep on bringing it up, maybe Disney will see the light! Deluxe Dining is amazing but extremely expensive! I am assuming Disney would benefit if more people upgraded to this option. So a greater discount may help to sell more of the option and in turn get more people hooked. It's a Win-Win!!!

I have been silently watching this thread for a couple weeks. I am hoping for a discount for POFQ but I saw some people saying they haven't offered discounts for FQ in the past.

POFQ is the only place we want to stay this trip, so I booked through Orbitz. The room was 170 instead of 175 plus 15% discount. I'll cancel if Disney can do better.

I knew I would have to call to have them apply the discount just wondering if it is best to reserve your room so they don't book up.

Discounts are released for rooms that aren't selling, if everyone books before the discounts come out there is less of a chance of there even being discounts. See what I'm saying? Every room is only allotted so many for the discount, having a reservation at that hotel doesn't give any priority to to one of the rooms that are discounted. Even though it looks like they are just "applying" the discount, they can't do that unless there is a discounted room available at your hotel. At least that's my understanding, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

So really, if you have no intention of paying the non-discounted rate, then I don't see any reason to book early, in fact it could actually be detrimental to the amount of discounts released. If you plan to stay there regardless, and a discount would just be an added bonus, then I would say book.

We can't really seem to decide where to stay so I suppose waiting may be my best option. Do you know what time discounts come out and booking is allowed? I have stayed up until after midnight to do fp reservations but the dining starts at 7 am so I wasn't sure what happens with the trip reservations.

Check out Orlando By Joe's post on fb. He is saying that Little Mermaid Rooms, All Star Movies & French Quarter will be excluded.

I am guessing POFQ is excluded because it's a small resort and the idea of discounts is to fill up rooms and that's not too hard with a smaller resort? But that still makes me sad. Unless it's going to save me a considerable amount of money, I will probably stick with FQ. On the other hand, I am happy to hear the rumors that the discounts will start January 2nd- I was worried it would the 5th or later like past years

Thanks, I did and could not find anything. Let me look again

Little birdies are chirping that the next round of discounts may be released on September 28.

Rumor has it that there may be both a "stay, play, dine" discount AND a room discount offered on most dates from January 2 thru March 19.

Same basic exclusions as always: mermaid rooms at Art of Animation, French Quarter, and All Star Movies (hoping that's all), along with minimum stay and tickets, as usual.

The bigger question is, will Disney Visa get to book a few days early this time?

Keep your fingers crossed everyone!!!

For some reason I couldn't copy the Facebook link, but I did copy and paste the post (see above).

Thanks for the copy. I went to the Twitter link and I get that the user does not exist. Probably privacy settings or something lol
