We already had AAA, but AAA is saving us $199 on a 3 night stay at the Poly, so it's well worth the $30 yearly membership fee. It's also saved us a bit at other hotels throughout the year as well. Alot of times at upscale hotels, AAA rates include valet parking and/or breakfast, etc. in addition to being cheaper than the regular rate.

I bit the bullet and got WL + free dining for the end of January. Wanted Poly (I don't think any room will beat last year's marina view) but it was almost $800 more than WL courtyard view. Still hoping for a room-only pin, but I'll take free dining for sure!

Crunching the numbers to figure out if it's better for our group to stick to Windsor Hills, or come onsite for the free dining. Kinda hard since it's not an apples to apples comparison. Congrats to all who were hoping for free dining and it's available during your stays! And still crossing my fingers for those outside the dates or who want a room only discount!:goodvibes

Disappointed that it doesn't work with our dates. But lack of free dining is not going to make or break the trip or staying deluxe for the first time. We've saved and had the reservations made for a while... would have been nice to use the savings for something else but, eh, whatever.

The free dining works for our dates in Feb. but I still prefer the room discount to stay deluxe. Here's hoping the discount I really want will be offered.

Congratulations to all of you who received your free dining wish come true! :tinker:

We took advantage of the free dining for our trip. It's not saving that much money though-we were going to eat small CS meals and pay OOP. Now we'll eat a whole lot better;) We had to give up the AAA discount, but FD was a much better deal for us.

Okay friends ,I could be flexible because daughter is on x-mas break and had TA switch us to FD for Jan8 to Jan 14.Please tell me what the weather is like then, dear daughter is thinking it'll be cold .Help me prove her wrong !

I've done that time frame for the past 3 years. Here's how it went:

2009 - awesome weather. Temps in upper 70's to low 80's and only one day in the 60's with a little rain.

2010 - Cold snap! I believe they broke records that year not to mention it actually snowed in Orlando one morning (during the 1/2 marathon no less). Temps never made it over 50 if we were lucky.

2011 - Not terrible but still cold. High's were more like 60's. Not quite "shorts" weather but that would depend on where you're coming from. Low's were pretty cold. I'd say it was easily in the 40's at night. Only one day where it rained a little.

Hope this helps but the bottom line is Jan weather can be just about anything there. Hopefully it will be more like 2009 this coming year and stay nice and warm for us all going then!

Would rather a room discount, but still saved about $1000 when I adjusted the ressie for free dining. WOOHOO!

We've went in january before and it was hotter than hades in 2007 - now, coming from MN, I wasn't going to complain a ton! LOL And I'll take those 60's/40's considering that a negative sign could fit in front of most of our temps in January! :lol

We are all booked with free dining. Dh is still hoping a room only discount comes out and we will switch, but secretly I would rather have all that yummy food! He hates to pay for character meals. And we are doing hoop de doo, which there is no way he would pay $60 a person for a meal!

The weather was really warm our last trip this year. We were there Jan 28 or so and it was high of 80! We wern't prepared for that!

To book AAA, you must first join, then call AAA to book your trip. This is the discount of last resort because it is never as good- or not to my knowledge-as the discounts released by Disney.

Bounceback offers are a card left in a resort room. If you book a new reservation before you check out, you can get a substantial discount on the room for your next reservation. These are not always available and sometimes they are only available at some but not all of the resorts.[/QUOTE]

You can book a room only AAA discount directly with Disney. I currently have a room at the Poly in Value season booked with AAA discount through Disney, saved roughly $67 per night for a garden view. Currently the only discount even available for that time frame for room only.

It missed us by 2 days so I just did some room only reservations (3 different groups of people in my "party")...

Ended up moving from POP to POFQ, too. I've been on the phone all day, this is such a mess.

Their system keeps messing up and I now have 9 different confirmation numbers. And I was told one didn't go through, so we made another, and I just saw it listed online plus got billed for it.

SO! Calling back to cancel. My 4th call now.

We're going Feb 4-11. Not January- but close enough! We got the free dining offer. Even tho it's not entirely free cause we got deluxe dining. But I believe it was half off or something (DH handles the numbers, lol). But if any AP rates come out for our dates- hopefully 40%! -we will be using that discount instead.

Hi ! this is my first post : )

I wanted to have your opinion concerning a reservation. I’m planning on going to WDW in late January. I already booked a room using the room-only discount on the special offers page (-25% at values) and then added to it the tickets with the magic your way package. I’m hesitating about something though. I often receive pin code offers with the values being discounted anywhere from -25% to -35%. I was wondering if you think I should cancel my current reservation and wait and see if I get offered a -35% pin code. Thanks in advance for you opinion!
