January 2012 code watch :-)

Also looking for discounts for Jan 7-14ish. Considering AKL and Poly. Also may be able to get a CM discount, but we need to know what the "holiday discount" dates are for that. Would love it if Disney put of FD and Monster Pins for Deluxe. Last year I booked with SouthWest Vacations and saved $350. We got the 40% off the room the paid for DxDP and it was still $350 less than Regular FD. So check out Soutwest vacations too. Only downside is you have to pay up front.

We're in for January 1-8th. We've gone every year (for the last 3) at Christmas, but our school district messed up our break dates this year so we're improvising. Our flights are booked and we are planning on staying off site as of now. Just waiting for a great code to change my mind!popcorn::

We are in for Jan 8th through the 14th......First time EVER thinking about staying offsite....DH only wants to stay on site if free dining is offered! MY one daughter is going to be 11 and we will have to pay for my other daughter now, as she turns 3 in August! ANd six people in those small rooms....not so sure!

I am in the same exact boat! You don't happen to be from Cobb County, GA do you?? Our school district messed up the calendar big time this year, so that's why I ask. We are also headed down Jan 1-8 and looking to stay off site for the first time. That is, unless we can get a 40% code or something similar. We've been receiving codes like crazy over the past 2 years but have been unable to use them! If we don't get some kind of crazy good discount it is the off site Wyndham Bonnet Creek for us. It looks very nice and the price is fantastic. I will be fine either way, I just want to know for sure what we're doing! :confused3

We typically go the last week of January and are just waiting for some kinds of rates to come out... really hoping for Free Dining since our DS is now 10... but, we'll take what we can get! Come on Disney... give us some LOVE!

We're taking our FIRST family trip to WDW from Jan. 21-Feb. 4, 2012 and I can't wait! We have three trips planned for 2012 to make use of the AP's we bought (saved us money to do that with one trip in early 2012 and at least one other by Nov/Dec 2012!). I talked my DH into an Anniversary trip in April too, since we already have AP's. ;)

In Jan/Feb we're staying at Windsor Hills in a 3 bed/3 bath condo, for two weeks, for LESS than it would've cost us to spend one week in the ASMu Family Suites!!! We're also driving, so now we get free parking with the AP's. :)

We're so excited, and I'm getting anxious about making our ADR's this week! I've never done it before!!! :)

Got the flights for Jan 29- Feb 3, now to figure out where to sleep? :thumbsup2:rotfl:

Just for fun I checked out Hotwire, too bad we're kinda Disney snobs, Hotwire has a hotel with breakfast for $34 a night. :rotfl2: I couldn't even imagine getting the five nights with breakfast for less than we usually spend for one night at BWI. ;)

It probably comes with our own "pets" for the week too! God knows how much I miss my cats when I'm on vacation. :thumbsup2

Our vacation dates are Jan 5- Jan 13 with the first 2 nights at Uni RPR. We have never gone at this time of year and are really looking forward to the trip. We're booked in a deluxe room at WL. Hoping for AP room only or free dining. We've never had a free dining discount so that would be nice.

:confused3Can someone please explain what "pins" are and where you get codes. Also what does AP mean. I am new to all of this and have never stayed on site before, I am hoping for a good deal for 1/15 - 1/21. Can someone please explain how to go about it. Where do you book to get a AAA discount? Also what do you mean by bounce back? Thanks in advance, I really don't know the lingo on here!

WELCOME!!!!!

A PIN code is a personal discount code that Disney sends to individuals. It is for their use only.

AP= Annual Pass- some families buy one because the discount can be up to 40%. Here's a link to read about if it's a good idea for you:

To book AAA, you must first join, then call AAA to book your trip. This is the discount of last resort because it is never as good- or not to my knowledge-as the discounts released by Disney.

Bounceback offers are a card left in a resort room. If you book a new reservation before you check out, you can get a substantial discount on the room for your next reservation. These are not always available and sometimes they are only available at some but not all of the resorts.

Thank you so much for explaining that! Do you have to sign up somewhere to be on a list to get a "pin"?

You're welcome!!
Some people say that if you send off for the planning DVD or just creating an account at disneyworld.com helps. I'm not real sure. A couple of years ago, it seemed I received one a month. Up to that time in the 20 years we had gone to WDW, we had been sent 1 in the mail and since then I have not ever gotten one. To me, it's a roll of the dice.

I'm planning on a quick trip for the Family Fun Run (5K) - do they offer discounts for the weekend of Jan 5th? I was hoping to do a package with tickets & meal plan, I always got PIN codes in the past

One additional note re: Bounceback - if you do not find a bounceback card in your room inquire at the front desk to see if they are available during your visit. I'm so glad I had read this tip on the Disboards before our May 2009 trip because there was no Bounceback in our room but when I checked with the registration desk they gave me one. (Sometimes Mousekeeping does not think to check to see if the prior room occupant took the card with them.) I booked our Dec. 2009 trip with the Bounceback discount.

Thank-you for sharing this tip! I had no idea we could do this.

Are Bounceback offers ever given to people who rent DVC points? Or are they only for cash Villa guests, or regular resort guests?

We have only been regular resort guests. I think it might have worked for cash Villa guests but not sure about people who rent DVC points.

I'm joining in!! Out of the blue yesterday, my DH says we should take a quick trip to Disney World without the kids!!!! YES, PLEASE!!! So we are looking at January 4-7. :cloud9:
