January 2010. . . Anyone else going???

ARGH! :scared1: You guys are scaring me!! lol

We leave in 15 days....well in 1 1/2 hours it will be 14 day.....and I'm really worried about snow and ice up here. I don't think I could handle seeing snow plows on the runway or them spraying de-icer on the wings!! *takes deep breaths* Flying really isn't "my thing" anyway! This is the only bad part I've seen so far by being a snow bird! I know once we get there and are enjoying the low crowds and the warmer temps (it was about 25 here today), I'll be thankful. I just have to GET to that point! ;)

I hate flying too but will take it over driving and once in the air I am fine. It's the winter weather here that scares me...

Good luck to all getting there from snowy, cold New England!

We leave in 2 weeks and 1 day.:cheer2:

I'm not too worried about the weather yet.

Unfortunately I did not get my mickey mail yesterdat but a friend who is going with us did. Hopefully I will get mine today.

Yikes, we're in the middle of a snow storm here, so good thoughts & prayers for all those traveling yesterday/today/tomorrow. Hope you guys get there safely!!

I'm thinking good thoughts for anyone who's flying or driving!

I also am sending lots of "warm up" vibes to Florida. I'm so glad that I'm not going until 1/15 and the temps look like they'll go up into the 60s. I'm going to be packing so many different kinds of clothes & being so thankful that we're driving this time and not flying because my suitcases would all be over weight! ;)

:goodvibes

WARM WEATHER VIBES !!!:sunny:
My packing list is ever growing to be prapred for any cold snap. We were there last year for it and want to be sure cold doesn't keep us down!

Question (since we've never gone when it's cold). How do you deal with cold mornings (or nights) and warm days? Do you get a locker for sweatshirts? Do you carry them around the park. I'm working on my packing list and need to keep this sort of thing into consideration. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated! :thumbsup2

And can someone tell me when it gets dark down there? Around 6pm is when I'm thinking, but I'd love to hear feedback. Thanks!! :goodvibes

The weather is yucky! But Chicago is tough in storms and will keep truckin' as long as it can. I have a feeling this will be our biggest storm of Jan and the rest of the month will be fine (that's how it seems to go). Now, it will probably just get real cold. We've flown in ice and rain and everything goes smoothly--still safer than driving!

(We actually don't mind the 25 deg days--it's usually beautifully sunny.)

I've taken sweatshirts in a backpack and just carried it around. No biggie. I didn't want to deal with a locker and having to return to it everytime I needed something. This time, since I'm not going commando like last year, I may just go back to the room for a break and add a layer. I'm packing light since I'll only be there for 4 days. I'll probably just bring one sweatshirt and buy one there. I've overpacked on the past few trips so this time I'm going light and I'll wear things more than once (I usually do that but I still somehow overpack! LOL)
I am SO happy it's going back into the 70's next weekend when we're there! But as someone else said, a 45 degree day in WDW is better than one at home! LOL!

Fortunately for us, we stay at the Poly so we usually go back and change at some point if we need. I did buy our last trip these small nylon bags that came in a pouch-they have a hook on them so I plan to just hook it to my jeans going in & shed & use the bag as the day goes on-if needed...some people don't stay close by & don't want to carry anything so a locker would be the way to go-especially if you plan to spend most of the day in that park.

 SINGLE DIGIT DANCE

9-days and counting, and it looks like the weather is going to start warming up by the time we head to The World! Yahoo.

We use a backpack as well as tie jackets etc around our waist. We have not have the need for a locker thanks to my DH and his backpack (aka pack mule), this trip we may need it as he is not there.

We use small micro gloves which take up no room in a pocket or purse.

We did need to buy a blanket for Spectro and wishes last year, this year we are taking a blanket, may need to rent a locker for that? hmmm maybe save the money and put it towards a new blanket? :confused3

I also dressed in layers, we wore long sleeve shirts under t shirts, we did not return back to the resort during the day even tho we were close by.

Thanks for the responses. I have a feeling there will be a lot of people walking around with sweatshirts tied around their waists or in backpacks/bags. LOL

Still so much to do and less than 48 hours to go!!!

- need to finish laundry (last load in the dryer!)
- finish packing DS...clothes in the laundry
- buy more clothes for myself :rotfl: I only have dress/work clothes or sweats, need something in between. I don't think one pair of jeans will cut it for 7 days!
- make sure DH packs for himself :sad2:
- pack our carryon with extra clothes etc
- get together all the odds and ends
- run 1 million errands tomorrow in the snow
- online check-in on Southwest

Take a breath and relax!!! We will be there in 2 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(felt good to get a list written!)

you would be right - just be sure to take all that off when you're posing for a nice photopass picture...The photographers are very accomodating for this :goodvibes. The one told us to leave all our "stuff" under his tripod, mde for a much nicer picture and kept it out of the way

Some good news, I reviewed my ADR's today and wanted to make some changes. All changes made, no problems, there was lots of availability -this was for character breakfasts ! :cool1:
Hope it is a sign of low crowds:thumbsup2

Still on the hunt for luggage. Still have a few more things to make;

DDs autograph book cover
pressed penny tube
finalize my itinerary plans and print off
ID tags

I think that is it for my to make list

I am leaving in the morning :banana::banana: I hope I don't freeze :scared1: I hope everyone has a great weekend....I know I will :love:
