Hi!! I will be going in January of 2011! Jan 9-Jan 13. Just booked it the day before yesterday! Or was it yesterday? Already the days are blurring together. Time is going so fast! Which is a good thing when a Disney trip is in the near(ish) future.

Anyway, this will be our first time staying in a MODERATE resort. With the free dining, it was too good to pass up! I'm very excited to be going back to WDW--this will be my fifth trip. And I am eager to see what it's like to stay in a moderate resort after staying in Value every time I've gone to WDW. Don't get me wrong, I love Pop Century, but this will be a fun new experience.

We are going on Jan 28, 2011. Cannot wait! We are trying to keep it a surprise from the kids but I think they've already figured it out. Our oldest is 11 and this will be his 5th trip. Our youngest is 5 and this will be his 4th trip. We are staying at POR - our first time there. We've stayed at AS-Sports, POP and CB before. We are going with friends and their 3 kids who have never been before! Just made all of our dining reservations. Jan can't come soon enough!

We are trying to plan our first trip to WDW. Ive actually been there 2 times before but I was much younger. DH and kids have never been there before. My kids are 4 and 1. We are looking into Fort Wilderness or the music based one. Money aside, I was just wondering if anyone has had any expirience with either of the two or opinions one way or another. We are looking into going the last week of January or 1st week of Feb. Anything you can tell me would be greatly appreciated.

My mom and I just finished planning a January trip! Jan. 7th - 14th at POP. We have an early morning flight there and a late night flight returning, so we'll be able to spend a portion of both flight days in the parks. We're also taking a day out to go check out the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal. It's our second Disney trip with just her and I and we had so much fun last time (back in 2006).

labrat1429, we stayed in an All Star Music Family Suite in February, and I highly recommend it. I actually tried to get one during my dates in January using one of the promos (free dining, gift card, and 25% off rack rates), and none were available - maybe you will have better luck with your dates. We liked the suite because you get two rooms, so you could put the baby down early and still watch tv in the other room. My boys, ages 9 and 7, liked sleeping in the living room while DH and I took the bedroom. The pull out couch and chair were very comfy for them. Having two bathrooms was a plus, too!

Another option is to get two connecting rooms at another value resort. That's what we are doing in January - two rooms at Pop Century - since we couldn't get the family suite. It was way cheaper than getting a cabin at Fort Wilderness.

Brewhome- Thanks for the response. We are trying to figure out if we should try to buy points to stay at Wilderness or do the ASM one. So many choices. What were your dates if you dont mind me asking? I think we are looking at Janaury 30th through Feb 3rd or 4th. There is way more planning than I ever remember before I wish I had more time to devote to it. I suppose I better get on it though before all the decent rooms are gone!

Can't wait to get there! I just finalized a surprise 5th birthday trip for our DD from the 22nd to the 30th. We'll be in the villas at Wilderness Lodge! After a lifetime of Disney, this is my first time staying in the park...I'm so excited I can barely stand it! Has anyone done a child's birthday? I think I'll start a thread for fun ideas, ways to surprise her and "must do stuff". Look forward to counting down with you!

labrat1429, our dates are 1/11-1/18 - so maybe you'll have better luck later in the month. We'll be there right after marathon weekend and over the MLK JR weekend, so that may be why the suites booked up fast.

Hey Labrat, we did the points at VWL and got an amazing deal! We are staying from the 22 to the 30th for $9 per point (total of $1089 -no taxes!). If I would have booked through reservatons, it would have been triple the cost. . .hope you find what you're looking for!

Woohoo -- we're all booked! We'll be at CBR from Jan. 10th through the 18th. Free dining. 7 day park hoppers. We're taking one day off to visit That Other Theme Park.

Change of plans - we were going to stay at Pop from 1/11-1/18, but DH's work schedule changed and now we're going 1/30-2/6. A bit longer to wait, but the good news is that I was able to get an ASMu Family Suite, which is what I wanted all along but couldn't get for our original dates. WOO HOO!!!

Sometimes I feel like a bit of a freak because I'm a Disney fanatic... but if lovin' Disney is wrong, I don't wanna be right!

My daughter and I will be there January 5th through 11th. I'm participating in the Half Marathon. (I hope it's warmer than last year'! 28 degrees and snow flurries during the Half.) My husband won't be able to make it. He's in Afghanistan and his r&r isn't until February. (At least he'll be home for our 19th anniversary on Valentine's day.) We're staying at Wilderness Lodge as per my daughter's request. I'm so excited!!
