January 2013 Discounts

For those who were able to book reservations and get the S/P/D promo...did you need a promo code or was your CM able to apply it without a code? If you needed a code, could someone please share that? :lovestruc

I didnt need a code, but the CM I spoke to (I missed her name) seemed to know exactly what she was doing. Others have said that the person they talked to seemed rather clueless. It wouldnt hurt to have the code in front of you when you call.

Code is Q69 but I didn't need it either

thanks guys! Already have reservations but wanting to apply the discount. Hoping to get this locked in so I dont hafta worry anymore! :goodvibes

it seems as someone else stated that q69 is add ons for everyone at child prices......the more adults in your party the more you save.....we are 4 adults and the saving was 1500 off rack. we did it with q85 disney visa last week but it is the same calculation...............

Got through early this am...CSR Feb 26 - Mar 6, 2 adults & 2 kids, DDP and preferred room for $3767...saved a little over $570 with the s/p/d! Tried to call back to ask one more question and was on hold for over an hour...gave up!
Asked CM about RO discount and she said the s/p/d was a better deal...but now I'm wondering if I could have saved more...guess I'll call back later when the action dies down! Good luck to everyone waiting!!!

Well, I called this morning...changed my January rack-rate magic your way reservation to a discounted room only only reservation. (We had purchased AP's between the time I made the original reservation, so we no longer need tickets). Once you factor out the no-longer needed tickets, I suspect I saved a good 1500 clams.

Also, just an FYI for people. The CM I spoke to had said that she doesn't see any more free-dining deals coming down the pike and suggested that Disney Travel is getting rid of free-dining as an incentive. Instead, there will be discounts on the dining plan.....but no more free dining.

I only saved about $560. I am also wondering if I could have gotten a better deal but I was too concerned with losing the call, or the whole system exploding so when she told me the deal I took it. It's still cheaper than I expected it to be but I'm seeing posts with savings of $1000! I guess since it's two adults only on my reservation I didn't save as much as a family would have.

You're right, the savings are much more when you have older kids. If you'd like to save more I'm happy to send my kids with you...:) (I'd miss my kids, but I've never been to Disney with just my husband and that sounds like fun!)

inkedupmomma: I used the idea listed below:

I figured out that the Kid dining plan was $17.16 per day (vs $55.59 per adult) and used the kid ticket price from the Disney website (after the tax was added) and ran the figures as if everyone in our party was a child plus I added on the cost of a room only reservation to figure out what my cost should be with the s/p/d promotion - if I can ever get through again!!!

can you tell me the math you are doing? because I called and only saved $30 initially then $142.. still well below what I was expecting :(

We are staying at pofq jan27-feb 1, dxdp, standard room 6 day ph, 2 adults , 2 kids ages 12 and 6.

Your savings seems low.

POFQ is a moderate, so you could choose to take 30% off RO instead of s/p/d. Taking 30% off the room rate, you'd save about $330 on garden view and $360 on river view.

S/p/d is the same formula for moderate as deluxe, so your savings should be more in the $72 per night range over the non-discounted prices, not $142 for the entire trip. You can calculate the s/p/d discount by calculating the difference in the dining ($55-17+99-55)*4 persons plus $2 * 4 persons for the ticket difference per day. So, your 5 night trip should have a total discount under s/p/d of about $370.

All calculations I show are rounded to the next lowest dollar. Expect Disney not to round, so the prices could vary by $20-30.

The two discounts are pretty much equivilent, based upon your dates and number of guests. But, they're still a lot more than $142 off list. They ARE about $142 off list if you previously had a AAA discounted room rate.
