January 2012 code watch :-)

So I looked it up for you and just discovered....

Rack rate for standard room value season is $89 I am paying $80.10 with AAA for Wed Jan 4th and Sun Jan 8th. With tax it is $90.12.

Rack rate for marathon weekend for standard room is $109.00 and I am NOT getting any discount on that. The CM didn't mention that those dates were blacked out she just gave me a total price.

In total I'm paying $548.10 for 5 nights. I am committed with a friend to do this marathon thing (seemed like a good idea a few months ago :rotfl:) so I guess I'm happy just to have a room booked. And sharing the cost with her it won't be too bad. I hope to get some sort of AP discount but I guess I won't plan on it.

I looked up your dates and the rack rate on a standard room for Martin Luther King weekend (1/13 to 1/15 Fri to Mon) is $114. I bet those are blacked out for AAA too.

Thanks.
I am hoping for a better discount (free dining or a room only) for our dates, but it's better than nothing for now.

Well we are going again in Jan 2012 regardless... but...

If it's not free dining, we won't stay on site. Wisconsin or not, we will drive and stay offsite for the first time in the 4 trips we have taken as a family. My parents will fly and stay onsite (mother is disabled, she wants the convience) while my wife and I drive the kids.

Here's hoping for great January Discounts!

well it's positive that the discounts have started! My fingers are crossed for free dining. I know it is silly, and I always hate when people say "i will go if i get _______ discount" ....but that is how i feel right now. So far the cost of the trip is SIGNIFICANTLY higher than what we paid in 2009. Part because my son is now 10, but also everything is quite a bit more, esp airfare. I am starting to resign to the fact that we won't go unless it is a good discount...if not may have to postpone to Oct 2012 (noone wants to have a double bed, so we are Moderate or up!)

I have a budget, and if I can stay within, we go. If I can't, we wait. bummer, but realistic!

Joining you guys in the watch!

My brother and his girlfriend are flying in from Australia and we are all going together! I'm on the lookout for some discount codes, though!

Might do AAA, since it's a smidge cheaper, but we'd have to buy a membership so not much.

Also, does anyone know if we were to get a PIN or a promo came out like free dining, are the AAA rates any cheaper at that point?

They always do some codes in Jan but not for marathon or Pres week...we have had % off, FD and 4/3. I am thinking they will do % but maybe less thgan last year; and maybe FD but maybe QSP not DDP for Value and Mods. Just hate the waiting. Also waiting for JetBlue to open up Jan and FEb so we can book air tickets.

I just started looking at the week before Presidents week. It will be value season through Wednesday, Feb. 15. :) Feb. 16 is peak rate. I'm hoping for a % discount for a deluxe. Our last 3 trips were 4/3, bounce-back and the monster pin (40% off on a deluxe.)

We book a room-only reservation every year in January around my birthday (1/16) and apply AP codes when they come out. This year we're finally trying to avoid the MLK crowds for once, and we're booking room+AP dining at CBR for 1/19 through 1/14. Hoping an AP code comes out in the next few months that we can apply to the reservation. Last year we got a week at POFQ+dining for under $900.

Subscribing to this thread.

We are planning on going from 1/1 to 1/8 and staying at a value the first night and the beach club the other nights. If we don't get a AP. PIN, or FD for the time in the beach club we are probably going to knock it down to PO riverside.

We are planning to arrive Jan 2, and stay until Saturday, which is part of the marathon weekend. (We are running the 5K). Do you think it will be difficult to get a room at that time?? I thought it was a low season time. Any chance for free dining in that time frame?

@spankysmom Last year 1/1-2/16 deals were 25-40% off or free dining offers for this time and it was release 8/16 which is when our current pin code expires. In 2010 it was room only and the 4 for 7 nights packages but they were not avaiable until October. I am really hoping for new pin codes in August!!!

Already booked 1/5-1/12 at Pop. No discounts yet, but I figured if something comes out, then I can always change it. I booked my room through Disney and CM said there were no AAA rates, but to check back later. Here's hoping for some pixie dust and a great PIN!

Glad I found this thread as we are thinking of going in Jan. and now I know what weekends to avoid. Helps in my decision making :)

I am pretty sure AAA discounts are out for at least part of your stay...

What a supportive wife you are! :thumbsup2 I go along for the marathon too because it feels like the right thing to do to. A home race? Not so much.:rotfl:

I booked room only through Disney at Pop with AAA for 1/4 through 1/9 but only got AAA discount on 1st (Wed) & last (Sun) nights.
